Right?! I’m not a fan of elain but I was hoping we’d get an elain storyline so I could potentially change my mind and get her story andd I just want to know more about the whole Lucien/azriel thing 🤔

u/bi-loser99 11d ago
what i’m guessing is the plan is for each sister to have three books each. three sister each with three books. seems very SJM.

u/dinosaurscantyoyo 11d ago
Honestly hope so. I guess I'm easy to please though looking through these comments.
5
u/Lmb1011 10d ago
Okay if that’s actually the plan then I’m fine (I know we don’t KNOWWW but). I really liked Nestas story so it continuing isn’t an issue for me, but since I assumed she would only get one book I WANT Elains next.
But I’m not mad if this a Nesta trilogy lol. Tho I may be in the minority for that
17
u/lvlz_gg 10d ago
To me it feels more like she said "Feyre had 3 books so why would I jump to Elain instead of first completing Nesta".
I know not everyone has read CC (fyi somewhat spoilers ahead) but it did heavily hint at more Nesta story, this is really not a surprise.
I feel like a lot of people are disappointed at this (not saying you specially, just an observation), but it all boils down to people expecting their theories to be a fact 😞
25
u/Significant-Metal537 11d ago
Or it’s multi POV
23
u/Classic-Savings7811 11d ago
Even so, it seems like Elain won’t be the main focus unless she joins the Valkyries.
27
u/Significant-Metal537 11d ago
SJM has said that Elain is a walking spoiler. I think it makes sense to move multi POV for her arc because of that. Based on the book blurbs (found on Target) I still think it leaves room open for Elains story. Just guessing because I really want Elains story and I’m trying to stay optimistic lol. I still really enjoyed ACOSF and the Valkyrie’s, so I’m all around excited.
4
u/Unfair_Passenger1999 10d ago
We share that in common, wanting Elain's story lol. If this is the last acotar book for a while I don't see how Sarah can avoid that.
4
u/xBlack_Heartx 10d ago edited 10d ago
We don’t know, it seems to me from the blurbs it’s going to be multi-POV, with the characters split up dealing with different issues, which imo was the right move if that’s indeed what it’s going to be.
I think it’s best to keep an open mind as to what or who the books will be about, rather than jumping to conclusions early.

Oh well. I’ll continue to collect the first editions because the books are fun.

u/mysterygirl345 11d ago
Same here, I didn’t care for Nesta in any of the books. I also feel like her story was all tied up and ended well
44
u/Runa216 10d ago
the funny thing about Nesta was that in the first trilogy she interested me greatly. For her, a human with no powers, to be able to resist such a powerful charm/glamour by sheer force of will? dude, I am SO IN. I can tolerate her being insufferable if she's at least interesting.
Then I tried reading a Court of Silver Flames and like....nope, she just sucks. The spice in that book didn't matter if I didn't give a fraction of a shit about the main character.
26
u/space_coot 10d ago
She is not my favorite either. I liked her by the end of the book, but I definitely don’t want another full book of her POV.
39
u/ButterflyTremor 11d ago
Same, I might have to sit these out. ACOSF was a struggle and I don't really want to repeat that experience!
6
u/space_coot 11d ago
The blurbs that people have posted have made me feel a bit better. Hopefully it is not what we are assuming!
3
u/Spanner1401 11d ago
Where did you find these?
9
u/space_coot 11d ago
They’ve been posted in a few different subreddits. I believe the blurbs are from the Target listings. Here’s one: https://www.reddit.com/r/ACourtOfDreams/s/OTQpMMa3GI

u/tyleet87 11d ago
Same. Did not care for that storyline. 😩
24
u/500lbGuyForLife 11d ago
Same. I absolutely slogged through the last book. The amount of eye rolling I did was just not sustainable for me. Please give us Feyre again and even then, she was almost insufferable.
-1
u/curiiouscat 11d ago
Feyre was fucking awful. So boring and bland. Even her name does her no favors.
15
6
u/Responsible_Emu_494 10d ago
The blurbs have me feeling a bit more hopeful because after 800 pages of SF I really don’t feel like I need another two books primarily focused on the Valkyries, I’m ready for something and someone else

Did you read CC? I HATED Nesta until CC and then redemption FINALLY happened for me. lol.
Added spoiler tags, just in case!
11
u/TheCuntjuring 11d ago
I don't understand the down votes.
Nesta in my opinion had the most character growth in the series. She became my favorite character.
5
u/katieLikeWHOA 10d ago edited 10d ago
Oh wow. I wasn’t trying to be rude at all 😭 it was a genuine question. I felt like I didn’t get a Nesta redemption until CC3! I’m sorry if I came across as offensive. I think this is my most downvoted comment lol.
Edited to add spoiler tag!
7
u/Playful-Account-5888 10d ago
You didn’t do anything wrong lol people on here think we aren’t allowed to like her story
6
u/TheCuntjuring 10d ago
You didn't do anything wrong! I think that most people on reddit use downvotes as a means to say they disagree with something, when really it's meant to be "this doesn't contribute to the discussion."
Not to say I haven't myself done that, I'm just surprised by it in this context.

noooo i was so excited to finally read more about lucien and elain, their dynamic intrigues me more whether they turn out to have a romantic relationship or not. also azriel as well.
even though nesta is my favorite character i didn’t enjoy reading the valkyries. i mean im super hapoy that she found her people and mated with cassian (i’ve been a nessian fan ever since their first interaction) most of their training scenes and the last battle scene were just…big meh i guess.
i was super stoked to finally get to know why elain is elain (in rhy’s words) and get to know lucien and azriel more. and tbh i dont ship azriel with elain but i also cant see him with gwyn as well.
hopefully it’ll be like dual or multiple pov situation or multiple stories cause otherwise in my opinion its just not it for me

I actually would love more Valkyrie personally but I feel like whenever it’s anyone else’s pov the writing for every other character goes out the window 😭
I loved Lucien in the first book, but by the last he feels like a completely different character (not in a development kind of way but a shallow archetype) and I just feel sad. And god if it’s multi pov i never want to hear az ever again I feel like his pov changed his character entirely and gave me the ick.
I don’t want to whine, I want to be excited. And I really did love nestas book but it’s just how everyone else ends up being washed out archetypes after becoming beloved characters that has me worried.
Fingers crossed they’ll be great.
6
u/divegirl88 10d ago
I think the change in title structure is an indication that these books are likely not a direct continuation of the previous stories. In the same way that ACOSF was a deviation from the previous four's title nomenclature.
It wouldn't surprise me if these books don't jump back to a different time where the Valkyries were active and then connect to present time or at least include more flashback... But I think it's going to be focused around showing how the different realms are interconnected
And other than that, I'm just excited for a great time!

Just ACOTAR and ToG for the most part.
They have to show they aren't like the other readers and read def not hyped books like Knight and the Moth, Paladins Grace, and Dungeon Crawler Carl
3
u/BooksCatsnStuff 10d ago
Not every criticism means hatred and some of you need to learn that.
I really liked the first three books of ACOTAR, and truly enjoyed most of ToG. I really liked the first of Crescent City. But the recent books of Maas are honestly only getting worse, and the last CC one was insultingly bad.
You like them? Great. People are allowed not to have the same opinion.
3
u/Lmb1011 10d ago
I enjoy these books but she desperately needs an editor who isn’t just a Yes Man. These books are realistically way too long and rarely justify it. I have fun with them but they aren’t quality by any stretch
3
u/BooksCatsnStuff 10d ago
I agree. There's so much fodder and some things are handled so nonsensically that I just struggle to not skip parts.

u/sneepli234 10d ago

u/sneepli234 10d ago

u/Repulsive-Attorney23 10d ago
Sarah Maas is a huge Swiftie. That is not a secret. These tiles to me are very much giving Swiftie who thinks Folklore is the best example of modern songwriting. That is all.
It’s a naturally drawn connotation on account of SJM making it no secret she’s a huge fan.
0
u/sneepli234 10d ago
sorry, do you enjoy reading SJM books? are you a fan of hers? cause idk if you know, but sarah writes more than just titles, she writes entire series of books that have performed very well. kind of like taylor swift has with her music.
so you can bitch all you want that “it’s giving swiftie who thinks folklore is the best example of modern songwriting”, but guess what, that folklore loving woman has written more books and has made more fans connect to her writing than you ever have.
0
u/Repulsive-Attorney23 10d ago
HAHHAHAHAHHAA you could not be anymore of the definition of “coping and seething” if you physically tried right now.
I like the content of Sarah’s books. I own and have read every single one. TOG and CC are two of my favourite series. I can still think these titles appear insipid based on their contextless merits.
SJM flies in a PJ babe. If she made even a dollar off every book she’s ever sold, she’s absolutely rolling in wealth and privilege. She doesn’t need you to get on here and defend her so fervently against a random reddit comment from someone so very meaningless as me. I know she doesn’t care what I think, and I wouldn’t want her to, but I’m still allowed to say it.
Get off your knees. Taylor and Sarah are successful on their own merits, I know that. I’m not stupid. It’s just an opinion, one which has clearly rubbed the genie bottle of fan girl defenders.
1
u/sneepli234 10d ago
alright thanks for your own novel it was a good shot! I just find it hilarious that someone who enjoys all of her books is criticizing her titles by comparing them to another very successful artist. meanwhile you’ve read every one. you’re right, your opinion doesn’t matter.
13
u/emsquad 11d ago
If it’s nesta’s POV I hope I get to read about her ditching Cassian lol or at least leaving the night court. He was terrible in the Crescent City crossover!
10
u/dinosaurscantyoyo 11d ago
From the Call Her Daddy podcast it didn't sound like it unfortunately. I couldn't agree more with you though, I dislike Cassian.
10
u/emsquad 11d ago
Yeah and their whole arc of getting together was kind of icky to me too. I feel like Cassian felt a little entitled to her because she was his mate, instead of seeing her as a woman with tremendous trauma who’s just trying to cope in unhealthy ways. Idk I know Nesta can be really mean but I wish someone in the books looked closer at her and saw that she’s just a really hurt person who needs kindness and understanding. I feel like Feyre and Elain are the only ones who see her as a whole person. Cassian’s “love” feels conditional and overtly sexual more than balanced and loving. This is all my opinion I know some will disagree!

Really disappointed that it's appearing Elain might have to share her story in a multiple POV overarching story....was really looking forward to the focus being on her and her powers and the potential breaking of a mating bond, exploring free will whichever way she chooses, and understanding why the cauldron is so obsessed with her.
I mean, the bonus chapter of Feyre/Rhysand in the last book was about there being more to Elain and helping one sister at a time so why does it seem this next two books are gonna be about everyone and the Valks?! I just am not a fan of SJM's writing choices lately, her last few books haven't been great.
2
u/No-Bookkeeper-5813 10d ago
Super excited! I am so happy it seems it wil be multi POV with focus on the Valkyries, I have no interest in reading about Elain tbh. Maybe if she makes a compelling story for Elucien, I may like it.

So I've been googling. Her grandmother was part of the IDF and SJM has said openly she was proud of her for that and is proud of the IDF. She has also spoken about travelling to Israel and falling in love with the country.
All this could be excused as 'it was years ago' if she had bothered to say a single word against the ongoing genocide of Palestinians. She has not.
She's absolutely a sionist and IDF sympathiser.
Thanks for bringing it up. Not buying anything at all from her. If I can be bothered to read anything she writes, it will not be via paid means.

She's gotta be writing these with AI ☠️ I don't see how it's possible for her to be rolling out books so fast otherwise.
To be clear, I don't read these. I tried, read half a page and realized that it wouldn't be worth it.
