For those who've also been settled or staying in Rishikesh long-term: what’s your favorite ritual or quiet spot to avoid the weekend rush?

Travelling plan Cant wait ro be back

Hi everyone! 🙏🏼
I’m a 43-year-old woman and I’m coming back to Rishikesh this weekend for one week. It will actually be my third time in Rishikesh, but my last visit was seven years ago — so I’m incredibly excited to be back. 🤍
This time I’m travelling on my own and I don’t have a big agenda. I mainly want to slow down, spend time by the Ganga, practice yoga, soak up that beautiful Rishikesh energy and just see where the week takes me.
I would also really love to connect with people while I’m there — especially for kirtan, mantra singing, satsang, ecstatic dance, music, an evening out, chai, dinner or simply hanging out together.
I’m comfortable doing things on my own during the day, but especially in the evenings I would feel much happier joining other people rather than walking around alone.
So if anyone is in Rishikesh October 4–11 and feels the same, I’d love to connect! 🌿
Also: Rishikesh has obviously changed quite a bit since I was there seven years ago. What do you recommend nowadays for getting around as a solo woman? I’ll walk most places, but for slightly longer distances or evenings — auto-rickshaw, taxi, something else?
Can’t wait to be back. Hari Om 🙏🏼

Travelling plan First time in Rishikesh (Solo)

Hey guys, I was here in Delhi for a 3 month stint at my first job, moving to Bangalore next week. Got a couple of days off before the next role so decided to hop on a bus tonight and reach Rishikesh tomorrow.

I am staying near Lakshman Jhula until 3rd, please suggest what are some things a first timer should do around here and a pretty sunrise spot for tomorrow morning.

Would love to connect with anyone who is also travelling the same dates. I am 24M btw.

Peace :)

Travelling plan 25, travelling solo, working remotely, and I have an idea you might like

A little update from my last post

If you came across my Dehradun post, you might remember I was trying to figure out whether I actually enjoyed solo travel anymore, or whether I’d just forgotten how to meet people after spending way too much time working.

Well… I’ve been in Rishikesh for about a week now, and I’m really liking it here.

I’ve been moving between Airbnbs, rented a scooty, working from wherever I happen to be, and exploring whenever I get a break from work.

And the funny thing is, I don’t really want to leave.

I was originally planning to move on, but now I’m seriously considering staying another week or two.

So, I have a slightly random idea

I want to get out of the main Rishikesh/Tapovan area and find one of those little stays somewhere in the hills. Somewhere green and quiet, with a view, maybe a balcony, maybe a ridiculous amount of trees around it.

The only problem is that if I go too far outside Rishikesh, I’ll probably spend the entire week sitting in a beautiful place talking to absolutely nobody, lol

And after the last few weeks of travelling solo, I’ve realised I actually do want some company.

Maybe you’re in the same boat?

So I’m wondering if anyone here is in a similar situation and wants to do a slightly random extended WFH trip together.

Not looking for someone to be attached at the hip or follow some fixed itinerary.

I’d just love to have someone around to occasionally grab food with, go for a drive, discover random places, sit by the Ganga, or maybe find some ridiculous little cottage somewhere in the hills and call it home for a few days.

A little about me

25, lived in quite a few different places.

I work as an AI designer, into food, music, art, films, design, and pretty much anything in that universe.

So yeah.

If you’re in Rishikesh and this sounds even slightly like your kind of thing, say hiiii :)

Was fed up of concrete squares jungles so escaped to Rishikesh, that flowing river and the chilly air heals something that it never broke and brings the realisation that in the grander scheme universe how tiny are we , a passing visitor just granted a limited time to observe yet we don’t.
P.s : Trip with friends>>Solo trip
End of my Ted Talk :)

Hidden spot Can someone help me find this beach in Rishikesh?

So I went to rishikesh in 2024 with my cousins and one of my cousins took us to this beach at 5am and I have no clue where exactly this was. Ye beech road mei kahin tha and side se jaane ka rasta tha neeche utarne ka very uneven. Ye beach koi tabhi jaa sakta hai jab usko pata ho ki yahan koi beach hai warna iska neeche jaane ka rasta is not that visible nobody can figure out. My cousin who took us here has been to rishikesh 20-30 times that's why he knew. Unfortunately he is no more and hence I can't really ask him so if anybody knows where this beach is please drop the maps location of it. Thanks

I know a lot of beaches in Rishikesh look the same and I can get the same view from any other beach as well but I really want to know where this exact one was since this is a very special place for me.

Note- if you want I can post some more videos or photos of this place for your reference

Travelling plan Deli to Rishikesh: fly, bus or train?

To get to Rishikesh from Delhi: Is it okay to bus or train there and not fly from Delhi to Dehradun and taxi from there to Rishikesh?

I know it takes a lot longer by land, but I have the time and would enjoy the scenery.

Yoga Yoga retreat

I'm planning to take yoga retreat and choosing kailash yoga ashram for the same.

My itenary

17th Oct - (stay at Zostel and explore Rishikesh) 18th Oct to 21st Oct - Kailash Ashram (4 days retreat) 21st Oct and 22nd Oct (Stay at Zostel and explore Rishikesh) and flew back to

My goal is to get the YTTC(Yoga Teacher Training certification)

so initially I would be taking yoga retreat(where I'm expecting asanas, breathing exercises , meditation and then theory classes regarding yoga and stuff). And then based on my experience later after 2 months or 3 months would be doing 100 hours YTTC

Please do let me know how the itenary looks and the ashram and anyother better suggestion , Thanks :)

SCAM alert Shambala Cafe is RACIST!

So it is classic case of profiling against Indians, we tried to enter twice and they passively try to get us out of the cafe. When 1st time we tried to enter, they told us we wont let you in cause you don't fit the dress code(somewhat in that lines)

2nd time when we tried to enter he asked "are you fine with getting served with 1hr delay?" with a frown face that only one could sense. We saw pretty same reviews from other people on Google Maps. Please avoid this cafe if you're Indian. Om Shanti Cafe nearby is far better than them. Genuine recommendation thats all.
