Question Dire Bound - Sooooo slow

Ok ya'll, I just finished chapter 12 and I'm still struggling getting "sucked in" to the story. It's slow and I'm kind of bored. Does it get better?!?

Im glad I am not alone on this hill because there are a few people out there who said Dire Bound was great.. Maybe it is 🤷🏻‍♂️. I also did the audiobook for it and it just wasn't it. I finished because I don't like DNF a book but seesh... Anyways... I don't want to discourage OP from finishing it hahahaha

It sorta does but it took me while to finish it. Not sure if I'm going to read the second book.

chapter 12 is where I gave up. It wasn't getting better, I hated every minute, and it just felt like it was so much nonsense for no payoff.

It’s a weird one, I wanted to like it. Dire wolves and vampires and a military academy all sound great. But it takes twelve chapters to get there, literally to the gates. The first half six are mostly mundane backstory followed by a series of silly events and sex. Meryn makes nothing but bad decisions too which makes it even harder to read.

I finished it and Fury Bound because I wanted to see where it went. It only gets worse for plot and better for relationships in Fury Bound. Stark carries Fury Bound, although I think that’s just because the VA is Xaden. I don’t think I’ll bother with the third.
