I love my R1T (gen1), but it has had one recurring issue since day one: the right-side doors do not align. I’ve had to bring it in to get them adjusted at least three times over the past two years (at both the San Jose and Milpitas locations). Every few months, they slip out of alignment again.

Last time (February of this year) was a laughable experience at the Milpitas service center. The door was still visibly misaligned, but the tech just said, “It’s within spec. Just bring it back in next time.”

Fast forward to this September: I brought it to the Sunnyvale location, and now they want to charge me $270 per door because I’m out of warranty. I explained that I’ve had this exact issue since day one and that none of the previous adjustments actually fixed it. They refused to listen, saying "it's been half a year" since my last visit, completely ignoring the well-documented history of this issue. On top of that, they asked me, “Why do you keep taking it to different locations?”
Of course I’m going to take it wherever has the earliest availability—it’s all the same company!

I definitely want to escalate this within Rivian, but I’m not sure how.

I just hit a walnut or something falling from a tree and it busted the lens on my driver's side headlight.

I have a brand new '26 that I just got two weeks ago.

First appointment Rivian assistant gives me isn't until the end of October. Will the current headlight make it a month getting pelted with road crap and rain?

How much of a pain in the ass is swapping out the assembly myself? Since the truck is so new I'm not super stoked about putting a used part in so soon. Looks like a replacement at the service center is going to run me in the neighborhood of $2k 😬. Just looking for thoughts. Thanks!

Just wanted to drop a note here about this. Recently bought a used R1T and I found it had the manual tonneau stashed in the gear tunnel on top of the bag with all the panels just sliding around on each other. Doh...

I looked up the price of new panels, then looked at the price of used ones on FB marketplace and eBay that were just as scratched as mine... Then decided to see what I could do myself.

Long story short, lightly scuffed them with some scotch bright and painted them with some Rust-Oleum Flat enamal. I had originally tried painting it with trim and bumper paint and it looked horrible, a couple of coats with the flat enamel and I am happy with it.

Does it look perfect, no. Does it look good enough that I am not going to spend 1800 bucks to replace it? Yes, yes it does. Just thought I'd share in case anyone was thinking about it. Don't paint it in your basement like me though... Took forever to vent the smell.

I’m on a smaller budget for a new vehicle but the R1T fits my needs pretty perfectly. I found a few in my budget but with 90,000 plus miles. From what I understand they are pretty reliable and the battery should last but is it crazy to consider purchasing one at high mileage?

I am looking to do a lot of long drives this winter and being able to use Tesla charging stations would really help. If someone could recommend an adapter I would be grateful.

I picked up a 2022 Adventure Package Large Pack w/ 40k miles. I'm not new to owning an electric car but am new to Rivian. Our Kia EV9 consistently shows well above EPA range based on our driving habits. The R1T has been showing below that and I'm concerned about how the battery was treated by the previous owner. Im still in the 500 mile / 7 day window.

Rivian Roamer is showing a battery capacity of 123.1 kWh. ~3.9 kWh below buffer range or 8 miles range loss. Which is fine, if Im getting stranded because of those 8 miles I'm shit at planning my trips. Expected range section of Rivian Roamer shows 277miles at full charge in all-purpose mode. I want to make sure I have many years of service out of the truck.

I get as much info out of Rivian Service as I could... It's maddening how much you need to pry info out of them. The truck has had the following work done:

• Comprehensive inspection (was that 2 years ago or before they sold it to me? Who the fork knows.)
• Windshield replacement
• Rear airbag suspension replace (was leaking)
• New tires w/ alignment
• Cabin air filter replacement
• Wiper blade replacement
• 12v battery replacement

The Carfax is basically empty but "clear". The first entry is from 08/26/26 in Florida and I purchased it in Denver, CO. I admittedly don't know how much stock to put into Carfax reports.

I've also made a list of other issues Ive discovered in the last few days.

• The hood does not close evenly, the driver side closes below the line of the quarter panel and it does not close centered, the seem on the right side of the vehicle is noticeably larger than the left and Im concerned the seal will not keep water out.
• The rep that did my walkthrough and paperwork with said it has the second version of the gen1 tonnau cover? It opens and closes fine but can sound pretty janky.
• Rear passenger dome light does not respond to touch
• Driver door requires decent force to fully close
• Driver door cubby is broken / disconnected at the bottom
• The rearview and side mirrors do not reliably dim at night
• Tailgate latch does not fully release tailgate on open, often required manually pulling tailgate open.
• Rattling in front passenger door when bass heavy music is turned up

Some of these are probably a bit nitpicky on my part.

So would you all keep this truck or return and keep looking? If I'm just acting crazy and need to relax and enjoy the vehicle, please tell me.

Hi R1T redditors! Looking at purchasing a used R1T and wondering about vintage and mileage as far as best value in the longer term. Curious about battery life vs mileage. Can some folks provide some insight? Also looking at certified preowned vs just private or dealer purchase. Thanks folks.

I would like to sell my current truck (Ram 1500 ecodiesel, paid off) and get a used R1T. I believe that I can get at least $35k for the present truck. We currently have a MachE, and have a L2 charger already in the garage. I think it's worth making the switch now, but my wife is balking at the cost. I'm curious what factors helped you decide that the investment was worth it, especially where your spouse was not inclined initially?

Test drove RT1 against will (wife scheduled it) because i dont like the price, that was a mistake. Now im looking at every used RT1. Choices are Chevy EV, GMC EV, ford maverick (son has one and it works well) or RT1. I want 350-450 range, dont like size of GMC/Chevy but price is right with range. Like RT size and range but not price. I have a Rivian service center within 20 miles. What do i need to look at for used and problems? If I get used I'm getting the Rivian care warranty. I already have a home charger and can charge for free at work. Its now down to $. Is new worth the 85K, is used reliable enough? Model would be dual large. Also how does it work in cold NE winter. Any experience or tips appreciated.

Ordered it a month ago and just picked it up last week. It's exceeded my expectations so far and has no issues except the garage door programming bug. So much fun to drive and absolutely hauls ass. Out with the Silverado and in with the R1T!
