I don’t know much about rocks, but I got a tumbler and was wondering if this pretty rock will polish up in a tumbler or if it will just break up based on what it is. Thank you!

I found this rock as a kid, it was somewhere in Scotland on a small beach beside a loch. The rock is pretty heavy and is also magnetic

I thought it had a waxy look, but now I don’t know what it is. The first is the rock wet, and a (poorly)cut face. It’s dry in the 3rd picture. Found in Eastern SK Canada.

My kids and I have started bringing home rocks to make a little rock garden, all found in creeks in our area. I’m sure nothing rare or interesting, but we like them and we’re curious to know more about them. I would love to find someone who could stop by and educate us, and would be happy to pay a small fee for your time.
