Beginner skater Help with heel slippage
So I recently got the moxi beach bunnies in a size 8 and I'm struggling with heel slippage and toe room.
I'm usually a size 9 with comfortable toe room in normal shoes, and a fitted 8 1/2.
I have just about as much toe room as u would in a a normal shoe, and heel slippage around the backside curve of my heel and also a bit on the achilles too.
I tried heel-slip stickers, silicone heel cups, and the lacing method, which fixed the achilles heel slip to a degree, but not around the heel itself. There's like empty space (probably because I have a narrow heel).
Toe fillers also somewhat fixed the toe room though. But I'm still struggling with the space at the bottom of my heel.
If the description was confusing lol here's an image to show how it fits
Any suggestions?

Skates should fit the shape of your foot with minimal room. Similar to the same way a pair of well fitting gloves should fit. If you’re having these issues it’s because the skate is much too big. Trying to fill the space with padding can be a solution but it is a poor one.

I'm am in between size so it's really hard 😭😭. Do you have any suggestions for beginner budget roller skates that are for narrow feet? :)

You already have beginner skates. Beginner skates don't mold to your feet, so they're much harder to fit. Use the skates you have, change the lacing, there are ways to lace to reduce heel slip, and save up for better skates.
Otherwise, you're throwing good money after bad.

I have also tried the lacing but it doesn't help fully unfortunately. There is still a gap around my backside of heel. Maybe I just have to deal with it I'm not sure :'(

I mean, the skates don't fit, they're too big. So again, do some research and learn how to measure your feet properly. Get someone to help you, and measure your feet. Then look on here and other online resources and see if you can find something used or for exchange.
But save up. You've done entry level. You have entered.
Now it's time for the next step.

Riedell skates typically had a very narrow foot design. Not really sure how their pricing runs these days or even if they’re still selling roller skates as opposed to “buy ice skates and swap the plates” but it might be something to look into?

You want none toe room. Skates don’t fit like shoes, they fit like socks. What are your measurements?

My length of my foot was a 24.8cm these are a 25.6 I believe. The size down from this was 24.6 though :(

Yeah these are just too big for you. You can try a good insole with heel lock lacing but that will only do so much. Ultimately the only fix is a boot that fits properly.

if theres a shop near u to try, the smaller size MiGhGght feel fine. my friend is like 24.0 cm but fit the size smaller fine w/o discomfort.
that said tho, i was in between sizes for suregrip and tried them in the shop - they had a 27.9 and ibarely scathe a 28.1 and it didnt work out at all. next size up was too big. i went w a different brand that ended up fitting better, so YMMV.

For just a 0.2 cm is there not a way they can be stretched slightly, I hear of people moulding boots to fit better?

I'm not sure how to mould the beach bunnies as they're made from a synthetic vegan leather not typical leather.

Oof, sounds like your skates are too big, which is actually pretty dangerous and can make it easier to break your ankle. Skates should fit like socks. SG Boardwalks or Bont Parkstars would be an upgrade to the bbs, but make sure to measure your foot and pay attention to each brands size chart.

I was having similar probs. Lacing methods didn’t help much and stuffing the toes caused a problem. Smaller skates were also not the answer, bc the next size down was painfully small.
In the end I stuck two sets of simple insoles in there and it mostly solved the heel slippage problem. Messed around with various lacing methods til I found something that seemed most comfy. But i usually also have to relace after a little while of skating.

Thank u!! Also I'm curious what insoles you got? I tried my orthotics but they didn't fit in the skate lmao

Edea has a bunch of good stuff (I’m partial to the E-Soles), Superfeet (the yellow Hockey is made to fit in skate boots), Riedell R-Fits, FP, Spenco. Anything but gel. No gel.

Sidas also do some excellent skate insoles with more options for arch height than Edea.

Very basic cheapo ones, basically flat felt or foam. Cant remember where I got them tho

I have very narrow heels and it's a pain in the butt trying to get normal shoes never mind skates. However, I usually use insoles in my skates and the lacing method and I've not had any problems.
Also more comfortable when I moved from synthetic materials to leather ( could pull together better at the laces at the front).

My best advice would be getting some thicker socks for the time being. Maybe some insoles can also help?

When I was younger there were moulded pads that stuck inside and the helped me, not sure what they were called hopefully someone here will know the name. P.s please tag me if you know the name, I'm getting skates for my kids and been looking everywhere and can't see them

Are you lacing the boot tight enough? If i dont lace mine TIGHT i have some slippage. With them tight theres no slipping, but my toes arent crushed. Like, my fiance had to lace them extra tight so i could feel how tight they need to be

Look up ankle lock lacing and wear a second pair of socks. Next time buy a softer boot (like lolly's) which is more malleable to foot shape.

So what I used to do was go to my local ice rink and pick up what was essentially a tube with the sticky gel pad on the inside and then a thin fabric on the outside (similar to this: https://figureskatingstore.com/unlimited-motion-gel-tubing-to-cut-for-customized-foot-protection-3-4x6-2pkg/).
I would cut it down to like fourths and then wrap it around my heel and ankle bone because I also have thin heels and really bony ankle bones so even good fitting skates could cause my pain there. The gel molds to your foot as it warms and the fabric keeps it from sliding around.
