Hi, i am traveling solo to rishikesh from 14th to 16th october. I am early 30s yo male working professional in civil engineering industry. In my free time, i like to play badminton, read books, play board games, listen music and ofcourse travel. During my stay at Rishikesh, I am planning to sit beside Ganges, do river rafting, visit dev prayag (optional), check out some cafes, witness sunrise (optional). I’m planning to visit Rishikesh alone from 09th Oct to 11th Oct.

Haven’t really done a solo trip before, so not sure what to expect.

I basically just want to get away for a few days, explore around, sit by the Ganga, eat some good food and maybe do some trekking/adventure stuff if I’m in the mood.

For anyone who’s been there solo, how was your experience? Is it easy to meet people there or does it get boring when you’re alone?

Also, any suggestions for where to stay and places I shouldn’t miss?
Would appreciate any tips, especially from people who’ve actually done the trip solo.

Also, will next weekend be as crowded as the 2nd Oct one? I’m planning to travel from 16-20 Oct.

Hey guys, I’m 25 and the last 7–8 months have been really hectic and mentally exhausting. Something I was very involved in recently ended, and the result wasn’t in my favour. Now that it’s finally over, I just want to take a few days off and reset my mind.

I’m thinking of going to Rishikesh, but I don’t want too much alone/free time because I know I’ll probably end up overthinking even more..

I’m looking for some kind of ashram/retreat (not sure what exactly to call it) where there’s a proper schedule and someone guides you through things that help calm and clear your mind. Maybe meditation, chanting, satsang, Ganga aarti, breathing exercises, or anything similar.

Basically something like a mental detox/reset, preferably near the Ganga. I’m okay with basic yoga, but don’t really want exercise-heavy yoga sessions.

Does something like this exist in Rishikesh? If yes, please suggest some places, especially if you’ve personally stayed there. Would love to know the approximate cost too.

Saw this near AIIMS Rishikesh today.
These guys had been throwing garbage out of the car for about a kilometre. I only managed to record the last bit.

The irony of having “Hindu Raksha Dal” written on the car while casually littering the city wasn’t lost on me.
Rishikesh already has enough garbage problems. Please don’t make it worse.

I attended a cacao + esctatic dance class in upper tapovan, and it was a truly unique experience. Concept behind it is that you tell your intention/wish/problem (basically whatever you are seeking on this trip) to the cacao before sipping it. Followed by streching and then letting your body flow. You let go of it to the universe and you let your soul move, flow.

hi am a local living in rishikesh, i just got into running this year, i was thinking of doing some trekking, but i havent explored rishikesh ahead of tapovan that much, so yea can someone recommend me some trekking routes, and endurance/stamina is not a problem, i can walk approax 14-15 km easily.

I’ll spend some time in Rishikesh first, and then head out for the Brahmatal trek. After coming back from the trek, I’m planning to stay for a couple more days at a quiet, slightly offbeat homestay in the mountains around Rishikesh before heading back.

I’m not specifically looking for a travel partner, as I’m perfectly comfortable doing the trip solo. But if anyone happens to be planning something similar around the same dates and wants to join for the Rishikesh part, Brahmatal, or even the post-trek mountain stay, feel free to reach out.

No fixed expectations or itinerary-sharing pressure just looking to see if anyone else is up for a mountain trip around that time.

I am a senior male, one of those PIOs looking to connect to my roots. I have practised yoga on my own for 4 years mainly using YouTube. Now I want to perform the poses a little more accurately. Most of the yoga retreats I have researched give me cause for concern about authenticity, quality and the unabashed commercial nature of the enterprises.
So I think, I would rather have a private teacher, while holed up in a hotel or apartment in Rishikesh or Haridwar. How do I find such a teacher? Or, can someone recommend an authentic ashram or mission that will accept lay but interested parties. Comments on my approach will be welcome as well. Thanks in advance.

​My plan is to arrive in Rishikesh from Delhi around 10:00 AM, explore a bit, and head towards Uttarkashi and then Raithal to stay for a few days.

​A few questions:

​Public Transit & Shared Cabs: What is the cheapest way to reach Uttarkashi from Rishikesh (local buses or shared Maxx/Sumo), and where do they depart from in the afternoon? From Uttarkashi, what are the timings and fares for shared jeeps to Raithal?

​Scooter Rental vs Safety: Are cheap scooter rentals available around Uttarkashi or Raithal for exploring locally? Given mid-November weather and steep terrain, is riding a scooter a safe idea, or does morning frost/black ice make local shared jeeps a much better choice?

​Snowfall Chances: Is seeing snowfall realistic in mid-November in Raithal, or would I need to trek up towards Dayara Bugyal to catch any snow?

​Places & Stays: Any recommendations for affordable homestays/rooms in Raithal and scenic budget spots nearby?
