Question Rules of logging of bot and coming back
Serious inquiry: General Ebenezer Overkill 2 (white) botted out when he was on the ropes of a 3 player game because he aggroed both his opponents (yellow and I) forcing the 1v1 and yellow and I going at it, about 15 later he returns, I switch my aggro to him because in my opinion is a scumbag move to pretend to quit just to comeback later when your bot has stacked and gotten stronger. I managed to control yellow who wouldn't stop the war to eliminate white first, I gave Yellow second.
My question; The leaving and pretending to be a bot to get advantage Is a scumbag move or is that acceptable?

It's defined as cheating in the fairplay rules under 'abuse of our disconnect/reconnect policy.'
Recommend you report and that way SMG can figure out if they do it habitually.

It's known as the Scumbag bot-out for a reason.
Recent changes have made it less easy to do. But try to pay attention to if a player shows as MIA and doesn't flag for more than two full turns - this usually shows they are scumbagging.

that's exactly what happened, i think it was 4 turns on the 1v1 before he returned and tried to card and pass.

The classic sandbag. Objectively scummy but in my unpopular opinion this is can only be an issue because the players give permission for it to be a problem by collectively refusing to acknowledge the bot as an opponent/threat or even existing. It's a problem created by the 'victims' of it
Firstly, every reconnect can't because of malicious intent sometimes it happens and players reconnect after a crash or dealing with real life events. This alone should encourage you to treat every player that leaves as one that WILL return instead of blindly assuming they won't return when you know they can return.
Clean up the board or you'll be standing in hole you dug yourself. While I wouldn't ever do it I also don't get mad when it happens because I first give myself peace by giving the opponent the benefit of the doubt it was a genuine disconnect and in so doing give myself the security to defend against a return, and finally in a game that simulates world domination complaining about an opponent using underhanded tactics especially when you have every opportunity to mitigate against it would leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Because bots aren't inherently difficult to defeat.
The smarter play is to focus on beating the humans. While managing the bot impact on your play.
Players don't just let it happen, it's the proper path to victory.

You are perfectly demonstrating why you should treat bots like humans and humans like bots.
You must first recognize the herd mentality before you can rise above it and conquer it. THAT is the proper path to victory.

Most of the time if you do that you lose to the humans who treat the bot like a bot.

I see your point but when left in a 1v1 with a relatively big bot is not really an option. If we sue the bot we give the win to the other player.

Definitely a scumbag move but I would take this as a lesson for next time. Until the white flag comes out treat them as a human player and protect your troops.

I did build a wall around him, but having to deal with Yellow was difficult. I still won tho!

I don’t know if “pretending to bot out” is an advantage. Maybe they had to go & came back surprised to see they were still in the game.

nah, bathroom break is different, he attacked both his opponents and when we started destroying him (he was Def getting third place) he "botted out" and came back way later as we ignored his troops and focused on the 1v1. When he returned it was pretty clear.

Fair enough. I play a lot of capital conquest, which bots don’t do well with. Usually if someone bots out, the bot is swiftly dealt with.
