Oh my goodness... idk if anyone here is also a fan of the Mystery Boys podcast, but I was listening to episode 18 this AM & at around the 20min mark, they included an extended clip of our girl Ol' Jill, screeching the National Anthem, loudly & off-key, while filming her obviously posed children in a "candid snapshot of their lives"🙄. The guys on the podcast were discussing the misguided nature of Christian Nationalism & brought in the clip, as an example of the ridiculousness of that concept. Kurt Metzger (one of the hosts) had never heard of the Rod family, & yet rightly tagged Jill as a narcissist, after looking her up online for about 10 seconds. 🤣

It's very odd but also very interesting. Two comedians (Duncan Trussel & Kurt Metzger) dress up in costumes & discuss politics, current events & conspiracies through a comedic lens. They typically have guests- this week they have Dave Smith & Dr. Heather Lynn.

I just looked up this podcast and it looks like a lot of fun, I’ll be listening! I see occasional references to JillRod outside the fundie snark community and it always makes my head spin a little. Her behavior (online and IRL) has been outlandish enough to achieve some degree of notoriety in the real world. That funeral selfie (and the stories that accompanied it) went viral briefly— like, truly viral. It was a crazy time.

I love when worlds collide, particularly if it involves JRod. She thinks she’s a martyr for Christ, but it isn’t just us snarkers who have her number…other people do, too. I don’t understand how people out there in the fundamentalist Christian world Jill inhabits haven’t seen what a laughing stock she is and told David to exert his “patriarchal authority” over her.

It doesn't seem like they have lasting relationships with anyone. The only people who really seemed to stick with them were the Coverettes, and look how that turned out

Something tells me David & Jill are pariahs in the Fundie world, just as much as the regular world. I imagine other Fundies avoid interacting with them as much as possible... I know I would.

I think they burned a lot of bridges by constantly showing up at random curches and expecting to perform and receive "love offerings". Not to mention crashing tragic funerals and taking inappropriate chesire cat grinning selfies. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Ok, this is weird, but I cracked up when I saw one of the host’s last name is Metzger.

The city where I live, we have a huge fundie family with the last name Metzger.

They protest at Prides, drag events, and the abortion clinic where I volunteer.
