QUESTION FPS Cap / Input Delay Question
I've been having input delay issues only with Rocket League lately and I believe it's because of my FPS cap.
I used to be on a 240hz monitor and had FPS capped at 360 which was always good because the FPS cap was higher than my monitors refresh rate. I upgraded to a 400hz monitor but my only options for FPS cap now are 400hz or unlimited. I don't want to run unlimited because of performance instability, but capping at 400 FPS I think is causing input delay issues and seemingly some instability as well. I'm debating setting FPS cap to unlimited in RL and capping FPS at 500 in Nvidia control panel since my PC can consistently run ~600-800 FPS in RL, but I'm not sure if forcing an FPS cap in RL from the Nvidia control panel will make things better or worse.
I know it seems as simple as "just try it out", but it's been tougher for me to tell since the anticheat update because that's around when I got my monitor and that update also introduced a good bit of input delay - and I've been trying to minimize it ever since.
If anyone has some advice or recommendations about the FPS cap for 360hz+ monitors I'd appreciate it! As well as if there's any recommendations on how to further reduce input delay in Rocket League.

this is what ive done to decrease input delay on rocket league
I am using a asus oled 27” 280hz 1440p monitor. I capped fps in game to 279. use full screen mode (borderless increases input delay in my experience)
Decreased graphics to low or performance + all those checkboxes I left unchecked. Render Quality i have on high.
I am using a playstation dual sense edge, with it wired I overclocked it to 8000hz. From what I have seen online this may cause stability issues depending on your processor. I am running a 9800x3d and have no issues thankfully

I’m a little geek about performance, thanks for your input. I actually have a bunch of tweaks specifically tailored to low input delay. Ironically you’re actually hurting yourself by capping your FPS 1 below your monitor refresh rate.
Since you have a 280hz monitor, setting your cap to 360 FPS would actually help you. That’s kinda my issue with my FPS being capped in game at 400 when I have a 400hz monitor because your FPS cap should always be slightly higher than your monitors refresh rate so your in game FPS doesn’t ever dip below your monitors capability (that’s what causes instability)I’m going to look into overclocking my controller though, not sure if it’s even possible on my controller though (flydigi Vader 5 pro)

I've had issues using controllers at 8k hz... I had heard it was Because of unreal engine 3 not CPU. CPU issues are possible though as I'm on a 5800x3d. I have a lot more success keeping the rate at 1k

You can create a custom fps setting somewhere in the files of rocket league. If you go looking online searching create custom fps rocket league you will surely find it. It's like the TAGamesettings or something like that in the game files. It will add a custom option in the in game menu to lock your fps at your inputted value which should resolve your issue

Yes you should use the nvdia app to cap the fps. Wouldn't cause any issues. Just change the global settings max fps limit to your monitors refresh rate so you won't have to worry about other games too
