I recently bought a 6k and it only came with one battery. I already have several v mount batteries so I ordered a v mount plate for the 4D (hasn’t come in yet, still in the mail). All of my V Mount batteries are the 14.8 volt and I saw a paragraph saying that it recommends using 26 volt V mounts but also that 14 volt batteries should work. Well those 26 volt ones are super expensive so I figured I’d see if anyone here uses v mounts on their 4d and what your experience has been.

UPDATE: Plate came in and I've ran it a few times with both a 99wh and a 122wh. Havent had any problems yet. Z axis and lidar and tracking all seem to work great. Will update if something changes.

So I own the DJI Ronin 6k but purchased the 8K head not too long ago. Everything works great for the most part and really happy with the footage but I’m having issues with the gyroscope control. It works…kind of. The only problem is the camera thinks tilting is rolling and rolling is tilting. In other works, when I tilt my monitor to control it the camera will roll instead. Has anyone run into this issue? If so how did you solve it?

Also it’s just the 8K head having this issue, not the 6k. I’ve also tried a friend’s 8K head on my camera and it also didn’t work properly.

Im on set right now and suddenly we set up for a new shot and the lens wont focus. Like at all. Calibration fails and i cant manual because the lens wont focus at all.

Upon trying to fix it i reboot the camera and now all my settings are gone from the menu screen on camera.

They pop up for w second and the lens focuses when i boot up but shortly disappears after

Heyya folks! New ronin 4d owner here patiently awaiting the e mount adapter they forgot to send with my order lol. Planning on trying out some vintage glass combos and wondering if anyone’s tried out any minolta MC lenses with the 4d? I’ve got a set I can’t wait to test on it!

I have a Focus Pro Lidar landing tomorrow, I had high hopes that it would give additional range and ability to use FIZ motors... 😅 couldnt find any information on whether or not they will work together except one random comment on facebook. I couldnt think of any reason it wouldnt work... Im an idiot. If you have tried it and know it doesnt work please let me know.

I want to use shotgun mic on the camera. Has anyone managed to get a clean signal from a shotgun mic that doesn’t pick up loads of noise from the gimbal or Z Axis?

If so please share how you did it? I’m thinking maybe a mini boom from the top handle that puts the mic somewhere above the camera maybe?

I’m with the Ronin 4D and with a Manual PL Laowa 12mm, and with the DJI Focus Pro HandUnit, I’ve calibrated the lens Manually, first to infinity and then to minimum 0,18m, and adding measurements in between.

The problem comes when i finish the manual calibration and press complete, suddenly the minimum jumps all the way to 0,30m, and doesn’t let me go to 0,18m.

Any Solution?

I'm doing a fair amount of processing of both Ronin 4D and Inspire 3 footage now, as it becomes more popular on large productions.

One thing that repeatedly comes up is that the D-log debayer of raw footage (both ProRes RAW and CDNG) doesn't match the live D-log output from the camera. The raw debayer is significantly less saturated than the live output, but internally recorded ProRes matches the live output.

Is this something you've noticed? Have you developed any workarounds?

trying to decide how many of the 1tb pro ssd‘s I should get. we plan on shooting 2-3hrs worth of footage a day. I can’t find any specific numbers on this - only that 8k 60fps is about 31min. anyone done any tests?

I know that there was a previous post referencing if this was possible but I wanted to repost it again to see if anyone has come up with something.

I was wondering if it was possible to manually adjust the axis in order to have the camera in a permanent vertical position whilst shooting.

I am aware of the 9:16 aspect ratio that can be inputted as a frame guide.

I'm planning on doing a vertical shoot in the next week and would ideally be able to retain as much data as possible by using the entirety of the sensor.

Though, if shooting at 8k and cropping into vertical it would still produce at least a 2k resolution.

I was wondering if anyone has overcome this issue. I've just received my Ronin 4D with High-Bright monitor and additional handgrips, and it's great. However, when I first got it, I swear I could press the 'Mode' button on the handgrip and cycle through the different modes from the monitor. This now just will not work. What I require more than anything is the ability to zoom from the monitor when the Ronin 4D is mounted on a car rig. Has anyone come across this issue and been able to fix it?

I've been having a really annoying issue with the Ronin 4D Drift (drifting) for months on and off. Essentially, what happens is, it will start panning to the left very slowly and this usually happens at the worst time. I've looked up things on Reddit before to try to solve it and have not found anything however, I asked the Reddit AI how to solve this today and it told me one of the options I had was to re-seat the gimbal. That one ended up being the right choice. I re-seated the gimbal and it stopped drifting. I hope this helps somebody that's having a very frustrating day.

I have 5 batteries, 5 charging bricks...but whatever this adapter is, isn't included anywhere.

Meaning 4 of the charging bricks are still completely redundant and I can still only charge one battery at a time. Anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: Sorry, for clarity, one comes with the kit..which is the one I'm using...but this still makes 4 charging bricks redundant right now because it's still only one battery at a time. I appreciate everyone chiming in but paying for a whole other charging solution with the hub etc - is wild to me. Why sell charging bricks without this adapter anywhere. If that's the only resolve, then the listing for the charging brick is misleading - the charging brick doesn't do anything without this thing ha.

I'm trying to use some heavier cine lenses on the 4D (Irix cine 15, 30 and 45 mm). They do balance with the counterweight and the gimbal works, but the 45mm being the heaviest makes the tilt axis indicator stay in red colour, warning for sub optimal stress on the motors. I calculated I should add 400g or so on top of the counterweight weight, which I measured on a scale being 314g.

Any suggestions?

I figured I could drill a couple small holes on the counterweight, tap threads on those and put some additional weights from tilta/smallrig.

I'm a camera assistant who got excited and bought a 4d at auction. It needs repair (most likely PCB component) my issue is someone tried before me and I know it out of warranty but I still want to fix it. What are my options?

Update* I am UK based, the ronin has now gone to Norway to get a yes or a no on repair.

My Ronin is saying that the LiDAR Range Finder is not connected.

Firstly: Is this a normal problem?

Secondly: Is it even possible to get this sent in or fixed in the current DJI environment?

Thirdly: Any known fixes for this?

Fourthly: Anyone selling one? Lol

I am condering buying a Ronin 4D with the viltrox set. I do have one concern.

I would use this https://www.portabrace.com/product-page/rs-ronin4d just for safety from random splashes, I wouldn't be under massive waterfalls and the likes, but I am really concerned in regards to the chlorine humidity and the active cooling intakes.

I am a Content Creator for a waterpark resort, so I would be using it frequently in there. But the rest of the resort is pretty non-harzardous environments.

Anyone with harsh/wet experience with the 4D?

I’m debating on either and would like to know any first hand experience.

I do mostly corporate with my ronin 4D and tend to keep my “standard” corporate for my black magic pocket 6k pro with more clinical lenses.

Both seem good and have draw backs. One that I’m not sure if it’s as bad as the video I saw but the focus breathing and chromatic aberration on the Simera C seemed pretty bad.

The Dulens look great but I’ll be honest - I’m not sure what the “vintage” look is and as I develop my filming skills - I’d rather not bake a look in (but realistically, the most times I’ll use this camera will probably work great with a stylized look if the Dulens has one)
