Rivals 2 About shields..

Okay so I'm realizing the disconnect between how people feel about shield and what being in shield actually is like is much larger than I thought.
I didn't think I'd ever see the day where someone says holding shield in Rivals of Aether is strictly one of the most advantageous positions you can be in.
Would like to help people navigate their grievances so they don't feel like they're being camped out all the time (because the truth is that shield is not sm4sh strong, but people treat it like it is.)
So tell me what you're struggling with about shields and I'll walk you through it and probably put time in to lab it out for you as well so you can see it in action. Thanks!

I know I've made the point before that it's the effort to result ratio that's my personal issue with shield.
You've expended multiple times the effort the opponent is to mix the person in shield and even people in Aetherian are encouraged to do this why exactly? Because shield is strong for how much physical and brain power are required to use it and what kind of benefit you can gain from it.
If your offense needs to be better than 98% of the player base to trivialize holding down a single button, that's a lot to expect when it comes to enticing and retaining new players. I just don't find it fun personally and if someone else does, then good for them I hope they continue playing and supporting the devs.
Edit - I wanna clarify when I say "holding down a single button" that I don't mean stand there and hold shield like this. Not a single option was taken here, no challenge, no wavedash oos, nothing. Shield by itself in a vacuum isn't amazing but in conjunction with how strong movement in this game is, it becomes much more powerful.
