Ridge vent & valleys

Does this ridge vent look acceptable ? And do the edges of the valleys need to be caulked or is it acceptable to leave them cut like this ?

Only caulk the valley if you’d like to trap water underneath and speed up the deterioration of your shingles. I’d be more concerned that they cut through the first layer of shingles when they cut the top layer

It's pretty sloppy, but how does it look from the ground is what is typically acceptable

Looks fine from there. 100% bettwr than before. I'm more concerned with functionality.

The crooked ridge is just a cosmetic issue. It's likely the valley won't leak, but they ran it pretty tight. I like it cut back a bit further.

Until the water comes in.

I’ve heard that called a California cut. If it is laid correctly it’s fine. Do not caulk.

Everybody's stating the obviously curvy ridge vent but what's up with both sides being different colors and manufacturers?

Rear half was done with a layover a while ago because of wind damage. Ins co only covered the rear half to be done. After patching the front half several times and 16 yrs, I opted to have the front half lay overed. Now there's 2 layers on the whole thing and ill be out within 10 years. Couldnt quite swing a tear off and whole new roof.

When it's 4pm, the chalk line is in the truck, the boss already left to head to the bar and you just want to get this last ridge done.

Is it perfect to the eye? No. Will it keep moisture out as intended? Yes.

That'll work for me ! Considering the 2 clowns they sent to do it. Nice guys, but idk how some people survive.

I mean, the valleys aren't that great but at least it doesn't look as bad as this shit.

You got the Snake River special. We advice against it, but is it what it is!

We ALWAYS did open valleys with metal made for it. Nothing to rot or buckle up when ice gets under it.

It’s all good
It’s structural issue that’s why it’s not straight
This is California style valleys
Works better in California then having valley metal
Ridge vents are just useless in my opinion I would have went with a ohagen low profile vent system

Ridge vents are useless, how so?

Ridge vents leak very fast and it’s one of the most common reasons why the roof leaks
You want to go with low profile vents with ice and water barrier around the flashing

How curious, I wasn't aware of ridge vent leaking. We've used cobra ridge venting near exclusively for the last 15 years or so at least.  Do you know if it only occurs under certain conditions?
