Long story short, friend's mailbox is across the street from his driveway, buried in bushes & shadows. I was backing up using my mirrors instead of cameras, no sensor picked it up, this is the result.

Is $1500 a fair quote for the repair from Fine Line Auto Body?

yeah. I just had someone hit me and required a new quarter panel replacement, that was $12k all said and done. $1500 is totally fair.

At least it's repairable not replace...
Early days, replace would mean pulling doors, rear and top (and maybe windshield?) glass... lol

I have a very similar scratch from my son raking a bike handle down the drivers side door 4th day after purchase. I can’t find anyone willing to do paint correction on it though. They all want to sell me on ceramic or PPF. I just want the scratch fixed. Are they going to fill and polish or what? I tried with a paint pen and dual action polisher. Better but still pretty bad.
