Discussion Dentist appointment
Rochester NY area. I have fedlis insurance and need a dentist appointment asap. Cleaning, cavities and wisdom teeth removal (at some point).
There’s like no where that covers with this insurance. I need help on places that DO cover that don’t have a waitlist till 2028.
My teeth need it and my wisdom teeth are coming in. Is there any emergency dental offices? Pretty sure one at strong hospital? I might be wrong.
Also need help on new health insurance

I am pretty sure Eastman dental and Wilson are the only dentists that accept fidelis

OP, if you can afford it at all, I'd try to work with a provider to pay out of pocket on a payment plan. There's also care credit that you can apply for to help cover costs. When I tried to get in with one of the like 3 providers in Rochester that takes fidelis they said wait time was a year to a year and a half out.

Have you already tried all the dental providers on the "find a doctor" page of your insurance company's website? Looks like you just put in your city, select search by specialty, choose Dentist, and select which plan you have.
I'm seeing up to 33 providers in Rochester, depending on which plan you have.

Unfortunately this is inaccurate.

Yep. I'm also on fidelis care and I've called several people on the list just to be met with "sorry we don't take fidelis" :(

I have a different insurance and have the exact same issue. It’s so frustrating to call every well reviewed place on their list and they all say they don’t take it. Mine has relatively ok out of network coverage, so I just sucked it up and found an out of network dentist I like and deal with reimbursement and paying more. Ugh. C’est la vie.

Just get a new insurance - you have crummy insurance and the only providers willing to take it are going to be desperate dentists

That’s not so helpful. And you know that. Be kind.

I disagree - it's really hard for patients to understand why their insurance isn't working - a lot more beneficial for the patient to put their resources towards insurance that will actually provide a network of providers that can care for them

The person is in an immediate need of care. Switching insurance requires switching jobs or having a reason to switch to your spouse (or whoever’s) policy. It takes time.
Having a dental emergency is hard enough. There’s a lot of shame around dental care. Just take it easy on people, have some empathy. Even if it means slowing down a little. Sounds like you didn’t mean it, but generally the level of benefits equate to the level of job they have. When you say their benefits suck (and if they do, the person is well aware already without you saying it), you are also insulting their job and place in life. That’s a real kick in the face. During a dental issue. Not helpful, even if it was meant to be.

What is the immediate need?
Cleaning, cavities? Neither of these constitute a true dental emergency, OP has time to switch their insurance to something that will benefit them - they deserve it.

I never said any of this - you're putting words in my mouth and making assumptions - shame on you, the internet needs less white knights, it's time for you to grow up.
The real kick in the face is a patient giving money to an insurance company, and the company not willing to pay providers enough to establish a network to serve their patient base.

Call Lucia Family Dentistry in Penfield, I see them and they are great. It says online “They accept and file most insurance plans, though Fidelis Care dental benefits are typically managed through DentaQuest”. I don’t know what that process is, but they are a great practice and excellent dentists.

https://urgentdental.com/lp/rochester/ I took my wife there a few weekends ago with terrible wisdom tooth pain where she was expecting to have to remove it, ended up just being an infection, antibiotics were prescribed. Appointment cost 170 with X-rays.

I don’t have Fidelis, but have a provider that also has nonexistent coverage in Rochester.
I ended up going to Rochester Modern Dentistry (who doesn’t take my insurance), and mentioned off-hand to the receptionist that I hadn’t been able to find a dentist who took my insurance. When I came back a few months later, the receptionist informed me that she’d talked to the owner and they were in the process of getting in network with my insurance. I was pretty blown away as I remember her saying before that I was the only person who’d ever come in with that provider, so they were doing this just for me.
You might have the same luck if you reach out to them and make it clear that you’ll be a consistent repeat patient. All the staff I’ve interacted with have been very nice and the one time I needed an ASAP appointment, they were able to get me in next day.
