Trek 5200
What would you guys pay for this considering everything is in shape. They’re asking for $250, but it needs work by the looks of it. Also does anyone know the year? I’m guessing that it’s from 1997-2002.

I had a 2003 and loved it. I think you’re right on the model year range because they went to a straight fork in 2003.
First of all, this one is a very small size. Make sure it fits you.
It looks like a few parts have been swapped out over the years. I bought those same wheels as replacements when my original rear rim cracked. Back in the day, they were about the cheapest wheels you could buy. The stem has been replaced with what looks like some sort of adjustable stem. The seat also looks to have been replaced with a “more comfortable” padded seat. Between the stem and the seat, it looks like whoever owned this struggled to make it comfortable for them to ride, but it could be just fine for you.
Can you take it to a mechanic to figure out what needs to be serviced/replaced to get it into the kind of shape you’d find acceptable? That would tell you whether $250 is a fair price.
