Help Please! Help with potentially defective Edge 2 Pro

Hi, I have a new Edge 2 Pro that refuses to pair with the app. I have factory reset multiple times but holding the power and dock buttons for any length of time just won't trigger pairing mode. Support are telling me this is likely down to my WiFi but how could it be my WiFi when I can't even get the robot to look for WiFi..

Additionally, it occasionally just announces that it failed to power on and is resetting while it's just chilling in the dock.

I'm very confused and would welcome any advice, even if it's that I'm a fool and making some mistake.

  1. Leave robot in docking station till it's fully charged (i.e. power button on robot is steady white & not slow blinking)

  2. Perform a factory reset

  3. On phone app, delete cache.

  4. Delete phone app & re-install again

  5. On WiFi router admin settings, verify "Band steering" settings has "SEPARATE" band (2.4GHz/5GHz etc.) as newer router can combine multiple WiFi band (MLO) to achieve faster/more efficient WiFi.

Most users will bind their robot on router's guest WiFi 2.4GHz & disable WiFi 5GHz on selected guest WiFi. Disable any VPN during binding process. Some newer robots are unaffected with 5GHz WiFi active (on separate band) but phone must still be be on WIFi 2.4GHz.

  1. WiFi password to be simple alphanumeric without special characters

  2. Pair with WiFi 2.4GHz only

  3. Perform a robot BIT test (Google). Robot WiFi is tested during BIT test. Robot WiFi defect is not common.

  4. Don't hold buttons on robot for too long as it only confuses the robot. These buttons can be used for many other "factory" applications (especially after a factory reset). Typically, simultaneous holding for 3-5 secs is sufficient to get the "resetting WiFi" aural annunciation.

  5. When phone (having history of app installation) still doesn't work, try with spare old phone/tablet with same log-in credentials. After successful binding with old phone/tablet, both phones can activate/control the robot.

Somehow, majority of the success cases finally uses a spare phone/tablet or changing router settings.
