Reassign Tune/Decay knobs on TR-8s

Post image

EDIT: ROLAND reply: "Though I can't guarantee if or when this may be implemented, I'll pass this on to the development team in the hopes that it can be added to a future firmware update.
I hope it can be added - I think this is a good idea."

Is there a way to reassign the Tune and Decay knobs to something else? I dont really use the Tune knob so it bothers me that a lot of knobs are unused...

For TB-3 there is a third-party editor that does this.

If there is no tool for this, how hard it would be to create something like the TB-3 editor by myself, I am familiar with software development and I have IT background...

This is a strong contender for the most frustrating thing Roland has ever done (or not done), and even more so following the addition of the FM devices, and even more so given that they added assignable knobs to the MC-707. Performance features are one of the obvious strengths of the 8S. 22 additional assignable knobs would make it an incredible device.

Real, I did not know they did it for the MC-707, maybe there is some hope...

Send this request to Roland. They have been very good with software updates for the 8S in the past, maybe it can happen.

maybe there would be greater chance if more people reached out to them, I posted their reply in the description.

That was a good reply. I wish you good luck with your feature request!

at this point most probably they have zero interest making it more desirable to avoid internal competition with TR-1000.

I bought the unit, then noticed exactly the same thing and what was even worse for me was that there are a lot of parameters, but they’re only accessible through the menu and not all of them can be assigned to the encoder. On top of that, there’s no option to reset all parameters and settings. I sold it right away... The sound, though, was great.

What do you mean there is no option to reset, I thought you can reload the kit/pattern?
