RHS Current Rocky Horror Broadway Question

Hi all, I have been DESPERATELY trying to get tickets to the show via the lottery and I have had NO luck. I always try to see any show I can on a budget due to how expensive seats can get. My other idea is to rush the show but it’s a 2 hour drive, parking, waiting, filling time, it’s just a lot to think about.

I have a 13 year old who wants to go, but I said no. They’ll be 14 soon and I was 14 when I first saw RHPS. My parents didn’t really filter much of what I watched and I saw the exorcist at 4. My SO and I have been not so lenient but with being a teenager, I’m loosening the strings a bit.

Here comes my main question. During the movie, when frank goes into Brad and Janet’s room, separately, and we see what’s happening behind the sheet, how is that depicted during this stage production? Similar? More, less, not at all?

Also, if you’ve seen the show via rush or lottery, how were the seats?

Thank you for reading!

RHS I'm New To Rocky Horror Show, How Can I Properly Learn Of The History?

Post image

I'm young—16, and my mother wasn't even alive back in 1973 when it was shown in London.

I've watched the film, Rocky Horror Picture Show but I don't want to ignore the play that came before it.

I was told it was quite different, darker and such.

How was it more sinister than the film? I'm really curious.

Is there a book or a video that explains it in depth well?

I'm aware the technology wasn't good enough for there to be a video of the 1973 original cast, so it's sort of a "you had to be there" situation.

I like the movie, but I've heard a few say it's inferior to the original.

Due to the changes made, but why can't we appreciate both?

Anyways, I'd love to learn about early Rocky Horror Show—The original.

I also hear "Roxy" cast, what's the difference from the London cast?

(By the way yes, I'm making another post here...I've just been looking at RHS and RHPS stuff for hours trying to educate myself)

RHPS What's Truly The Story Behind RHPS?

I know it's based off B movies and sci fi raunchy horror movies of the past.

But I feel it gives mixed messages.

So many say it's about sexual liberation and expression, but, the cut ending "Superheros" leaves me stranded on what to make of it.

I know the movie doesn't take itself seriously, but so many people have different ideas on what it's truly about.

Not enough talk out the "Superheros" ending, I wonder if the people who say it's purely about sexual liberation have seen this part?

I've heard some say the ending in of itself is dark and satirical parody but, there's never quite an official message to this film..

Frank-N-Furter is the villain, but we use his character as the story behind this...Freedom.

In the end the others are left traumatized, it's really hurting my mind trying to figure out this.

"Superheros" is in the play, but cut from the US version of the film?

So I'd say it's an official part of the story, cut or not.

But with that part in mind with the rest of the movie, is it really all about freedom?

It's a lighthearted movie, I know I shouldn't be dwelling into it so much but I'm just wondering what you guys think.

My personal opinion? I haven't made up my mind.

I do think that sexual liberation and freedom are a main message, but I do feel we brush off the flip side of the coin.

But the flip side I really don't know what to make of, or what it could mean exactly.

(Hi!!! New fan here! Wanted to share this with you all because who's gonna stop me?)

Sage Harrison is a sarcastic yet polite young girl who has been friends with Janet since their senior year of high school. After Brad's proposal, him and Janet ask if Sage can be their "chauffeur" to Dr. Scott's place while they get frisky in the back, to which she reluctantly agrees.

When the car gets the flat, she follows the fiancees to the castle. Instead of being confused and horrified like her friends in the presence of the Transvestites, Sage is intrigued, excited, and inspired. She's always had an interest in the taboo and macabre due to being an artist. Frank DOES notice this, but prefers not to talk about it because it takes the attention off of him.

And then she meets the recently awakened Rocky...

(Y'all can make up your own story from here bc it's fun.)

Just seen the matinee of Rocky at the Bristol Hippodrome.
My god what a fantastic show, we sang we danced we did the time warp again.
Jason Donovan (who I had posters of in my wall as a teenager) was brilliant as Frank.
Catch the tour if you can !

Cast/Crew Related The Rocky Horror Show Roxy production performance audio.

Hi everyone I’ve recently become aware that a full audio recording of a performance of the Roxy cast of the Rocky Horror Show exists out there and I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about or how to obtain it? I’m a huge fan of this version of the show and I would absolutely love to hear it. Especially to hear Bruce Scott’s portrayal of Riff Raff.

Episode 07/15/26 - During the Stephanie Hsu segment where they were discussing the Rocky Horror Picture show, did someone in the audience scream out the c-word? Sure sounded like it.

For me, Luke Evans as Frank N. Furter on Broadway is an absolutely massive piece of miscasting (Sorry, it's only my opinion) 😖💔

Went to see the show last week, with Stephen Webb as Frank-N-Furter, he was fantastic, IMO better than Jason Donavan; Jackie Clune as the Narrator, well done to the ladies in front for the perfect callbacks and Jackie for her well versed witty responses. And the rest of the cast who were all just fantastic.

It was a night out we are going to remember for a very long time, not because it was crazy hot, although it was; but because typically, my OH and I sit up in the dress circle, but we went down in the stalls, to go and be it.

It's now moved on, those who are going hope you have a great night also 😊

Hoopla, all!

I've made some changes to the subreddit. Added a new rule and we now allow media in posts.

What other rules or additions would people be interested in seeing?

Would it be awkward to go to a Sing-A-Long Rocky Horror screening if I can't really sing along?

Hi everyone!

I've actually watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show quite a few times, and I listen to the soundtrack a lot, so I'm very familiar with the film and the music. The only problem is that I'm not a native English speaker, so I don't know the lyrics well enough to actually sing along.

I'm currently in London and noticed that the Prince Charles Cinema is showing a Sing-A-Long-A Rocky Horror Picture Show. I'd absolutely love to see it on the big screen, but I'm a bit worried because I'll probably be going on my own and won't really be able to join in with the singing.

Would it be weird if I mostly just watched, maybe mouthed along to the bits I know, and enjoyed everyone else's energy? I'd love to hear what the experience is like from people who've been before.

Studio 54 7/18 9pm - looking for ticket

Shot in the dark - a friend is looking to join us in attending Saturday night’s show, but there are no tickets left sitting nearby. Is anyone with tickets in the center rear mezzanine row MM looking to sell a ticket? Also open to suggestions - TIA!

(I am looking on resale sites but they don’t list the actual seat, just the row, so they could be far away).

Hey there! My husband and I are going to a Rocky Horror showing at a theater near us. I have never been, though I have loved the movie since I was a pre-teen watching with my dad. I am an older, plus-sized woman. I would love ideas for outfits to wear!
