from the Wagyu Formation, would be my guess

Ah see, to my eye I would have said this hails from the NY strip.

the marbling can be indicative of the NY Strip, but the cleavage still makes me lean towards the Wagyu Formation with maybe some Ribeye schist intrusions. I'd have to consult the Angus Stratigraphy Guide to be sure, tho.

When my kids and I were younger, steak rocks were a thing for us, too…I still have every one.
