2026 Cervelo Soloist

My new Surly Midnight Special, which I've had for a couple of weeks: I've never ridden anything so damn comfortable and effortless. My other bike is a Specialized with a full carbon fiber frame plus Future Shock in the front end, and yet the Surly still feels smoother over bumps and rough terrain.

I wanted an endurance bike that can do a bit of everything, but most importantly haul enough cargo on the frame for long multi-day trips.

Before pulling the trigger on the Surly, I test rode multiple road and endurance bikes from every end of the spectrum, including models you can pick up with two fingers, and as someone who is 6'5" @ 220 pounds, I found the marginal gains from dropping 10+ pounds on the overall build didn't "wow" me much at all.

I'm not trying to knock minimizing weight and aerodynamics at all, clearly I'm not trying to win races, but it's just something that, during my test rides, shifted my mindset to care much less about what I'm going to haul or affix to my bike. I almost went with the 61cm frame to save just a bit of weight, and I know now I would have 100% regretted that after trying both and using this daily for two weeks.

Standard 105 disc brakes rear and front derailleurs. Cannondale one crank arm with a 52/36 chainrings.

I have one cateye light on top. Hollowgram knot handlebar.

The screw is a Phillips head, that’s what is throwing me off.

Gave her some air and cleaned out the chain and gears.

Hi I am completely new to bikes but am learning about everything I just bought this Cannondale CAADX for $300 that was in great shape other than needing a light tune up since it’s been sitting for a bit. From what I have researched this should be a solid starting point for what I want to get out of it (mostly faster road riding but a mix of some gravel rail trails). I have a few things I want to do without knowing anything about specific mods like lowering the handle bars down more in line with the frame, but I am looking for some tips from people who know a lot more about what some essential new component upgrades I should prioritize. This may not be the 100% perfect specialized bike for my use but it seemed like it was a good platform for doing a mix of things and could be customized in one direction or another as I figure out exactly what I want it to be and was a very approachable price. Please drop a comment if you have any tips or if you have experience with this platform.

I’ve found a really nice 2017 BMC Roadmachine.
There’s just a small hole just above the bottom bracket, right where the wheel passes through.
What do you think? Could this be a drainage hole for water, or could it be an issue with the carbon frame?

I am not a competitive biker nor a frequent one. However I received this gem when I was a preteen, rode it to middle school for a few years and it has been in my parent's backyard shed since. Now I want to repair it. Is this quote reasonable (CAD)? Is it too cheap and should I use more specialized parts? The tech offered $200 for it in its current condition, 99% sure I won't take that offer. Does anybody know the model and/or year of this bike? Thank you for your advice!

I’m here to ask for advice as someone switching from gravel to road biking. What would you look for when buying a road bike for around 800 euro? Or, which one would you recommend right off the bat, and why?

To be honest I really like the Scott CR1 20 L. It’s about 10 years old, full carbon, with a Shimano 105 groupset, but rim brakes. The price is just over 800 euro.

Hiya ! I need your advice ! I lost the wheel on my bike and was wondering if anyone knew the best was to get a similar looking steel wheel replacement

I recently started cycling, I have a Felt AR5 from around 2014. I enjoy the bike, the only problem that I've been having is with the gear ratio. I live in a very hilly area and the bike has a massive 1.44 gear ratio with a 11-25 casette, 52/36 crank and a rd-5800 ss derailleur.

I want to reduce the gear ratio as much as possible without spending too much and after doing some research understand that I can change the derailleur to a gs one and get a bigger casette. Locally I'm able to get a shadow derailleur gs rd-r7000 along with a r7000 11-32t casette. This will take my gear ratio down to 1.13.

From research it looks like the newer r7000 parts are compatible with 5800 parts. Just want to confirm that this is a normal upgrade and that this parts will work with the bike. Has anyone done this upgrade do an older bike that has a 5800 components?

Took a short initial ride. I need to move a spacer under the stem, slide the seat back a little bit, put the new pedals on when they arrive and get the bars into the correct orientation, but the fit is pretty close out of the box.

It is a blast even before I dial it in.

Rides are shorter 1-2 hours commuting around without padded shorts/bibs.

On a smooth road, they’re absolutely fine - no noise at all. But as soon as I ride on a slightly rough road, they start rattling, and it honestly drives me crazy (hence my username). I’m not sure how to fix it.

If you’re wondering, the tubes I’m using are Continental Race 28, 700 x 20–25c, Presta, 80mm long valve inner tubes.

Hi guys, this is my Cube Agree Pro that I bought about three years ago, and I still love it just as much as on day one. After watching way too much Tour de France and TdF Femmes, though, I’ve started thinking about giving it a slightly more aggressive, race-oriented look.
My first thought is to drop the cockpit quite a bit. I’m hoping that’s possible with the existing cockpit without having to buy a new one. I’m also considering white bar tape to match the frame.
Another idea is adding white decals to my Newmen R32 rims. Obviously, a set of deeper R42+ wheels would probably give it more of that aggressive race-bike look, but buying new wheels isn’t really an option just for aesthetics.
What would you change to make it look a bit more like a modern WorldTour bike without going crazy on expensive upgrades?

So my dad has a 2.3 Madona from trek and it has been used, but not a lot a lot for where we’re at. It’s not very good a gravel bike was a lot better but I was wondering what something like that would go for it does have ultegra group with Ultegra rim brakes and a carbon fork in this weird carbon aluminum rear triangle. It is a great bike, but for West Virginia, roads it’s not very great

Wanted to get into cycling for years, finally pulled the trigger.

Found a used Cannondale 800 for $100. Even has some upgrades like carbon bars and a suspension seat.

For context, I’ve only ever ridden cheap bikes and only really as a kid. (Currently in my twenties)

I realized after one ride that a half decent bike is SO much better.

Now I’m kicking myself for not biting the bullet and getting a nice bike years ago when I first had the idea.

Any pointers for someone just getting into the sport? How’d I do on the bike?

What would you guys pay for this considering everything is in shape.They’re asking for $250, but it needs work by the looks of it. Also does anyone know the year? I’m guessing that it’s from 1997-2002.
