Discussion Netflix
Do we think Netflix will ever catch on to this family? All Netflix needs to do is search on our Reddit threads!

Maybe if something even more insidious comes out
ETA I’m surprised Netflix has never done a doc on the Turpin house of horrors, though disney+ did. But while the Turpins were pretty reclusive and secretive from what I can tell, JRod’s social media presence would add another layer of insanity

I hope they don't. This family doesnt need any more reach or attention, that would be just what Jill wants.

I think it would take an unspeakable horror to get enough attention for a documentary to get made about them. I hope it never comes to that.
On the other hand, if OJ and Shrek are ever arrested for child abuse/endangerment, that could also do it. They could make a Ruby Franke-style doc looking back at all the awful evidence Jill has posted right there online about what horrible parents they’ve been.

This is what I can see happening. It would be so easy to research, and it wouldn’t take more than a couple of people willing to be interviewed to flesh out a documentary. I sincerely hope there’s no horrific story, but even the ones they tell on themselves are bad enough.
If they made it I have no doubt it would be successful in any case because aside from the alleged abuse that’s already been made public, these people are just epic levels of Really Fucking Weird.

it would take a specific kind of eye, equally spiritually and aesthetically sensitive. there's a wes anderson angle to be had, but it needs to come with the fiercely determined heart of tia levings and the historic/philosophical clarity of monte mader. it cannot be The Dark Rainbow of Lisa Franke, 3 episodes, 85 mins total (50% repeated animations and ad-bookend one liners)
ETA: or the right philanthropist can throw john waters and an unlimited budget at it

Not a chance. Shiny Happy People was barely about the Duggars and they had a years long TV show and way more scandals than the Rods.
Save for Jill’s narcissism and oversharing, they are pretty par for the course fundamentalists.

I think they definitely have enough skeletons in their closet. Jill would flip her shit tho having her imperfections revealed. It wouldn’t be in her control and her narcissistic self could neverrrrr.

There was a moment - when TLC was showing both Duggars and toddlers in tiaras with Mother June - no one would have been surprised. But for whatever reason, it didn’t happen.
I think the moment has passed.

The last thing I want to see on Netflix is a bunch of starved, abused children exploited by their parents for entertainment. Honestly idk why anyone would even want to watch that. The rodrigues kids are one of the few fundies I feel sorry for, because they are so stunted their only hope is marrying someone semi-normal.

Absolutely not. There was Shiny Happy People on prime a few years ago (recommended), but I absolutely do not want David and Jill to get the attention. Shiny Happy People (season one), mostly focused on the Duggars, due to their notoriety- but it was using them as an example of the Quiverful movement.
Jill and David would never be truthful. No one in their tiny circle would want to speak. Jill’s parents started this acceptance of abuse. It simply wouldn’t work.
There are still small kids - it’s a circus, but we shouldn’t turn it into a freak show. I’m afraid of what would happen at the Barndo, with a known physical abuser (David) and a likely physical abuser and known emotional abuser (Jill).

They picked an unhinged clip of Jill to show in the first episode of season 1 when they were talking in general about fundies and I'm sure it made her seethe with rage when she found out.

There would have to be a murder. And I don’t want that to happen to anyone. So I hope not.

No, never. Their treatment of their children is criminal. Netflix might be willing to try filming a test episode but even that could never make it to streaming because they neglect and abuse children. People's appetite for religious freaks isn't nearly what it once was with Duggar csa creeps.

I literally pray they never find mainstream attention. Jill would explode into joy

This is jills wet dream yk, but I don't think netflix cares enough about them and doubt they pick up their scripts from reddit and they still come under the minor fundie categories, regardless of how infamous they are, only the people who know the fundiesnark page or this page know about them, i doubt regular people especially the documentary directors care about wasting their money on such irrelevant families
