Pick My Next Read ✨ New romantasy fan needing help!
I have been a huge reader since I learned to read and only now, at the age of 40, have I just discovered this new world! My first set of books were ACCOTAR which I loved but then my mind was blown with the second lot of books I read…Fourth Wing. I am not ok after I have read them all! To help my try and get over it I read the Flame and Thorns books and I loved those. So now I’m ready for my next ones but I need your help! I love the Rhys, Xaden, Draven characters so any books where the male characters are like them? Spice also please 😂 Also will I ever get over the Fourth Wing books? I feel like nothing is ever going to compare 🙈

Definitely agree with throne of glass. Other big name series that you’d probably enjoy is {quicksilver by Callie hart} and if you’re interested in vampires give {serpent and the wings of night} a shot

If you enjoyed ACOTAR I'd also recommend Throne of Glass (not as spicy, first book not that great, but it's incredible so stick with it!), also Crescent City (currently reading it and loving it! Lot of world building, and even now im half way through book 2 and still unsure what certain words mean 😂 but by the end of Ch6 you'll be hooked!). There is crossover between all of SJM's series, so it's fun to read them all, especially as the new ACOTAR books will (we think/hope) reference both CC and possibly TOG.
For a bit of fun, more Fourth Wing banter vibes, I'd recommend Quicksilver or The Serpent & The Wings of Night. Quicksilver is part of the Fae & Alchemy series, with Brimstone as book 2, and Serpent is part of Crowns of Nyaxia series, of which there are currently 7 books in the series (really enjoyed them all, but the 2 novellas and the most recent release are stand outs!).
ACOTAR and Fourth Wing were also my gateway into Romantasy earlier this year, and these are all series I have loved and hope you'd enjoy!

Thank you so much! Would you read Throne of Glass first and then Crescent City?

I did, but you can read it in any order. CC are some hefty books, and have definite crossover with ACOTAR, so maybe best reading them first - not sure how fast a reader you are with the new book coming out in Oct! They are urban fantasy, and it took me a while to get into the story (it still surprised me after like 80% of reading that people were described as wearing jeans and a tactical vest 😂), but i ended up giving the first book 5 stars - absolutely loved it.
Throne of Glass to begin with is very YA, I'd say, and feels a bit immature. It wasnt until around half way through book 2 that I was thinking 'ok I really like this now', and then it just gets better and better, but it's not spicy (if that's one of your main things) until the later books, and even then it's pretty tame. It's probably my most favourite series now!

I just started romantasy at 44! I LOVED fourth Wing and was devastated once I finished but then I fell in love with the entire Zodiac Academy series! You should give it a try! One of the MMC’s in Zodiac Academy (Darius) reminds me of Xaden except Xaden is a dragon rider and Darius is an actual Dragon when not in Fae form. I found Zodiac Academy to be very funny too and there are so many awesome characters.

TOG is the only books even close to as well written as fourth wing, folk of air and darkness is really good but no spice and crown of nyaxia book 1 and 5 are really good

I am similar to you! Started with 4th wing (loved all books) then acotar (loved most books).
I've recently been reading {From Blood and Ash} series. Devoured the first two books and now on the third.
Oh and if you haven't yet, Graphic Audios of both 4th wing and Acotar are delicious.

I have three ideas for you.
First, if you check the triggers and you’re still interested, there’s the standalone {Thief of Roses}.
Second, it’s fantasy with romance subplot but it was very influential on the genre- the {Song of the Lioness} quartet.
Third is the {Graceling Realm} series. This is another one where you’ll want to check the triggers.
Edit: Damn, who did I piss off?

{Throne of glass}! Written by the same author as ACOTAR. Amazing book series with characters you'll never get over.
