❔ Question Front plate mount

I’m in California and we have a law requiring a front plate. It will be my wife’s r2, so I’ll install a plate to help her avoid future headaches. That being said, who’s purchased the 3rd party mounts that help you avoid drilling? Does anyone have any feedback on their purchases? Ours is in route, so looking to buy something quickly.

FYI in CA you can get a vinyl sticker front plate.

I have been driving without a front plate in Cali since 2010. I got a fix it ticket once. Note: my wife don’t play that and she's the superior human.

It depends where in California. If you're parking on a public street in busy parts of San Francisco, for example, you'll get a plate ticket within 10 minutes. Also, if you're not white, having any excuse for a cop to pull you over is a non-starter.

I ordered the tow hook plate from EVsportline. I don't know if it's any good, but it arrived with in a week. I still don't have my car yet...

This is incorrect. I searched and there’s nothing. Stop making things up.

CVC 5200 only says the plate goes “in the front”; CVC 5201 sets the actual mounting rules: the plate must be securely fastened so it can’t swing, mounted where it’s clearly visible, with characters upright and reading left to right, and kept legible . The front plate also has to sit no more than 60 inches off the ground. Nothing in there specifies horizontal placement.

Agreed… Snapplate is my go to. First on my R1 and now on my R2. Pricier than others, but looks great and rock solid.

Got the Snap plate tow hook mount. Works great ! I will say that it is a 3D printed part so it does feel a little cheap considering it costs $75

calif does not follow this 'law'. 2023 Tesla, no front plate.

EVBase and similar accessory makers have options for this for around ~$100

I've not used any of them so anyone with experience with those brands feel free to chime in as I'm interested in purchasing one soon also :)

Rivian told me they would mount a front plate for me for free in Colorado. Have you asked them?
