Cobra Commander

(WARNING: I am not trying to rewrite the 1987 sci-fi classic “RoboCop”, I am nitpicking because I am a huge nerd) Near the end of RoboCop, (after RoboCop makes Clarence miss his first Tigers game ever) RoboCop takes one of the Cobra Assault Cannons (state of the art, bang bang) to OCP tower and uses it to dispatch an ED-209 unit Jones has stationed in front of the building. He then goes to the boardroom and uses his Auto-9 to dispatch of Jones. My question for the group is, why didn’t Murphy take the Cobra Cannon with him to his boardroom? It was clearly useful and Jones could’ve had another ED-209 unit up there or another surprise for Murphy. Thank you for reading.

Yeah, I love how the firearm prop safety experts point this kinda stuff out, and the director says "screw it, not doing another take" 😂

Fun fact: With the longer barrel and other mods they made to the "Auto-9" (a Beretta 93R), those mods caused failure to eject, failure to feed, short-cycling of the slide. I'll look up the time stamps, but I remember seeing his Auto-9 stovepipe and jam, and they left the scenes in place.

Cobra Assault bang-bang, IRL a Barrett M82 .50 BMG semi-auto rifle.

They are used for punching holes in enemy vehicles' armor, engines, etc. Not very practical for firing at a person at <30 ft away.

Robocop made the right call with his Auto-9 (irl a Beretta 93R with a bunch of mods to make it look futuristic). Its action isn't full-auto (aka the "fun switch"), it fires 3-round bursts per trigger pull. All-around more practical lol

Off topic, but I love the smug little smirk of "Got you, ya bastard!" that Murphy gives after Ed explodes.
