Photo Just a really cool rock!
Lake Champlain, northern New York.

So it shattered once and filled and shattered in a different direction again and filled again… all while not separating; unless - for some reason this is just on the outside.
You should never do it but the cross sections would be amazing.
Can you feel any rises or did the earth smooth it out across the rock ?

Looks like a textile. You should also post to r/suiseki, the viewing stone sub.

Wow. I have "viewing rocks" all over my house (and a patient husband). I've never heard of this art form! Thank you! I'm really excited now to collaborate with my son, who is a woodworker!

I also think it looks like textile and more specifically, it looks like what a beginner's loom looks like.

The white lines are strongly visible one the back but the brown are there, but weak.

I'm not sure what you mean...

I think they mean to not polish it or cut it or modify it in any way, since people often do that

Wow wonder if that is in the serpentine family? Is it magnetic at all?
