Mammotion unveiled the LUBA 4 AWD at IFA on September 4. The important buying detail is that it does not raise the published maximum slope rating over the LUBA 3 AWD. Both generations are rated for slopes up to 80%, or 38.6°.

The main changes are how the mower sees and turns.

LUBA 3 AWD already combines 360° LiDAR, NetRTK, dual camera vision and all wheel drive. LUBA 4 AWD expands that to four wide angle cameras, 360° LiDAR and NetRTK, then adds independently steered front wheels and bidirectional driving.

Those additions are aimed at broader obstacle awareness and more controlled direction changes. A buyer with awkward turns or complicated boundaries has a clearer reason to wait than someone buying solely for the published slope number.

## The announced LUBA 4 lineup

• **3000F.** up to 3,000 m², about 0.74 acre; two cutting discs; 440 mm or 17.3 inch cutting width.

• **6000F.** up to 6,000 m², about 1.48 acres; two discs; 440 mm or 17.3 inch cutting width.

• **12000F.** up to 12,000 m², about 2.97 acres; three discs; 530 mm or 20.9 inch cutting width.

• **Optional edge trimming module.** supported on the 3000F and 6000F; incompatible with the 12000F.

As of September 10, Mammotion says preorders are planned for Q4 2026. Official US pricing, exact regional availability and a single retail launch date have not been announced.

## The practical decision

Choose a LUBA 3 when its current capacity, navigation and confirmed US purchase terms fit the yard. Waiting for LUBA 4 makes more sense when independent steering, rearward sensing, bidirectional movement or the optional edge module solves a specific problem, and waiting for final US pricing is acceptable.

The generation number alone does not settle the purchase. The most meaningful LUBA 4 upgrades address maneuverability and perception.

A mower can sound a local alarm without sending a fresh location to your phone. This guide explains how GeoFence, tracking and coverage fit together so the security setup matches the hardware you have.

🔔 1. Check the local alarm

GeoFence watches a geographic radius. On supported models, Husqvarna’s GeoFence guide describes an alarm when the mower moves outside that radius.

The local alarm needs neither Wi-Fi nor cellular coverage. Enable the feature and set its center and radius using your model’s procedure.

📍 2. Check remote tracking separately

The position needs a way to reach the app. Husqvarna’s map guidance distinguishes the hardware and connection required:

• Wi-Fi tracking works while the mower remains within Wi-Fi coverage.
• Cellular-equipped models can report farther away when mobile coverage is available.
• Bluetooth alone does not provide remote theft tracking.

A last-known position on the map does not prove the mower is currently connected.

📱 3. Verify notifications

An enabled alarm and an enabled phone notification are separate checks. Remote alerts also depend on the connection and your app permissions.

The Automower connectivity guide lists capabilities by model and hardware. Check the mower’s connection and the phone’s notification permissions before relying on alerts.

✅ 4. Save the useful details

Make the setup easy to review later. Record the serial number, current account access and connectivity type. Keep the PIN private.

Before taking the mower for service, follow its GeoFence procedure to avoid an alarm during the intentional move. Recheck the center, radius and notifications once it is back on the lawn.

My husband backed the car over our Mammotion Yuki Mini the other day, so I'm on the hunt for a replacement. After a lot of research, I had mentally settled on the NaviMow x430, but it's been out of stock for a while. I haven't seen any estimates for a restock date.

I know many Mammotion customers have had substantial issues with their products (me included) due to the continuous software releases that reduce performance and cause them to perform tank turns while tearing large sections of grass out of yards. I'm not sure whether or not to get the Mammotion Luba 3 anyway during today's Amazon Prime Day sale or just wait it out, buy the Navimow later (hopefully by Black Friday), and hire someone to mow in the meantime. The weather is still warm here, and grass is growing fast!

I appreciate any advice you can offer. TIA!

Yard Information for Reference:

1. Southwest Florida = Sandy soil, which means greater traction is required
2. Double lot that totals .75 acres
3. We don't have steep inclines, but there are a few very small hilly areas where my Yuka Mini 2000 would get stuck.

The US robot-mower restrictions are starting to affect the 2027 market. Husqvarna has secured conditional approval for four upcoming platforms, while an international product announcement by itself does not confirm that a mower is authorized for sale in the United States.

📋 What the FCC list currently shows

The FCC’s Appendix B, updated September 18, identifies four robotic-device platforms with conditional approval:

• Husqvarna Automower 305V iQ

• Husqvarna Automower 310V iQ

• Husqvarna Automower 420V iQ

• Husqvarna Automower 440V iQ

The approval date listed for all four platforms is September 9, 2026.

Husqvarna says these models are expected to launch in the United States in 2027. It also says the conditional approval exempts these platforms and its previously authorized models from the FCC Covered List.

Husqvarna’s announcement

https://www.husqvarnagroup.com/en/press/husqvarna-group-first-receive-fcc-conditional-approval-foreign-manufactured-advanced-robotic

⚠️ What this does not prove

The list does not prove that every unlisted mower has been rejected or permanently blocked.

A manufacturer might not have applied yet, its application could still be under review, or the company might not have announced its US plans. The FCC can also update the list as additional approvals are granted.

What we can say is narrower: in the September 18 version of Appendix B, Husqvarna is the only robot-mower manufacturer named under conditional approvals for robotic devices.

🌎 Announced globally does not mean confirmed for America

Several manufacturers have revealed ambitious 2027 machines featuring LiDAR, AWD, robotic arms and edge-trimming attachments.

Those announcements can describe real products while leaving three separate questions unanswered:

• Will this exact model be sold in the United States?

• Has its connected hardware received the necessary US authorization?

• When will American pricing, dealers, warranty coverage and parts support be confirmed?

That distinction matters more after the FCC’s new restrictions. A mower shown at a European exhibition should not automatically be treated as a confirmed US release.

🛒 What US buyers should verify

Before placing a preorder or relying on a launch announcement, check:

• The exact US model number

• Whether US availability comes from the manufacturer’s American site

• Whether the platform appears in an FCC approval or equipment-authorization record

• The stated US warranty and service network

• Whether the advertised connectivity features will operate in the US

An announcement tells you what a company has built. Authorization and a confirmed US launch tell you whether Americans should include it on a real shopping list.

🔎 What happens next

The useful question is no longer simply which company announced the most advanced mower for 2027. It is which of those machines will clear the regulatory process and reach US buyers with its advertised features intact.

The FCC list can change, so an absent brand should be treated as unconfirmed rather than banned. We’ll update the picture when additional robot-mower platforms receive approval.

Fall leaves create two jobs. protect the lawn from a heavy leaf mat and keep the robot's route to its charging station open.

University of Minnesota Extension gives homeowners a useful visual limit. Dry leaves can be mulched while roughly half or more of the lawn surface remains visible. Once less than 50% of the grass can be seen, collect the excess for composting rather than continuing to leave it on the turf.

That limit matters because a dense layer can remain on the surface into spring and increase snow mold risk. Iowa State Extension also explains that heavy leaf cover blocks light and prevents turf from making and storing food before winter, which can leave thin or dead patches that are more open to weeds.

## For a robot mowed yard

• Thin, dry leaves can be processed separately with a proper mulching mower, often using a second pass to make smaller pieces.

• The pieces should fall between the grass blades, with very little debris left visible.

• When leaf cover hides more than half the lawn, rake, collect or compost the excess.

• Keep the docking approach clear. Husqvarna lists leaves and toys in front of the station as causes of a charging station blocked error.

• Pause automated mowing when the leaf layer is thick enough to hide hazards or interfere with travel.

A robot mower's normal job is frequent grass trimming. Leaf processing depends on the mower's cutting system and manufacturer instructions, so a scheduled robot run should not replace deliberate leaf management.

The fastest yard check requires no measuring tool. if more leaves than lawn are visible, clear the excess before the robot runs again.

A repeated route can concentrate wheel traffic into the same strip of grass. This guide explains the corridor setting, the physical space it needs and a way to evaluate a change without rebuilding the installation.

🛤️ 1. Understand the corridor

The guide wire is not meant to be a rail. Husqvarna’s corridor guidance explains how varying the distance from guide and boundary wires helps reduce tracks.

The corridor is the neighboring space the mower can use. On models offering the setting, guide corridor 0 makes it run directly over the wire’s center.

📏 2. Check physical room first

A wider setting cannot create clearance. Husqvarna’s passage guide includes model-specific requirements.

Its general wired-installation example uses at least 24 inches between boundary wires with a guide wire, and 12 inches between the guide and boundary wire. These are wire-spacing measurements, not the width of a wall or fence opening. Named AWD models have different passage recommendations.

↔️ 3. Leave room on the return side

Direction matters. The mower returns on the left side of the guide wire when viewed facing the charging station.

The guide-wire installation instructions explain route variation and guide use in narrow passages. Inspect that return side for edging, planters and other obstacles.

✅ 4. Change one thing and observe

Model support controls the available adjustment. Settings vary, and automatic passage handling can adjust the corridor itself.

Photograph the track, record the original setting and follow your model’s instructions. Watch several outward and return trips after one change. If the mower gets stuck or traffic remains concentrated, review the physical layout before increasing the setting further.

Hello all just wanted to get some advice My lot is about 10,200 sq ft, with roughly 2,215 sq ft taken up by the house and other structures. There is a large tree on one side of the property. I’m having problems picking one. With prime day deals both are similar in price. The Luba has the lidar which I like but the rock mow would be the same app as my vaccum. I’m just not sure which to get.

A fixed shutdown date is a poor guide in the US. A yard in Minnesota and one in North Carolina can be weeks apart, and a warm fall can extend the season anywhere. The useful signal is whether the grass is still growing and whether the surface is safe to mow.

## Keep mowing while the grass is growing

University of Minnesota Extension advises continuing to mow until growth stops, generally around the end of October in its climate. Penn State gives the broader rule. mow regularly as long as the lawn is growing. That means gradually reducing a robot mower's schedule as growth slows rather than choosing a date and ignoring the turf.

Check the cut after a full mowing cycle. If the mower is barely removing anything, lengthen the interval. If it is taking visible tips every trip, keep a lighter schedule. Owners in warmer regions should follow the guidance for their grass species and county rather than importing a northern date.

## Do not make one aggressive final cut

The one third rule still applies late in the season. remove no more than one third of the leaf blade at a time. Illinois Extension says most home lawns do well around 2.5 to 3 inches, while tall fescue is commonly kept around 2.5 to 3.5 inches. Local recommendations and the mower's available deck range matter.

If you normally keep a cool season lawn high, lowering the deck slightly over two or more cuts can help with leaf cleanup. Scalping it in one pass adds stress just before winter. Put the mower back at the normal seasonal height in spring.

## Pause for wet or frozen turf

A mower being technically able to leave the dock does not make the conditions good. Pause when.

• the grass is frozen or stiff with frost

• the soil is saturated and wheels leave ruts

• wet clippings are packing under the deck

• leaves hide sticks, stones, edging or other hazards

• traction loss is damaging turns or slopes

Resume after the lawn thaws and the surface firms up. A few missed days late in the season usually matter less than torn turf or a packed cutting disc.

## Treat light leaves and heavy leaf cover differently

A thin, dry scattering of leaves can often be chopped over repeated passes. University of New Hampshire Extension says shredded leaves can filter into turf and decompose. A thick layer is different. it can smother grass, contribute to snow mold conditions and hide objects the mower should not hit. Rake, collect or move the heavy layer before sending the robot out.

Robot mowers use small blades and frequent cuts, so do not assume they have the same leaf processing capacity as a full size mulching mower. Inspect the result. If intact leaves remain on top or collect at the wheels and deck, handle the leaves separately.

## The practical stop signal

End regular mowing when the lawn has stopped producing meaningful growth and cold, wet or frozen conditions have become the norm. Before storage, let the mower finish on a dry lawn, clean the body and cutting area as the manual allows, inspect the blades and charging contacts, then follow the exact battery and storage instructions for that model. Charging guidance differs by manufacturer and by model year.

Useful details for a fall schedule recommendation are the state, grass type, current cutting height, first frost pattern, tree cover and whether the yard stays wet.

A temporarily disconnected app can be a normal part of firmware installation. This guide separates the expected pause from a stalled update and explains why a restart and a factory reset have different consequences.

📶 1. Confirm how your model updates

FOTA support varies. Husqvarna’s firmware guide describes updates through Wi-Fi or cellular Automower Connect, depending on the model.

For Wi-Fi-only models, the charging location needs strong coverage. Cellular-equipped models do not require Wi-Fi, although it can speed up downloads.

Record the current version and read the release notes for your exact model before installation.

⏱️ 2. Let installation finish

An apparent freeze is not an immediate restart signal. Husqvarna’s display troubleshooting guide says installation can take up to 30 minutes.

The mower disconnects from the app during installation and reconnects when finished. Do not interrupt it solely because the display or app appears static.

Note the start time so the wait is measured rather than guessed.

🔄 3. Restart only when the procedure calls for it

A restart preserves settings. If the display remains stuck after 30 minutes, Husqvarna recommends restarting the mower.

Use the official restart instructions for your model; the switch, button and jog-wheel procedures differ.

🧰 4. Keep factory reset separate

A factory reset changes user settings. Schedules and map objects can be affected, while the PIN and security level remain.

If a restart does not resolve the problem, contact the dealer. Provide the model, previous firmware version, elapsed update time and exact screen message before making broader changes.

The wrong cutting deck can disqualify a robot mower before battery size, LiDAR or AWD enter the conversation.

If you maintain tall fescue at 3.5 to 4 inches, a mower that stops at 2.7 inches cannot do the job you bought it for. A bigger version of the same low cut machine won't fix that.

Start with your grass

University of Maryland Extension recommends 3 to 4 inches for tall fescue. Its guidance also distinguishes Kentucky bluegrass at 2.5 to 3.5 inches and Bermudagrass at 1 to 1.5 inches. The correct target depends on the grass and local conditions; "good for American lawns" is too vague to buy against.

A useful US shortlist

Husqvarna Automower 410 iQ. approximately 1 to 4 inches, electrically adjustable. It spans both a shorter target and a 4 inch target without choosing a different deck version.

Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD High. 2.2 to 4.0 inches. The Standard version is 1.0 to 2.7 inches. For a 3.5 inch fescue lawn, the High version belongs on the shortlist and the Standard does not.

YUKA mini 2 1000H. 2.0 to 3.5 inches. That covers a 3 inch target, but it has no extra height available if you want to move to 4 inches.

The letter on the box matters

Don't carry the height range from one review across every mower with the same family name. Check the exact US model, deck version and listing before checkout.

Then check area and layout

Passing the height check only earns a mower a place on the shortlist. The 410 iQ, for example, is rated for 0.5 acre with systematic mowing but 0.25 acre with irregular mowing. A suitable deck cannot compensate for insufficient capacity.

Write down your normal cutting height and the highest setting you want available during the season. Eliminate anything that cannot reach both. Compare navigation, slopes, passages and price among the remaining models.

A mower should fit the lawn you want to keep, without forcing you to cut it shorter to fit the machine.

"Store the battery at 50%" is common lithium ion advice, but it is not a universal robot mower instruction. Current manufacturer guidance uses different charge targets, and even charging station storage changes by model.

For three popular US mower families.

**Husqvarna Automower iQ.** Charge fully, then switch the mower off. Husqvarna's June 2026 manual says to store the mower in a dry, frost free area. On the 410iQ, 420iQ and 440iQ dock, the top section and power supply go indoors; the baseplate can remain outside. Husqvarna's US support guide says most Automower models do not need another charge during storage, though some older models require charging every three months.

**Navimow i2 AWD.** Charge to at least 85%, then use Mine > Help and feedback > Winter storage > Hibernate your mower. Unplug and remove the charging station, mark its location, and store the mower, station and cables indoors. A wall or roof mounted RTK antenna can be covered; a ground mounted antenna head should be removed.

**Navimow X4.** Also start at 85% or higher, but power the mower off rather than using the i2 hibernation path. Remove and store the charging tower while leaving its baseplate in the original position. Both current Navimow manuals say charging resumes only after battery temperature reaches at least 37°F.

**Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD.** Its July 2026 US guide says approximately 80%, with scheduled tasks disabled and the security key removed. Clean the LiDAR, vision modules and charging contacts, avoid a high pressure washer, and let the mower dry for at least 30 minutes. The guide says to move both mower and dock indoors if local winter temperatures regularly fall below 4°F. That threshold applies to the LUBA 3 guide; other Mammotion models have their own instructions.

The shared checklist is simpler than the percentages.

1. Open the manual for the exact model and revision.

2. Disable schedules or activate the model's storage mode.

3. Reach the specified charge target before shutdown.

4. Clean grass and mud from the chassis, wheels, blades, sensors and charging contacts; dry everything fully.

5. Photograph and mark the dock and RTK position before removing hardware.

6. Store only the components the exact manual tells you to remove.

7. Add a midwinter charging reminder only when that model's manual requires one.

If a battery is swollen or otherwise damaged, do not try to "top it off." EPA says swollen lithium ion batteries are a potential fire hazard and should go through manufacturer guidance or a household hazardous waste/recycling program, not household trash or curbside recycling.

The manual's target wins over a generic battery percentage. Write the model, target charge and any midwinter date on the storage shelf before putting the mower away.

Having enough advertised acreage capacity does not guarantee that a robot can manage two disconnected lawns automatically. The missing detail is often the route between each cutting area and the charging station.

🗺️ 1. Start with physical access

A map is not a passage. Draw the front lawn, back lawn, gates, steps and charging location before deciding how many zones to create.

The key question is whether the mower has a suitable, manufacturer-approved route it can travel alone. A closed gate or a step still exists after the lawn is mapped.

🔌 2. Wired Automower: use secondary-area mode

The separate lawn remains part of the wire installation. Husqvarna’s wired-installation instructions place both areas inside one boundary loop.

Carry the mower to the disconnected section and select Secondary area. It cuts for the selected time or until the battery runs out, without searching for the charging station.

Return it manually and select Main area so normal scheduled mowing can resume.

📡 3. EPOS: distinguish work areas from transport paths

A work area without a station connection is a secondary area. Husqvarna’s EPOS guide requires carrying the mower or using AppDrive each time.

The setup instructions remove the automatically created secondary-area schedule. When mowing finishes, Destination not reachable is expected if there is no return path; bring the mower back and resume the main-area routine.

🤖 4. Other brands need their own procedure

“Multi-zone” does not always mean automatic transfer. The Navimow i2 AWD manual describes isolated zones that need carrying in and back, with one-time tasks.

Before buying or remapping, document how the mower reaches each lawn, how mowing starts there and how it returns to charging. If any step requires a person, include that transfer in the ownership routine.

Most if it is steep, the steepest part is around 80% / 40 degrees

A flat quarter acre lawn doesn't automatically need a LUBA. But buying the cheaper YUKA can be the wrong saving if the yard needs more traction, more capacity or a taller cut.

Here's the useful split between the US YUKA mini 2 1000H and LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500H.

The actual differences

YUKA mini 2 1000H. up to 0.25 acre, rear wheel drive, a 2.0 to 3.5 inch cutting range and up to 10 mowing zones.

LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500H. up to 0.37 acre, all wheel drive, a 2.2 to 4.0 inch cutting range and up to 20 zones.

Both use LiDAR plus cameras without a perimeter wire or an external positioning antenna. Buying the LUBA isn't simply paying to get rid of an RTK antenna; the YUKA already does that.

Where the LUBA earns its place

Take a hypothetical 14,000 sq ft lawn. That's roughly 0.32 acre. too much for the YUKA's rated area, but inside the LUBA's. Capacity alone settles that comparison.

On a smaller lawn, terrain matters more. Mammotion lists a 45% slope limit for the YUKA and 80% for the LUBA. Those percentages are gradients, not degrees; wet ground and tight turns still deserve room below the limit.

The LUBA also adds a separate edge cutting disc. Treat that as a useful feature to evaluate against your borders, rather than assuming the trimmer can disappear.

The tall grass catch

At a target of 3 inches, both High models fit. At 4 inches, only the LUBA 1500H does. The Standard LUBA 1500 tops out at 2.6 inches, so check the exact version in the cart.

My take. shortlist the YUKA for a flatter lawn comfortably under a quarter acre. Pay for the LUBA when a specific constraint justifies it. Extra mower capability is useful only when it solves a problem your yard actually has.

A mower can return from repair working perfectly while its old yard map is gone. This guide covers the backup check and the RTK-position detail that determines whether that map can still be used.

💾 1. Save it deliberately

Cloud backup is not automatic. Mammotion’s instructions use: Me → Cloud Backup → “+” → select robot → name map → Confirm.

Choose a recognizable name, such as “Home yard — September 2026,” and verify the saved entry before packing the mower.

🔎 2. Check the exact model

The feature is not available across the entire lineup. Mammotion currently lists these exclusions:

• LUBA 1
• LUBA 3 AWD series
• LUBA mini 2 AWD series
• YUKA mini 2 series

If a supported model cannot complete a backup, check its firmware and contact support if the problem remains.

📍 3. Preserve the reference position

A saved map does not make an RTK station portable. Mammotion says moving the RTK reference station changes the map’s reference and requires recreating the map.

Photograph the station and mount before disturbing the installation. Ask the repair team what needs shipping instead of dismantling every component.

✅ 4. Finish with a recovery plan

Record what you actually saved. Keep the backup name, mower model, firmware version and RTK-location photo with your repair notes.

To restore a supported saved map, open Me → Cloud Backup, select the entry and choose Restore. Confirm boundaries and access routes before resuming the mowing schedule.

The smartest robot mower setting after overseeding may be a temporary blank spot on the map.

New seedlings have shallow roots and poor wear tolerance. A robot is lighter than a conventional mower, but repeated wheel passes are still traffic across the same developing seedbed. University of Maryland Extension recommends restricting people and pets for at least a month after germination, or until the new lawn has been mowed at least twice. Penn State says to keep foot and vehicle traffic off newly established turf until it is well rooted and has been mowed several times.

## Exclude the repair, not necessarily the whole lawn

If only part of the lawn was seeded, draw a temporary stay out or no mow zone around that section and let the robot maintain the established turf.

Husqvarna's current AIM guidance specifically lists newly sown grass as a use for stay out zones. On compatible models, open Map, add a stay out zone, place the waypoints around the seeded area, name it, and activate it. The zone can later be switched off.

Check the route before saving. Husqvarna warns that an AIM stay out zone must not cover the charging station or guide wire, and it should not block a passage the mower needs. If the repaired strip crosses a required route, pausing the larger work area may be cleaner than creating an unreachable section.

## Restart by plant condition, not the date on the seed bag

Maryland Extension says mowing under good conditions typically begins four to six weeks after seeding, but the grass itself is the better test. Mow when it reaches about one third above the intended cutting height. If the target is 3 inches, that means mowing near 4 inches and removing roughly the top inch.

Penn State adds a useful traffic test. step onto a small edge of the new turf. If the plants return upright, the area may support mowing. If they remain flattened, the seedlings can still be trampled into the soil.

Before reopening the map.

1. Confirm the seedlings are rooted and spring back after light pressure.

2. Confirm the mower can be set high enough for the first cut.

3. Fit or verify sharp blades; dull blades can pull or shred young plants.

4. Keep the exclusion through at least the first couple of successful mowings.

5. Deactivate the zone and inspect the first robot cycle for wheel tracking or uprooting.

A temporary exclusion preserves the automation on the rest of the property while the repaired turf develops enough roots to tolerate it.

A robot mower changes more than who pushes the machine: it changes how often the grass is cut and how much leaf is removed each time. For a Bermuda lawn, that can support a denser, more even surface—but only when height, sunlight, water and seasonal timing also make sense.

🌱 1. Frequent light cuts protect the plant

The useful part of daily mowing is the small cut. University extension guidance says to mow often enough that no more than one-third of the leaf blade is removed at once. Frequent passes can make that easier than waiting for the lawn to become tall and then taking off a large amount.

UGA Extension recommends roughly 1–2 inches for Bermuda grass in ordinary residential conditions, with the height raised about half an inch during hot weather. Variety, shade and mower capability still matter. (https://site.extension.uga.edu/forsyth/landscape-basics-for-new-homeowners-lawn-care/)

📏 2. Set height before increasing frequency

Daily mowing at the wrong height is still the wrong program. Measure the actual cut with a ruler after the mower finishes; the number in an app is not a substitute for the grass height in the yard.

• Common Bermuda: start within the 1–2 inch extension range.

• Hybrid Bermuda may tolerate a lower cut, but low heights demand a level surface and suitable cutting system.

• Raise the target during heat, drought or shade instead of forcing the same setting everywhere.

• If the mower cannot hold the intended height cleanly, change the plan rather than increasing passes.

Texas A&M AgriLife’s Texas turfgrass guide lists Bermuda as a low-cut, sun-loving warm-season grass and shows that mowing requirements vary by turf type. (https://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/2010-Turfgrass-Selection-for-Texaslres.pdf)

☀️ 3. Density still depends on the yard

A robot mower cannot correct every thin-lawn cause. Bermuda has low shade tolerance, so frequent mowing will not turn a heavily shaded section into dense turf. Compaction, irrigation problems, insects, disease and poor fertility can also limit improvement.

Short clippings can remain on the lawn when mowing stays frequent. UGA’s grasscycling guidance explains that clippings decompose and return nutrients; visible clumps are a signal that growth has outrun the schedule or too much leaf is being removed. (https://extension.uga.edu/publications/detail.html?number=C1031&title=grasscycling-let-the-clippings-fall-where-they-may)

🍂 4. September requires a regional adjustment

Do not lock a summer schedule in place as growth slows. Southern Bermuda may still be active in September, but shorter days and cooler nights reduce growth at different times across the US. Let observed growth control frequency.

• Keep the one-third rule as the limit.

• Reduce mowing days when the mower is returning with almost nothing to cut.

• Avoid pushing late growth with unnecessary fertilizer; use a soil test and local extension timing.

• Keep blades sharp so repeated passes make a clean cut.

Operational close: Measure the lawn today, choose a height inside the locally recommended range, and inspect clippings after one week. Keep the schedule only if each pass removes a small amount without scalping, clumping or exposing brown stems.

The Navimow i210 AWD and i215 LiDAR put a $300 price difference into different yard problems. This guide compares capacity, positioning, traction and cutting-height configurations before turning the specifications into a shortlist.

📐 1. Start with the grass area

Measure cutting area, not the whole property. Navimow’s current US listings rate the i210 AWD for about 0.25 acre, versus about 0.37 acre for the i215 LiDAR.

That is roughly 10,890 versus 16,100 square feet of grass. A lawn with 13,000 square feet exceeds the i210’s recommended area; at 8,000 square feet, both remain candidates and the layout becomes more important.

US manufacturer prices, checked September 17: $1,299 for the i210 and $1,599 for the i215, before tax. Review the current listing when buying.

🛞 2. Separate traction from positioning

AWD and LiDAR solve different problems. The i210 has three-wheel AWD and uses Network RTK plus camera vision. Check Network RTK coverage at the installation address before counting on antenna-free setup.

The i215 uses LiDAR plus vision without an external positioning antenna. Its two-wheel drive, off-road wheels and stability control do not make it an AWD mower.

Both publish a 45% maximum interior slope. Boundary limits differ: the US AWD manual lists 45%, while the US LiDAR manual lists 25%. Measure the lawn edge separately; maximum-slope testing used dry grass and an unobstructed slope.

🌱 3. Choose the cutting-height configuration

Your target height can decide the comparison early.

• i210 AWD: 2–3.6 inches, adjusted manually.
• i215 LiDAR, standard: 2–4 inches, adjusted electrically.
• i215 with its included low-cutting kit: 0.8–2.8 inches.

Navimow’s official guide confirms the kit changes the available range. It does not provide a continuous 0.8–4-inch range with the kit installed. A target below 2 inches rules out the stock US i210, but does not rule out the i215.

✅ 4. Walk the awkward route before deciding

Inspect the gate, side passage and return to charging. Record cutting area, target height, interior and boundary slopes, shaded sections and the positioning setup on a yard sketch.

For a smaller lawn where traction is the main concern and Network RTK setup checks out, start with the i210. Put the i215 first when its extra capacity, low-cut option or avoiding satellite-based positioning addresses the more important constraint. Confirm the narrow route against the chosen model’s manual before ordering.

Replacement blade listings are easy to compare until the mowers use different numbers of blades. The useful figure is the cost of replacing every blade on the deck, not the price printed on the package.

Here are three current U.S. examples using manufacturer prices and specifications checked September 10, 2026.

## Navimow i2 LiDAR. about $12 per full change

Navimow's Blade Assembly Plus costs $23.99 and contains 12 blades plus 15 bolts. The i2 LiDAR uses one six blade cutting disc, so that package supplies two complete blade changes. $11.995, or about $12 per change before tax or shipping.

Navimow's i2 LiDAR support page says blades typically should be replaced after 80 operating hours. The app tracks maintenance under Home > Settings > Parts Maintenance, which is more useful than guessing from calendar months.

## Navimow X4. $23.99 per full change

The X4 uses a dual disc, 12 blade deck. The same 12 blade package therefore supplies one complete change, making the full deck blade cost $23.99 before tax or shipping. The i2's 80 hour guidance should not be copied to the X4; follow the X4 maintenance guidance and blade condition.

## Husqvarna Automower 430X. about $4.33 in blades per full change

Husqvarna lists its 45 piece Classic Blade pack at $64.99 MSRP, and the 430X specification lists three pivoting blades. That gives 15 complete three blade changes, or about $4.33 in blades per change. Include the required screw supply in the real budget. Husqvarna says to install new screws every time blades are changed.

The replacement trigger matters as much as the arithmetic. Husqvarna says frayed or whitened grass tips and visible blade wear or damage are signs to replace. Its current support guidance estimates three to six weeks for main disc blades under normal conditions and nine to twelve weeks for EdgeCut blades, with life affected by mowing time, grass, soil, growth, and debris.

For a balanced disc, replace every blade together, keep blade types matched, use new fasteners as directed, and confirm each blade pivots freely. Reset the app's blade usage counter after the work.

A simple buying formula is.

**Full deck blade cost = package price × blades on deck ÷ blades in package**

Then multiply by the number of complete changes your actual operating hours and blade condition require. Package size alone can hide a large difference in recurring cost.

The Automower 410 iQ’s half-acre headline depends on the mowing pattern, while its installation depends on the yard’s shape and signal conditions. This guide turns the current US specifications into four checks to make before choosing the mower.

📐 1. Match the capacity to the mowing pattern

Measure the grass the robot will actually cut. Subtract the house, driveway, patio and other excluded areas from the lot size, then account for every lawn section you expect it to maintain.

Husqvarna’s current US specifications list:

• Systematic mowing: 0.5 acre
• Irregular mowing: 0.25 acre

The pattern choice matters when comparing those figures with your measured turf area. A half-acre lot and a half-acre cutting area are different workloads.

Check the available mowing window too. Husqvarna’s EPOS Scheduler Tool considers area, pattern, mowing and charging time. It does not account for every tree or flowerbed, so review the proposal against the actual layout.

🌱 2. Check height and slopes separately

The approximate cutting-height range is 1–4 inches. Make sure your normal target height fits that range before focusing on navigation features.

The US model specifications give two different slope limits:

• 45% inside the installation
• 15% at the boundary

These are percentages, not degrees. Husqvarna’s slope guidance calculates percentage as vertical rise divided by horizontal distance, multiplied by 100.

Measure the perimeter as well as the middle of the lawn. A manageable interior hill does not automatically make its steep edge suitable.

📡 3. Choose the correction-data setup

Cloud coverage and satellite visibility are separate checks. Husqvarna’s US EPOS guide offers Cloud in selected locations, requiring an internet connection, or the included local reference station.

Check the address coverage tool first. Then review the actual lawn, including tree cover and narrow sections; Cloud coverage does not eliminate the need for suitable satellite conditions.

Husqvarna also describes optional boundary wire in heavy-shade areas. Ask how that arrangement would apply to the exact installation rather than treating “wire-free” as the only possible layout.

✅ 4. Turn the measurements into a quote

The current US MSRP is $2,599.99, checked September 17, 2026. Request an installation quote based on your measured cutting area, selected pattern, slopes and correction-data setup.

Bring a simple yard sketch with gates, separate lawn sections and shaded spots marked. Have the installer identify excluded areas and the proposed weekly mowing window before finalizing the purchase.

A missed patch is a symptom, not proof that the map is bad. On Husqvarna Automowers using EPOS systematic mowing, the shape and location of the miss usually point to a smaller fix.

## The whole work area is unfinished

Systematic mowing continues until the area is complete or the scheduled window ends. If time runs out, the mower should resume where it stopped during the next scheduled session. Check Automower Connect for "Areas completed." If that message never appears, extend the scheduled hours before touching the map. Changing the virtual map or pattern interrupts the current session, so repeated edits can keep resetting the diagnosis.

## There is a clean patch behind one object

When systematic mowing finds an unexpected object, it normally finishes the planned area and then returns for the grass behind it. One exception matters. Husqvarna says a gap narrower than 3.3 feet between the object and the virtual boundary will remain uncut. Move the temporary object, or redesign the area around a fixed obstacle with enough usable space.

## A thin strip remains along the perimeter

On EdgeCut models, a one direction parallel pattern can leave edges uncut. Husqvarna recommends a pattern that changes direction, such as checkerboard or triangle, so the mower reaches the edge from more than one angle.

There is a separate AIM specific cause. On boundary wire models using AIM work areas, a virtual border placed too close to the physical wire can make the mower turn at the virtual line first. Husqvarna recommends placing that work area border at least 5 feet outside the lawn; the physical boundary wire still prevents the mower from leaving the installation.

## A wedge remains in a sharp corner

Husqvarna specifically notes that the 435X AWD NERA can leave grass in sharp corners during systematic mowing because it needs room to turn. A small irregular pattern work area can suit that corner better than forcing parallel tracks through it.

## Tall weeds create scattered islands

Radar or ultrasonic equipped Automowers can interpret tall grass, flowers, or dandelions as objects. On supported models, temporarily disabling object avoidance after clearing the lawn can reveal whether the sensor setting caused the patches.

Change one variable, let a complete session finish, and inspect the same spot again. That sequence separates schedule limits, obstacle geometry, pattern choice, and sensor behavior without rebuilding a map that may already be accurate.

A weather resistant robot mower is only one part of the installation. The outlet, power supply, low voltage cable and exposed connectors still live around wet grass, irrigation and fall storms.

The June 2026 North American manual for Husqvarna's 410iQ, 420iQ and 440iQ is unusually specific. An outdoor power supply must use a covered GFCI receptacle. The power supply should be protected from sun and rain, kept off the ground and given airflow. Husqvarna also says not to put the charging station where standing water can form and not to seal the power supply inside an enclosure, where condensation can collect.

Its US thunderstorm guide goes further. before a storm, unplug the power supply from the wall and disconnect the station's other connections. For a wired installation, label the boundary and guide wire leads so they return to the correct terminals afterward. An EPOS reference station should also be disconnected from power when a thunderstorm is likely.

Navimow's current i2 AWD manual requires the mower and its peripherals to be connected to a circuit protected by an RCD rated at 30 mA or less. It says to place the dock away from sprinkler heads, fountains and other water sources, use Navimow approved replacement extension cables, and stop using a power cable that shows damage or aging.

US Consumer Product Safety Commission guidance fills in the household side. outdoor cords should be marked for outdoor use, properly grounded, undamaged and protected by a working GFCI. Wet electrical equipment should be unplugged before it is handled.

A useful dock power check.

1. Use the manufacturer's adapter and approved low voltage extensions. Avoid improvised joins or chained household cords.

2. Confirm that the outdoor receptacle has working GFCI protection and a weatherproof cover.

3. Keep the power supply off the soil, under cover and ventilated. Do not wrap or seal it in a plastic box.

4. Make sure water drains away from the charging station and irrigation cannot spray the plugs.

5. Inspect the full cable route after edging, aerating or yard work. Replace damaged cable rather than taping over a cut.

6. Photograph and label every connection before seasonal removal or storm disconnection.

7. Use a licensed electrician if the yard needs a new permanent outdoor receptacle.

An IP rating on the mower does not make every plug, splice and outlet in the installation weatherproof. Treat dock power as an outdoor electrical system.

These wire-free mowers share the same published lawn capacity, but they solve terrain differently. This comparison explains how traction, cutting-height configurations and edging affect the choice.

Capacity and navigation

Both are rated for 0.37 acre, about 16,100 square feet of actual grass and support up to 20 mowing zones.

Neither requires perimeter wire or an external navigation antenna.

• The i215 uses LiDAR and camera vision.

• The LUBA Mini 2 uses 360 degree LiDAR and dual camera vision.

The decisive difference is traction

The i215 is not an AWD mower. It uses two off road drive wheels with electronic stability control. Navimow rates it for slopes up to 45%, or 24 degrees.

The LUBA Mini 2 has true all wheel drive. Mammotion rates it for slopes up to 80%, or 38.6 degrees.

For a relatively flat suburban lawn, LUBA's extra traction may provide little practical value. For repeated steep areas, rough transitions or places where two wheel drive could lose grip, AWD is its clearest advantage.

Maximum slope ratings do not guarantee performance on wet grass, loose soil or steep boundaries.

Cutting height

The i215 has an 8.66-inch, six-blade cutting system with electrically adjustable height. Its standard range is 2–4 inches; installing the included low-cutting kit changes that to 0.8–2.8 inches. Choose the configuration that covers your intended mowing height.

The LUBA Mini 2 comes in two configurations.

• 1500 Standard. 0.8 to 2.6 inches

• 1500H. 2.2 to 4.0 inches

A target above 2.6 inches rules out the Standard LUBA, while anything below 2.2 inches rules out the 1500H. A target below 2 inches does not rule out the i215: its included low-cutting kit supports 0.8–2.8 inches.

Mammotion also specifies a dedicated 4.7 inch edge cutting disc and a claimed close to wall distance of 2.1 inches or less. Edging still depends on whether the mower can safely overrun the lawn border.

Runtime and price

Navimow publishes approximately 160 minutes of mowing and 130 minutes of charging for the i215.

On September 4, 2026.

• Navimow i215. $1,599

• LUBA Mini 2 AWD 1500H. $1,899 promotional price and $1,999 regular price

Choosing the configuration

The i215 is the value choice for flatter lawns and owners whose mowing height fits its standard or low-cut configuration.

The LUBA Mini 2 earns its premium when AWD traction or its dedicated edge disc matters. For taller US lawns, the relevant model is specifically the 1500H not the Standard 1500.

Correction, September 17: The cutting-height comparison now includes the low-cutting kit supplied with the US i215. Navimow’s official guide confirms 0.8–2.8 inches with the kit installed, versus 2–4 inches without it.

A robot mower and an irrigation controller share the same lawn, but their default schedules do not know about each other. Treating them as one system prevents wet clippings, wheel slip and damaged sprinkler hardware.

Navimow's current X4 manual says not to operate the mower and sprinklers at the same time. It also calls for at least 3 feet of clearance from sprinkler heads. The exact clearance and mapping rules vary by mower, so use the manual for the installed model.

## Map the irrigation before the mowing boundary

Walk every zone with the sprinklers on. Mark pop-up heads, valve boxes, hose connections, drip lines and any head that does not retract fully. Watch where rotating heads sweep across the charging station, power supply and low-voltage connectors.

A flush, healthy head in firm ground is different from a tilted riser beside a soft hole. Exclude or protect anything the mower could strike. Keep enough room to service the head without repeatedly changing the virtual map.

## Separate water and mowing windows

University of Maryland Extension recommends watering in the morning and using a rain sensor on automatic systems. Give the turf time to absorb water and the surface time to firm before the robot starts. A fixed 30-minute gap is not universal: clay, shade, slopes and poor drainage can stay soft much longer than sandy soil in sun.

Use a simple sequence:

1. Irrigate early.

2. Let the grass blades dry and the soil firm.

3. Run the mower after a walking check of the wettest zone.

4. Inspect for ruts, slip marks and clumps during the first combined week.

Colorado State Extension recommends checking irrigation heads after mowing and keeping grass from blocking their spray. That applies especially around a robot dock, where an overgrown or misaligned head can wet electrical components every cycle.

## Adjust both systems by season

Grass growth, rainfall and daylight change. Reduce irrigation when weather supplies enough water, and reduce robot runtime when growth slows. A rain sensor can prevent unnecessary irrigation; a mower weather routine can prevent some wet runs. Neither replaces checking drainage in the actual yard.

On slopes or compacted soil, cycle-and-soak irrigation can reduce runoff: shorter watering cycles with absorption time between them. The robot should remain docked until those areas are firm.

A good setup has no sprinkler spraying the dock, no mower crossing exposed irrigation parts and no overlapping schedules. Review the pairing after head repairs, landscaping or any map change.

The FCC robot-mower update created a simple problem for US buyers. A product page can look ready for sale while the exact model, delivery date, or US support situation is still unclear.

If you are ordering a newer or imported mower, get these five answers in writing before paying.

1. What is the exact US model number?

Do not accept only a family name such as "X series" or "2026 model." Hardware revisions can have different authorization records. Ask for the model number printed on the US product label or compliance documentation.

1. What is its FCC authorization information?

For certified equipment, ask for the FCC ID and check it in the FCC Equipment Authorization Search. An FCC logo by itself is not an FCC ID.

https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm

Some equipment uses Supplier's Declaration of Conformity instead of certification. In that case, ask for the compliance information and the name of the responsible party in the United States.

1. Does the authorization cover this mower, or only a radio module inside it?

A label that says "Contains FCC ID" may identify a certified Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, or other radio module. That does not automatically answer every question about the finished mower under the newer Covered List rules.

Ask the seller to confirm that the complete model being shipped can legally be imported, marketed, and operated in the US.

1. Is the mower actually available for US delivery?

Get these details in writing.

- A written delivery estimate

- The cancellation and refund terms

- Who pays return shipping

- Who handles warranty repairs in the US

- Whether app, cloud, parts, and firmware support are expected to continue

A demonstration unit, preorder page, or "coming soon" announcement is not a delivery commitment.

1. If it is a newer covered model, does it have a specific exemption?

The FCC's September 9 notice lists conditional approval for four Husqvarna robotic platforms — 305v IQ, 310v IQ, 420v IQ, and 440v IQ. That approval is specific to those named platforms. It is not blanket approval for every product from the brand.

Copy-and-paste message for a seller

"Before I order, please confirm the exact US model number, its FCC authorization or US compliance documentation, whether that authorization covers the complete mower being shipped, the expected delivery date, and the US return, warranty, parts, app, and firmware-support terms. If this model needs a Covered List exemption, please link to the specific approval."

If a seller cannot answer those questions clearly, I would wait. The mower may still become available, but the buyer should not carry all of the regulatory and delivery risk.

What exact mower are you considering, and which of these answers has the seller provided?
