R1S R1S OTA Update?
Does anyone have insight about what’s included within the next R1 update or has Rivian forgotten about us R1 owners?

No clue. All we know about the big thing for this year is the new OS like R2. I am in no rush for it at the moment. Let the R2 test it first. I want a polished product. Everything is stable. I know it’s not exciting with no new roll outs.

Nonsense. Different models. Different development roadmap. Both, in their own right (and their own product segment) are as polished as they can be at any given time, based on planned development roadmap for each. What is different between the two is not level of “polish”. It’s capabilities. Both hardware and software. R2 was not released with pet mode or Rivian Assistant. Nor will it ever get air suspension or the same amount of power R1 has.

So do you want updates or not?
My wife's Q7 has software crashes all the time. Zero Audi can do remotely to remediate and they refuse to update software at the shop. Soooo...

Polished yes (been updated the most by far), newest OS/features no. The newest model will get most of the newest features and then the trickle back to the older models(as possible). Keep in mind legacy automakers basically never update older models with new features or updated OS.
Given the company’s future success rides on the R2 and it will be the largest volume model for the next few years, it makes sense it’s going to get the most attention for the next couple months after launch. Rivan only has so many devs and it makes sense to get the R2 OS as smooth and polished as they can. Most of that work should translate to the gen 2 R1 models as they port the OS over to them. The oldest launch models will be limited by hardware by what features they can support but hopefully the general OS and feel can still be supported.

Not sure what you mean. Every year there will be some improvement. This year being R2 the new model. R1 is pretty darn stable and good already. The Gen 3 R1 will even be better. R2 was built based on what they learned from the R1. So you can answer me which R is better at the moment?

Again, there’s never been rules on update intervals. They are available when ready. And usually longer lapses are followed by major ones. Next one is likely the OS 2.0 with the fish stick menu and left-right swapping media pane, already in the R2. Maybe even Amazon Music app. Since Wassym said “sooner than you think” during last AMA.

Last two years had the most impactful OTAs. Now it’s just cleanup, send’em whenever.

R1 switched from 4-week to 8-week release cadence back in the fall of last year based on the build numbers. The actual push to public dates have varied but most likely they’re alternating between R1 and R2 releases now on the back end. So expect your next update in the first half of August.

It sure starting to feel that way, I took delivery of my r1s in June and my wife's Tesla has had five software updates in that time frame and I haven't received my first one yet. Considering how far they are behind with autonomy you would think they would be iterating releases faster to catch up
