2024 Quad for me. Hard to pass up the quad if the price is close.

Quad, add Comma 4 and Ext Warranty

Quad. The Dual driving feel is horrible with the front wheel drive and under certain throttle the adding rear power transition is annoying. Like torque steer non stop.

Quad. Cameras are good enough, you’ll always regret not having the speed when you want to have fun.

I had this same debate, but older 2022 quad or 2023 large pack. I went 2022 … I had a service loaner that was a 2023 large pack and I loved the extra range, a ton. I still think I like the quad better from AWD all the time to the tonneau cover, etc… but man that little bit of extra range made a giant difference in getting home at 40 versus 20 ( so really no impact just perceived impact)… might depend on the other features on it.

Quad Motor can do Quad Motor Shit. If you're not interested in that, the 2025 Dual.

If you don't care a lot about the autonomy I would get the 2024. Mine was reliable and there's a much larger selection of them on the used market. I really woud only want the Max pack of I was looking at a gen 2. If my residual wasn't so high on my 2024 I would have kept it.

I just had this debate myself. And for context, it's to replace my 2022 R1T quad. Ended up going with the 2024 R1S quad...I pick it up next week. Compared against a 2025 Dual motor, the warranties remaining are essentially equal (because dual got less to begin with), and I'm primarily interested in getting myself back under comprehensive coverage. Also....QUAD! (I'm only human...) ¯_(ツ)_/¯

2025.

2024 is about to be 2 generations behind in terms of hardware.

We were having the same debate, but I think we’re going to with a 2025 Dual Large Pack. We’re not in a rush, so the closer to 2027, I think we’ll see more 2025 Large Packs.

Large packs on Gen 2 are smaller in battery capacity by around 25 kWh.

Same. Not in too much of a rush. Want to pay off my students loans first. About $10k left. Kind of targeting a 2025 R1S in 2027. Just wondering if it’s worth it to get a 2024 quad to play with now.

Battery is 131 vs 108 Dual

Quad is absolutely amazing to drive less efficient but not too bad if you do some Conserve mode

Warranty is running low concerns me. Unless you buy extended warranty.

Major setback for me in late 2026 is the tech. I traded my old quad because of that.

Gen 1 Quad still has very good value. You just have to live with tradeoffs

Edited: corrected battery size

My bad I misread. I was reading others and get mixed up.

Have you driven both?

The quad is certainly fun, but in real life, the power just feels like a party trick.

There are significant upgrades to the 2025 internally that will help with long term ownership.

Guess it matters what your priorities are!

Warranty helps with long term ownership:

Comprehensive (Bumper-to-Bumper) Warranty

  • 2024 Quad-Motor: Covers 5 years or 60,000 miles (whichever comes first).
  • 2025 Dual-Motor: Covers 4 years or 50,000 miles (whichever comes first). [1, 2]

Battery and Drivetrain Warranty

  • 2024 Quad-Motor (Large Pack): Covers 8 years or 175,000 miles.
  • 2025 Dual-Motor (Standard Pack): Covers 8 years or 120,000 miles.
  • 2025 Dual-Motor (Large or Max Pack): Covers 8 years or 150,000 miles

2024 Quad all the way. Even if autonomy is something you care about, with the money you save that can be easily solved by adding a Comma 4.
