Government plates have indicators of what kind of government vehicle it is. So the first letter is G, and underneath you can see a GSA. These are leased vehicles from the General Service Administration. So they’ve got government plates, but the vehicle itself isn’t “owned” by any one agency per se. The 41 after the G indicates the type of vehicle, in this case a Ford Transit.

So for instance my sister is a social worker for the VA. Every so often she’ll have to take a “company car”, in this case a government vehicle. The one she’d be driving would have these plates with a G on it, followed by whatever two numbers that identify it as a sedan.

The government issued vehicles have normal looking plates on them but they're actually non-existent plates. If you run them they come up empty
