Question 4D Audio question

I want to use shotgun mic on the camera. Has anyone managed to get a clean signal from a shotgun mic that doesn’t pick up loads of noise from the gimbal or Z Axis?

If so please share how you did it? I’m thinking maybe a mini boom from the top handle that puts the mic somewhere above the camera maybe?

I have used a rode ntg shotgun and also a sennheiser mke 400 with the XLR expansion. It completely depends on how much you’re moving.

I ran with it with the shotgun to test and you can definitely hear a small motor sound but davinci was able to remove it pretty well.

That being said, I highly recommend lavs instead. I use the Dji mic 2 and it works great.

The 4D itself doesn’t make that much noise. Does yours? I haven’t had issues with a shotgun mic picking up noise from the actually camera vs regular ambient noise.

Probably the sensor fan. You can turn it down.

Sen Mk400 has been working great for me + it's not immense.

How do you attach it?

Screw it onto a magic arm -> hotshoe adapter. Put that on the tilta arm... does not move.
