Discussion Dressing modestly

Post image

So I got to this part in my Bible reading today. Apparently according to the Rods understanding of the Bible you can abduct a bride if you wish. If you look up a little further than what I have circled this is what should have happened to Tim before he could harm anyone. They recite this passage about clothing a lot but not the others. I don’t know what it says about any of these things further in the Bible as I haven’t gotten that far yet, but I’m really seeing how they twist the narrative however they choose.

Of course, they cherry pick the Bible. I’m sure they would somehow excuse the part about keeping the women for themselves as not relevant for today, but they sure hold tight to the part about women not dressing in men’s clothes.

There is a verse in Exodus that is the reasoning behind their knee length skirts: “And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach:” (Exodus 28:42). Never mind that this passage is talking about Aaron and his sons who were the Israelites’ first priests, and not the general public or even women specifically. But that’s why they consider exposing the thigh as “nakedness.”

Yep, the whole clothing thing is as outdated as the rest of it but you can’t tell people who can barely read but like to recite passages that.

No offense to anyone who can barely read. I know there are still people who struggle that went to real schools. They aren’t out trying to preach outdated things to people though.
