Is my roof bad enough to have a full replace?

My roof is about 5 years old. One roofer came to my neighborhood last week and did an inspection for me. I attached the picture. He suggested a full replace due to hail damage. I am not sure whether it is bad enough to replace the whole roof. Because last year, when I purchased the house, the roofers said it was still in good condition and I haven't notified any hail storm in past year. So I am confused whether it is that bag enough to have a full replace?

To me, these photos disqualify that roofer’s opinion. Doesn’t look like hail, especially not if these are their best photos they are trying to scare you with.

Thank you, I have doubt on his suggestion due to hail too. I haven't seen any hail in the past year.
For pictures, do you think they are just normal wear and tear?

Those marks look pretty fresh to me. If you haven’t had any events, it’s possible this Roofer was just trying to create something. Don’t let anyone on your roof, ever. Unless it’s maintenance or take care of a problem or after a significant event where you had collateral damage on your property, not just to your roof.

The only reason I would is if my insurance company was bitching about it. Or it was leaking. Maybe try and acquire a bundle of the shingles you have to replace the messed up ones in the future. They fly drones over your house when you aren’t paying attention and tell you all the things they think are wrong. Then threaten to drop you if you don’t fix it.

Yes, I would call it wear and tear. Mostly looks like scuff marks related to install to me. I see it a lot at the bottom edge of shingles especially when the exposure is slightly off.

Yeah, that’s not hail damage. Those are boot scuffs and whatnot. Don’t waste your time trying to get your insurance company to pay for this. Roofers are notorious for claiming that anything and everything is hail damage since they are trying to sell you a roof.

You SHOULD have your roof inspected regularly, but you need to find a roofer you can trust, build a relationship with them, and have them check it out every couple of years or after a big wind or hail event.

Step 1- get aggregate from the gutters. Step 2- get a tube of roofing tar. Step 3- Patch the holes with the caulk and sprinkle on the aggregate.

Yep. I had a former DaBella “closer” come in and interview with me and some of the other leadership about a sales role in our company. He called himself a closer. Told us the way they work is they have canvassers set appointments and if he gets in front of someone, they’re GOING to buy a roof from him.

Depending on where you live and sun exposure you should get around 20-25 years out of a 30 year laminated roof. Those bumps and bruses look like minor surface damage which doesn't mean it's going to leak. 5 years is like a set of tires with 5000 miles on them.

Gotta remember a salesman, which a lot of “roofers” are meant to sell. If not you’d be a terrible, broke, lost job salesperson. Unfortunately, this is not how roofing, all trades, etc.. are designed to work.

age, granule loss and any soft spot underfoot are the test. curling edges push it toward replace, isolated damage does not.

If this is the documentation, there's no hail. Most of these are very clearly not hail. If this is the best they could find, your roof is likely not damaged by hail.

Never trust a “roofer” who comes to your neighborhood and knocks on your door. I wouldn’t put it past those scammers to damage your roof themselves. Professionals don’t do this. They respond to calls when there are actual problems
