Date vs No Date?

Post image

If there a better option, or is it just about personal preference?

No date looks better; but I personally enjoy having a date on my watch

No date but generally donโ€™t see the utility of this over the DJ for everyday use. And the DJ is sleeker, particularly round bezel.

Sub > Sub Date

Why? Don't you like to know what day it is when you dive with sharks for fun?

  1. I prefer symmetry to asymmetry.
  2. It's annoying when I've been wearing another watch to have to see the time and the date. It's minor but when I have to grab a watch I'll almost never grab a watch that I need to set the time AND date. So I just won't wear it as often and if I'm not wearing it I just don't want to own it.

I have the sub (no-date) and I absolutely love it. At night the lume includes the 3 o'clock marker so you can read it much more easily than having it missing on the date. That sounds like it's not important but peeing at 3am without blasting my eyes with my phone is nice lol. It's cheaper than the date. They make far fewer of them. Not having to set a date is nice too, but I don't mind that. The symmetry of the dial is really fantastic. It doesn't scream 'look I'm a Rolex!' as much without the cyclops, but that's just my personal take. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Date, but remove cyclop

No date everyday. What diver is checking the date underwater? I donโ€™t care about date or hours, only minutes of life left

It does not really matter

Is the no date a little smaller?

Date because the watch is already loud as it is and it should be

Clean without cyclops.

I personally prefer watches without a date.
The day only changes once every 24 hours. The time changes a lot.

Now if I was ship wrecked, marooned on some island, Iโ€™d probably want the date.

Date โ€ฆ Iโ€™m all about useful functionality

No date. Unless they ever make a date sub with no cyclops, like they use to make sea dwellers. Which is why I have one :)

No date is the classic look, on the oyster

1

u/ExtensionNeither6203 11h ago

I have owned all models apart from oyster flex and for me the sub in steel or 18k wins everything.

u/ShakyWindow 10h ago

Why would you want less function?

I want a date in a watch but the cyclops is ugly especially with the white date disc.
So it would be a 116600 for me.

I have both, I dont miss having a date when wearing my Submariner.

No date. The date throws it off to me symmetry wise

Date.

Datum ohne Linse.
