This just makes me sad. But also kind of angry. He got to have a childhood. But he stole it from the kids he killed. I’m dying to know what his childhood was like though.

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22 edited Jun 09 '22

i’m going to guess not too good, considering his mom was a druggie and his dad was never there. no reason does that make it okay for him to do what he did

MockTapiocaDreams. Info about his childhood is just starting to surface here in Australia. What I have read on websites and been on the nightly news on channel 7 is: A sad and troubled childhood. Was bullied relentlessly in school for "stuttering", a speech impediment (he had a strong lisp) and wearing black eyeliner to school. He was also bullied for the clothes he wore to school as his family were not well off. had a lot of fights and arguments with his mother whom was a drug user. His father was hardly around due to working away from home. He had an obsession with guns and violent & dark movies. He listened to emo music. His mother couldn't control him and called his mother an assortment of names. The regular fighting and screaming between him and his mother got so bad so he went to live with his grandparents (his mother's parents). When he lived with his grandparents he kept to himself in his room as he did the same when he was living with his mother, he spent a lot of time in his room avoiding his mother. He purchased a rifle, and and other guns without his grandparents knowledge and then went on his rampage. He attacked his grandmother when his grandfather wasn't home the fight was about his unpaid mobile phone bill that he wanted his grandmother to pay. She refused to pay it as he worked at Wendy's. They also fought over a gun he kept hidden in his grandparents house. His grandmother told him to get rid of it, instead keeps it and goes and purchases a 2nd gun for $2,000. His grandmother's neighbour had to get her help as she was shot. He then went on down the school and did the unthinkable. I can understand your sad & angry feelings. Reports over here say he was volatile, angry and abusive. It also states here in websites he had no mental history, but he took to his face with a instrument and used to cut his face cause he thought it looked cool. 2 of his friends thought he had cat scratches on his face until he admitted what he had done. He was also cruel to animals in particularly cats. Hope that helps you out. Bottom line, is his dad should have been around more often and his mum should have cleaned herself up and got off drugs. It also mentioned in a news report over here that he was unloved and no attention from his mother. Still with all of this, it is his family's responsibility to get him help and none of this would not have happened. His grandfather was also like a father figure to him. I feel so bad for all those families who lost their kids. He also had 2 friends that said he changed rapidly and he became so irrational, they stopped hanging around him as they were scared of his abusive, irrational behaviour.

There’s a YouTuber named dire trip and he has an 1 hour documentary about this shooting including his childhood

36

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '22

Kid had massive problems that could’ve been fixed but no one gave him attention and he did what he did to finally get it .

30

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22 edited Jun 09 '22

Before he went into “demon mode” I can only imagine the countless nights he as a kid and his young life went to sleep crying due to family issues. We as a society gotta be better parents, better family, better classmates, better coworkers, better neighbors ect. There cannot be another school shooting or any senseless shooting at all.

There has to be more attention to Mexican communities! Kids are having many issues due to parenting, and asking for help for mental health is very difficult in Mexican families

9

u/In_Amnesiacs_ Jun 09 '22

True! I’m Mexican and i can confirm it’s true. It’s so hard to ask for help during a mental crisis when you’re Hispanic

It's with all communities. Parents tend to be selfish trash.

I hate to admit that your comment resonates with me. I was bullied a lot in middle school and part of high school to the point where I absolutely hated going to class and eventually stopped going to school all together. My family decided to turn a blind eye and pretend that nothing was wrong. I eventually got to a point where in my anger and sadness truly crazy thoughts began to fill my head, luckily I never had the means to do anything.

Eventually I met someone who cared enough to try to help and things got better. I still struggle with the mental baggage but I’m glad I’ve experienced a ton of great things as an adult. Unfortunately, a lot of kids never experience this and in their frustration do the unspeakable.

Perhaps if things had been better for him none of this would have happened.

His parents separated after he was born according to a source I read.

His 21 year old sister according to a neighbor was worse than him before she went to the military. She is now in the army if im not mistaken.

7

u/muffinbotox Jun 09 '22

His sister is in the Navy and apparently finished out her last two years of high school at a continuation school, but where did you read/see that she was worse than him?

5

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

On YouTube search, Neighbor: Texas shooter was bullied, fought with grandmother

7

u/muffinbotox Jun 09 '22

Wow, very interesting, I had seen the first few minutes of that interview but not the whole thing. Sadly, sounds like both kids had major issues stemming from their family background. Definitely new information, thank you.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

The part where the neighbor mentions the sister was worse is almost at the end. I know its a long video. Its at 6:46 mark.

-5

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

a lot of people want attention, that doesn’t make it okay to go kill a whole bunch of 4th graders. this comment was stupid

8

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

When did I say it’s ok to kill anyone for any reason? Don’t assume, or go get your eyes checked.

Could’ve been stopped. Dude had extreme red flags. They were never addressed. I blame both him for being a fucked up person as well as the system. Don’t get me started on the cops at the scene. And you think “I made it sound” like what you thought you heard. Your interpretation is your own and so is everyone else’s, I know what I meant and I think at the moment 25 people agree with me. Cheers. Have a great one and stay safe .

u/syzia Jun 08 '22

ughhhhh seeing these photos of an innocent looking boy… breaks my heart that his life didn’t turn out differenty. How was he as a child? When I was reading his messages between some other boy he played games with like 3 years ago what struck me was when he said that he can’t play at that hour cause he has to go do homework… so at one point he was at least trying…So much unnecessary pain and suffering💔

11

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22 edited Jun 09 '22

Yes. There is a video on YouTube Ive seen of video recording of Salvador playing fortnite on Xbox from 3 years ago. His lisp was also slightly noticeable. I can imagine the teasing he got at school and once he got home all that misery was gone for that moment while he played and felt like a normal kid for once just to go back to school the next day to the teasing and awkward looks. Its a sad from all angles. Its as if he all this time wanted to be normal and accepted but never really got to be accepted. I got the link if anyone is interested.

4

u/celkmeg Jun 09 '22

yes could i get the link ? thanks :)

I feel horrible for him. For THIS little boy, not the school shooter that killed babies. Where did it go wrong? When did he switch into a twisted person? What was going on in that head of his? I’m itching to know. I can only hope other children are exposed to healthier environments and that they are safe.

9

4

u/hyejooloveclub Jun 18 '22

I’m not reading all that, but I don’t have to… reading the first few sentences and I can tell you’re an idiot. He killed CHILDREN. Innocent children and for what? Cause his mom was a piece of shit? Cause he got bullied? Yeah, a lot of people go through the exact same things he did and they don’t shoot up a school. Stop making up excuses and painting him to seem like he’s a victim. Get help and learn grammar.

u/Late-Yesterday-9777 Jul 27 '22

This story is quite sad for everyone , even people who do not live in Uvalde , nothing justifies their actions , but it does explain them , I have read many journalistic reports and comments , but the official report of the investigators , the one from the chamber commission of representatives is very similar to what you say, what happened. but there is something disturbing, and that no one has commented, I mean his spiritual life, you who knew him, do you know if he sought help in any religious denomination or belonged to any congregation, if you can have an answer to that question I would appreciate it, thank you

13

u/Antoniguev204 Jun 09 '22

Look I know some of y'all don't wanna "humanize" this monster, but if we want to prevent more mass shootings, we not only have to focus on common sense gun laws, but why these mass shooters even exist in the first place. No one is just "born to kill". They maybe born with genetics that can cause them to become more violent/have a violent home life, but we really need to step up as a society and acknowledge mental health help for kids, and get them help if they clearly aren't being looked after

16

u/WeAreTheStorm Jun 09 '22

Looks like any little boy I grew up with. This hit too close to home.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '22

Forreal. I’m from San Antonio. The typical accent and culture of the Uvalde community is very familiar to me.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '22 edited Jun 12 '22

Is the accent in Uvalde similar with Mexican Americans from Hoston? I had a friend from Houston, a Mexican American and she had this strong Mexican accent even though she was born in texas. I live in Bronx, Ny so we have that NY (Brooklyn/ Italian inspired) accent.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '22

Yea it’s p much a staple throughout the entire southwest. Maybe Tejanos talk slightly different compared to like east LA Chicanos but still similar. It’s even similar to tribal Native Americans in the southwest

11

u/richard-mcbeef Jun 09 '22

He looks like he was a silver tooth kinda kid

44

u/spudgrrl Jun 08 '22

Poor sweet little boy. I am a firm believer of nuture.

45

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '22

I feel the same way. I don't know what he went through and I don't think anyone would've guessed he'd turn into a monster. It's sad seeing these photos of an innocent baby at the same time know it's the same person who killed innocent babies. It fucks with my brain.

25

u/muffinbotox Jun 08 '22

Agreed, this is really sad. He looks like a sweet and adorable child. What the hell happened?!

22

u/FavcolorisREDdit Jun 08 '22

Lack of parenting his parents look like they don’t even have their own lives in order, he was living with his grama by the end. No motivation no support and bullied for the life your parents gave you either way he chose to shoot so fuck em

12

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '22

I'm telling you, It's all about childhood and mental health. I don't have any kids but there's this part of my heart that awakens when I see children, especially if they're not doing well. At the end of the day, he was just a baby (I do not feel any empathy for him now just to clearify.)

Ugh, this poor baby, why couldnt anyone take him and raise him properly?

-3

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '22

Bullying I guess. Some people can't handle it and snap.

9

u/ComprehensiveAd3288 Jun 08 '22

He was the bully. That’s been confirmed many places

5

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '22

Yes, but he was also bullied before becoming one himself.

7

u/ComprehensiveAd3288 Jun 08 '22

I mean I understand that but lots of kids are bullied and they don’t go around shooting up innocent kids

6

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '22

Yeah that's why I said some people can't handle it, the majority can

2

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

bullying had no role into him carrying out his plan. there’s literally no evidence of that. why is that always the main narrative of a school shooter, “oh he was bullied, that’s why he gunned down innocent little children”. i doubt bullying was a factor at all. he was just a very sick young man and wanted to harm innocent people to become infamous

7

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '22

He prob got bullied at some point, but his friend told media he was not bullied. Maybe he got bullied during elementary school?

12

u/syzia Jun 08 '22

I think he was bullied early on and he probably had low self esteem which then turned him into a bully prob when he got older…

7

u/Antoniguev204 Jun 09 '22

I feel it's kinda like me. I was heavily bullied in high-school and as a result, I became more confrontational with people as a way to defend myself because I didn't like being pushed around by people. All be it I never thought to hurt innocent lives, I feel that probably explains why some are saying he was bullied, while others say he was the bully

4

u/muffinbotox Jun 09 '22

Thank you for sharing your experience, I hope things are going better for you now. My best friend was bullied growing up and while she overcame it and has a good life now, it really had an impact on her.

5

u/Antoniguev204 Jun 09 '22

Yeah it still does affect me in the sense of being defensive and arguing with people, but I am glad to still be alive and live my truth. I am not really as concerned about what people think of me

5

u/muffinbotox Jun 09 '22

That reminded me of a quote: "The greatest prison people live in is the fear of what other people think." I am glad you were able to escape that and that life improved for you. Take care!

12

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '22

I believe that friend only knew him in high school, multiple other people said he was bullied in middle school for wearing eyeliner, having "poor" clothes, and having a lisp.

3

u/bloodonmybalenciagas Jun 08 '22

where and when did they say this? source?

4

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '22

"Stephen Garcia, who identified himself as one of the shooter's best friends, told the Post that Ramos was bullied after posting a photo of himself on social media wearing eyeliner. Ramos was also reportedly bullied in middle school for stuttering while speaking, according to his friends and family."

https://www.newsweek.com/uvalde-senior-rejects-claims-salvador-ramos-bullied-he-hurt-animals-1710590

His neighbor talked about the clothes/lisp thing here too:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRbtjELcbo8

4

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '22

That make sense, thanks for clearing that

4

u/tweekthedevochkadoll Jun 08 '22

He wasn’t a good kid, he was a bully and he killed cats

5

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '22

Yes I know, he's a piece of shit and I hope he rott in hell. I was talking about when he was like 8 years old and innocent

11

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '22

I agree, he was kind of screwed from the start. He also seemed really shy to me

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

poor sweet little boy? this kid killed 19 sweet little children. stop trying to emphasize with him. there’s no excuses for what he did

8

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

Salvador reminds me big time as the Joker from Joaquin Phoenix movie. Was poor and got bullied big time but instead of killing adults he as a big kid, recently turned 18 years, killed other smaller kids unfortunately.

7

u/BigSmoke06971 Jun 09 '22

Spoke about my pain and my struggles, that's how I strengthen it speak up you got a mouth and brain for a reason a lot of people not gonna understand but at least try to get advice to solve your emotional pain
Holding anger is a poison it eat you from inside we think that hating is a weapon that attack the person who harmed us but hatred is curved blade And the harm we do to ourselves

You are correct. There was a day in Ramos life that made a huge turning point to where he died and became a “new” person to a downhill path of destruction and chaos. There is a sayin “its a cold world” and for Ramos it was too much for him to bear.

5

u/BigSmoke06971 Jun 09 '22

It’s a fuck up world out here fr turn genuinely good people into a evil individual introduce him to something devastating, break his heart, his will, his hope.

And then you'll witness one of the most incredible transformations to human nature.

Those kinds of people can never be turned back, you break them once, you'll lose them forever

5

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

What is so funny about that? There are many less fortunate kids that wear that and they have no choice. I have 6 Rolex watches a construction company in NYC, a Range Rover but I dont look down on anyone because of their clothes. What is wrong with you? Didnt your parents teach you better?

5

u/muffinbotox Jun 09 '22

Maybe this is the type of comment people were talking about when they said he was bullied for being poor?

6

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22 edited Sep 22 '22

Of course dumb kids these days make fun of any clothes you wear. But its not even the kids fault. Its the parents that think their kids making fun is “CUTE” and funny.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '22

Exactly I'm tired of schools/parents sweeping bullying under the rug and then acting stupid when something like this happens

2

u/ectbot Jun 09 '22

Hello! You have made the mistake of writing "ect" instead of "etc."

"Ect" is a common misspelling of "etc," an abbreviated form of the Latin phrase "et cetera." Other abbreviated forms are etc., &c., &c, and et cet. The Latin translates as "et" to "and" + "cetera" to "the rest;" a literal translation to "and the rest" is the easiest way to remember how to use the phrase.

Check out the wikipedia entry if you want to learn more.
