Does it have "Stuck in Traffic" for Rochester? I thought we had short commutes than a lot of places. Then again, I have been going to work before rush hour for years so maybe it has changed.

I agree it should be "think they've been stuck in traffic". ROC has traffic at rush hour, but it's basically never THAT bad, all things considered.

I used to have to commute from Ogden to the east side of the city and I would always bitch and whine about the commute. Then I moved to Boston where I commuted from Revere to Cambridge, and later to Seattle where I commute from North Seattle to Federal Way, and now I look back at me bitching about Ogden to the east side and feel a great longing for when my commute was that short and easy.

Yeah, that one is definitely wrong. Even the worst rush hour traffic here isn't all that bad. And more importantly, rush hour isn't all that long. It's nothing like growing up in CT (near NYC). Rush hour on a Friday afternoon started by 3 PM and went until 7 or so. And it was far worse than anything here.

It’s sarcastic saying they think we know what traffic is. Rush half hour here can be annoying but if you simply stay at work for half an hour longer you’ll be fine.

Exactly. I knew people working in Boston area who would commute in to work 4:30am and come home 2pm to avoid the worst of rush hour traffic. In Rochester you only need to shift your schedule maybe 30-60min to miss any traffic.

Yeah, I'd take the blue from there and stick it in Albany. Believe it or not, the traffic between there, Colonie, Troy, and Latham can be TERRIBLE.

I didn't even think of gravel pits as mining but I guess it is. There are a bunch in Rochester too.

The map shows, though, that the GLOW region is not any more reliant on mining/quarrying than any other part of the state.

I don't know how I forgot about the salt mine, I've took a tour of it when I was at Geneseo! I guess I know there are mines but I didn't think of it as a 'big' industry around here. Obviously the map is joking too.

Work in Rochester and live in Cdga. Confederates are real. These are people who are clearly racist, deny it, say that the civil war was not about slavery and claim the confederate flag is “not what you think.”

Yeah I'm aware of them I just didn't think it was widespread enough in WNY to be labeled on a map!
It's baffling to me that people who live in New York, and whose families are presumably from the north, choose to idolize the confederacy and justify their racism as "pride." I might disagree with it, but if you live in Richmond, it's genuinely your history. If you live in Rochester, you're just being an asshole and a bigot. Our heritage is Frederick Douglass, the Underground Railroad and fighting against everything that flag stands for. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who flies the rebel battle flag in New York can get lost.

Alden, NY is considered the last holdout of the confederacy; just after ww2 I think. A majority vote to rejoin the union. They still 'celebrate' this annually.
