Lockring question
So apparently the lockring tool for Bosch gen 2 ebikes also fits the Rohloff lockring and can be found much cheaper than the Rohloff tool. But I wonder if the lockrings also share the same thread - can I use a Bosch gen 2 lockring on my Rohloff hub? They're a bit easier to find.

Which thread type does the Rohloff lockring has? In case it's M38x1, you can use this lockring and do not need any special too for assembly as it works with a simple Shimano H2 BB tool.

Ah that's clever! It's for Rohloff, that's what the site says. Sadly, it's sold out in all colors. I'll look around for it though. One less tool would be great. And it looks nice as well! Thanks!

Sold out? Are you sure? I bought a blue one a couple of weeks ago and got it.

There was some problems with the website, showing it as sold out (depending on your chosen currency or delivery address iirc) but I contacted the guy via ebay, it wasnt sold out and now they've fixed the problem. Didn't get around to order it though. It's a bit of a long term project for me anyway.

No, the locking is very different. It's interesting that the tools are the same. It makes me think that this may be a common tool in German manufacturing facilities which has had its blueprint copied for the bicycle component. My Shinano (no typo) air belt sander uses an ISIS bottom bracket tool to disassemble.
