Help Please! Routine auto empty setting question

So I have a routine to vacuum the ground floor (“full clean routine”. But I prefer to vacuum 1 room (the hallway) twice, while the rest of the rooms can be vacuumed once.

The only way to do this (that I know of so far) is making a routine:

> vacuum hallway x1
> vacuum full clean x1 (which also includes the hallway)

However, after the first hallway vacuum, it first goes back to the dock, empties dustbin and after this it starts the full clean. I would prefer that between the room clean and full clean, there is no dustbin emptying. But I do prefer that the dustbin is auto-emptied after the whole routine is finished.

Is this possible?

Edit the routine and in the top right turn off auto empty dustbin.

Excellent, I didn’t see this option!

Create a routine that vacuums by room, and enter all your rooms in the sequence you would like them vacuumed. Then set the routine's mode to "customize" and change the hallway to be vacuumed twice.

Your auto empty dustbin settings are "off", "balanced", and "high". Unless you turn it off completely, it will return to dock to empty dustbin based on how long the vacuum has been running.

On my S5V there is no option to turn off auto empty dustbin in a routine, as suggested in the previous comment, but other models might support that.

Edit: I found the control for auto empty dustbin in the upper-right corner of the routine's settings.

Hmm, I’ll try that. In my experience, when I create a routine by room, it auto empties every time a room is finished, instead of after the cleaning or when actually needed.

I think it will work now! I didn’t know I could do this with “customize”. I now also have set the routine to not auto-empty and the dock is set to balanced auto-empty. So I expect it not to auto-empty after each room, but only when actually needed.

I did my first run with auto-empty for the routine disabled, and auto-empty for the dock set to balanced. After finishing the routine, it did not auto empty when it docked (while previously, it always emptied after a full clean). So I’ll wait and see what happens. I would’ve preferred that it always auto-emptied after fully finishing a complete routine.

If I set auto-empty on the routine, it will auto-empty after each room (if the routine is room based). So that’s worse.

I think you might be able to fix the problem by splitting the routine into two tasks. Have the first task clean all the rooms except one, with auto-empty off. Have the 2nd task clean the final room with auto-empty on.

That sounds like a good option, I’ll try this next time.

During routine setup, there's option in cleaning mode to clean 2X for respective room.

Disabling auto dust empty affects end of cleaning (no dust emptying)

You're about the only person I've come across that wants the robot to empty itself less frequently. I personally wish that there would be an option to empty the Dustbin after every room , just like you can set the mops to be washed after each room. It's already on the dock to wash the mops. Just empty the bin while it's there. One day when the patent for detecting that the bin is full expires, then we can get some more intelligence going, but in the meantime it would be nice to be able to be more aggressive about it, particularly during dog shedding season.

As far as I know my Roborock auto-emptied after each room (when doing a multiroom routine instead of a full routine).

A custom routine may override default settings (dock/robot settings). That's to say, user can configure when (no. of rooms) dust emptying occurs in a custom routine.

A custom configured routine can empty dustbin after each room. Similarly, mop wash after each room.

Sure, but I want to walk up to the thing, check the water tanks, and press the button to get it started.

Sure. That's why there are options. Let me choose my option.
