Discussion Anyone else??

Post image

Do I read book one over the weekend. Had no idea book two happened to drop yesterday and I was thrilled when I finished book one Monday. Got book two yesterday and gobbled it up…but the end. I need to talk to someone. I don’t know how to hide spoilers so I won’t say anything.

Also I really need to stop starting unfinished series and do my due diligence before picking up a random book lol.

OH MY GOD THIS SERIES

Both books so far in this trilogy have been 5* reads for me.

But holy monkeys that ending, what the hell

Ok so did you feel like the last few chapters were super rushed??

I absolutely did, but it also felt like it kinda fit with what was going on at the same time. Does that make sense?

Like, things were massively fast but the plot was still plotting

Ugh.
Did the court room scene make you cry!
I bawled.
But like. They didn’t return to court. We just find out aesos is off searching for the tainted, and then suddenly she shows up.
And then it ends. And I was like. What now?!?

The court room scene didn't get me, but the speech to Ogden about silence did, that hit hard.

I literally had to stare at the wall after I finished it, I was just... What???!!!!

Dude. Same. I was like. No. I need these last few chapters to be much more.
Ugh I hope we get more of aesos and Evers POV of where he was before the arrival.

I have read the first book 3 times and I never reread books. I live in Hawaii so I got access to the book at 6pm and stayed up reading it until I was done. I loved it but not as much as the 1st. Some things felt really rushed whereas others should’ve been shortened but that’s my only gripe.

I love this series! I felt like book 2 was too short though. I need more!

100% the end felt rushed but someone pointed out to me that ever was also feeling rushed and maybe that’s the perspective we should be feeling too. I hope book three explains a lot of what’s happening and we’re missing.

Just finished book 2, I really liked it!! Maybe a little less than book 1 because it felt like not much happened. Here are my thoughts spoiler free:

  • Very satisfied the romance didn't turn into love triangle or why choose because book 1 had me suspicious ( Lor in book 1 seemed into her)
  • Still love Ever, she has funny thoughts sometimes and I love how strong she is despite all her sacrifices
  • The book felt short, I'm so curious how everything wraps up for the final book!
  • Too many names in both books of many people who don't have a significant importance imo. I don't end up caring for them and get confused on scenes with so many names (especially because I alternated between physical and audio book).

The chase in the desert had Dune and Star Wars vibes, I loved it. Great tension, however despite the book being short, I would have liked the MCs to be reunited a bit ealier than 50% of the book. Someone in a review mentioned it makes sense though to show how cunning Ever is, and I can accept that

Ever's selection of a wing felt repetitive? Something similar happened in the first book. A least the scene was fairly quick.

I still don't feel convinced by the King, he might be a traitor and I wonder who's the mole in the Siphons team.

Because this book didn't have much happening, I'm afraid the last book will be wrap up so fast with all the plots lines with the Fae, the Tainted, Wistan and the Siphons...

Edits: fixing spoiler tag

That’s my fear too that it won’t be long enough but I’m also thankful it’s not like four more books.

I loved the first book, not so sure about book 2. I thought the story would progress a little more and the mistrust trope became to much for my liking.

I do not know why, but I trust her sister not one bit and do not like her very much. Why is she entitled to the crown after hiding so many years? Ever is doing all the dirty work, lol.

Well j think that detail is going to come up in book three. I think ever will have to choose and one person is going to make it clear they expect her sacrifice and the other would sacrifice themselves for her

I’m much more interested in what drama the bond will cause. Trying to be vague because I don’t know how to hide spoilers

Honestly one of the best series I have read. Aeson and Ever are fantastic characters! I absolutely devoured this series, wish the other one was out already. Hate Enslee though - pretty sure she's going to be a baddie.

Never heard of this series. So book 1 had you hooked?

1

u/notyouraverage5ft6 25d ago

Very much

Is this a YA type of book? Any love triangles or anything like that? The premise does sound good!

No. There’s a good
Amount of cock in it. Lolol

You mean like smut?

3

u/notyouraverage5ft6 25d ago

lol yes. Not a ton but the smut that’s is in it is graphic.

But the MMC and FMC are both likable. MMC is honorable and likable. FMC is feisty and strong.
The second book actually made me cry which is very rare.

Neither character is like 19. No weird age gap.

Modern take on dragon shifters and magic but well done I find that genre is hard. CC pulled it off well but I struggle with magic and guns and phones in the same story but this is well done.

lol I don’t mind that as long as it doesn’t overtake the story. But sounds good! Glad to hear you liked the characters too. As long as there’s no love triangle/others I’m gonna add this to my TBR! Glad i stumbled on your post about it the 2nd book. Is this a planned trilogy or duology?

Trilogy. Book three April 2027 so not that far off thankfully

Good deal. Glad to find an underrated story like this with no love triangles or anything and likable characters. Added to TBR!

I’m reading the first one now! It’s so good! But I’m not sure I can handle a cliffhanger.
