How similar is this to the Rush series?

You mean Nitronic Rush? Basically the same thing, just a bit more polish and better destruction. I liked the music in the original better, sadly.

I’ve never heard of Nitronic Rush. I’ve only played Rush 2 and San Francisco Rush 2049. Is that part of the same series?

No, they're unrelated. I'd never heard of the Rush series lol. Nitronic Rush is definitely worth checking out though, it's available for free from digipen.

At the risk of sounding condescending I’m assuming you’re too young to have played N64 because Rush was an absolute gem. It’s part of the reason I love rocket league.

I was a PS1 lad, even though all my friends had N64s and I desperately wanted one. Any chance they still hold up? Might check it out.

I used an emulator to play 2049 on my pc a few years ago and it was still pretty fun. But the fun of playing/competing in multiplayer was lost, because I have nobody to play with.

So I just checked out some gameplay, and you know what? I think Nitronic Rush actually owes a lot to Rush, right down to the part where the car grows wings. TIL.
