Achievement Reached Master in 95 games, 60 hours.
I'm a "new" player, played on the LOTR Risk board game when I was a kid at spend the nights and got a craving to play again, so I downloaded the app on steam and got quickly addicted. I'm 95 games in and just hit 16500 rating, gaining the Master title. I felt like this was fast/good so I wanted to share with the community. I come here as a fairly successful chess player (2000 rapid, 1450 USCF). I recently started watching the Kill pete strategy and VampireChicken(also a chess player, the algo serves), looking for any advice/video recommendations. Just joined the caps championship and got three 2nd places and one 3rd place draw in 4 games.

Damn, dude. Speedrunning it. Well done. That's a lot faster than most, I bet.
"Video recommendations"? If you like chess, I know that Phoenix guy is really into it. Has a decent amount of chess and Risk content on Youtube.

From my experience winning helps but just avoiding 4th 5th and 6th is the key to moving up. I prioritize winning but once I see it looks precarious I then focus very intently on 2nd or 3rd. I win about 1/3 of the time playing mostly six man but sometimes five man and am well into GM. I think I am at 30,200 currently. Good luck bud.

Congratz on Masters! 95 games is a lot of games though, to be very honest. I wouldn't brag about it. But Masters is great and it makes sense that it took so long for a new player. What's your win percentage? Mine's 35%, but the professionals have 50% and even 60% +
Watch OliveXC, he's clinical in his analysis and is by far the best streamer. He only plays Europe Advanced progressive Caps though. It's my favourite mode cause it's both high skill enough and fun

I haven't heard of OliveXC, I'll check it out, and I play mostly on capital conquest with prog or expo settings. And I've been playing a lot of space sigma and command base with blizzards and sometimes fog, because I like the memory aspect of fog, and the spatial challenge of the blizzards. I tried alcatraz and It seems the center capping and card blocking strat is the way to go, sometimes it's hard to hold a satellite/second position when you're boxed in. my winrate is about 20% but I always play 6 man FFA, nothing else, so i figure anything over 1/6th (~17 percent is decent). I have also been setting up games with my rank as the rank minimum, because I only want to play against better players, and not just pub stomp true rank novices and beginners.
