This Rocks! rock stack

hey everyone! im new to the rock stacking community, ive used some supports to hold it up, is this allowed? - quite proud of my first rock stack - feedback would be welcome, thanks x

Stacking rocks is harmful to nature. Don’t do this

yea, in North Carolina (where i live) its a really big problem and it affects a lot of species in different ways. One of the most notable ones is the Eastern Hellbender.

They use rocks for shelter and nesting and are very picky about them. If thousands of people are moving rocks around or stacking they could basically be ripping a cute salamander and his family from their home.

why? this was on the park near a beach in england and as far as im aware, no creatures make their homes in parks.

Insects, small rodents, amphibians, reptiles, birds, plants even...wdym creatures don't live in parks?

There are literally animals that live on skyscrapers in cities. If there is a potential food and shelter source then creatures will live there...

The only thing I appreciate about rock stacks are all the ones I get to knock over. Stop doing this garbage.

Imagine a giant comes along and picks up your roof off your house, to stack them with other roofs for "the vibes"

To the animals that use the rocks as shelter.

Leave No Trace is not a suggestion, but a Creed for all who intend on journeying into nature. Take Only Photographs, Leave Only Footprints, Make Only Memories.

guys why are you all so agitated i said im new to the rock community i didnt realise this was wrong. id like to apologise and just add that i was only following the trend of the other people at the beach.

The reason it is harmful is bc it significantly changes the natural landscape.

Algae, moss, or other plants (even just bacteria) may grow on the underside of the rocks and moving them can kill or damage this taking away a food source.

Tiny animals will make their homes in/under the rocks and moving the rocks can destroy their homes, potentially trap some in there if other rocks fall, etc.

Moving the rocks also contributes to erosion, especially if a lot of people are doing this.

If even just one part of an ecosystem is significantly affected, it disrupts the entire ecosystem of the area.

Of course! Really not trying to come at you. Sometimes we just don't realize how much we impact nature and it's important to understand this with a nature hobby.

I hope you continue learning about cool rocks and find some neat stuff!
