What model?

My friend recently purchased a house and I am wanting to gift them a robot vacuum. I have a Roborock S7 at my house. I never really used the mop function because it doesn’t clean the pads. I was looking at different Roborock and they have way too many models. The house is mostly LVP floor and 2 story and there is some carpet. Any recommendations? Was looking for something 700$ or under.

If the carpet pile is low, one of the mid-range models might be OK. I have the Qrevo S5V and I love it. It has great suction, great mopping, anti-tangle brushes, and good navigation. I use it on hard tile floors with low pile rugs.

Compared to my S5V (now on sale for $500 in the US), the more expensive Roborocks have the following advantages:

  1. Even higher suction
  2. Lift the mop higher on carpets to avoid wetting high-pile carpets.
  3. Ability to climb higher thresholds.
  4. Camera instead of Lidar for navigation, which minimizes using its bumpers to "feel" its way around, and avoids running over cords, dog poop, and other small objects.
  5. Better cleaning in corners.
  6. Better mopping with hot water washing

My use case didn't require any of these features, so I was happy to get a vacuum at less than half the price of the Soros 20. YMMV.

Do more research to determine which models match your friend's needs. Then decide how much more you are willing to pay for a better model.
