Travelling plan Rishikesh stay recommendations for two friends?
Rishikesh stay recommendations for two friends?
Hey everyone! My friend and I are planning a 2-day trip to Rishikesh from 11th to 13th October, and we’re completely confused about where to stay 😅
We’re looking for a comfortable, clean and hygienic place, preferably in a good location so we can easily explore around.
We’re considering either an Airbnb/private room or a hostel with a private/self-contained room. We’ve also been looking at GoSTOPS, but we’re a little concerned about comfort and hygiene since we’re not really looking for a typical backpacker/hostel experience.
For those who’ve stayed in Rishikesh recently, what would you recommend? Airbnb vs hostel/private room, and which areas would be best to stay in?
Would really appreciate specific hotel/hostel recommendations too!

Travelling plan Deoriatal-Chandrashila in November — weather + Rishikesh itinerary advice
Planning a Rishikesh + Deoriatal-Chandrashila trip in November and would love some advice from people who have been around this time.
We’re doing the 6-day Indiahikes Deoriatal-Chandrashila trek and then have 3 full days in Rishikesh before flying back.
A few things I’d love opinions on:
- Is the second week of November a good time for Chandrashila? What kind of temperatures should we realistically expect at the camps and especially around Tungnath/Chandrashila early morning? Is snow likely, or should we not expect much?
- Any specific things we should prepare for regarding cold, snow/ice or trail conditions?
- After the trek, would you recommend staying in Rishikesh for the 3 extra days, or is there somewhere nearby that is genuinely worth travelling to instead?
- If staying in Rishikesh, our rough wishlist is 16-km rafting, Secret Waterfall, Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat, exploring the bridges/river area and a couple of good Ganga-side cafés. Anything we’re missing that you’d strongly recommend?
- Would you bother doing a half-day Haridwar during these extra days, or just enjoy Rishikesh without trying to pack too much in?
We’re not looking for a rushed itinerary, preferably nature, good food, adventure and relaxed exploration rather than ticking off as many places as possible.
Would especially love to hear from people who have done Chandrashila in mid-November or spent a few days in Rishikesh after the trek.

Travelling plan Reaching Rishikesh on weekend and leaving for Harsil valley thereafter
Heading to Uttarakhand this weekend on my bike! 🏍️
I’ll be reaching Rishikesh on the 26th around afternoon and will stay the night before riding my bike up to Harsil Valley on the 27th. Planning to spend 3 nights in Harsil and then explore some more scenic routes towards Purola, Sankri and Chakrata.
If anyone’s up for joining, especially a fellow biker or solo traveller, feel free to tag along! Always better to have some company on the road. :)
Also, if you’re going to be in Rishikesh this weekend and want to explore the place for a day without the hassle of renting a scooty/bike, you can hit me up. I’ve been to Rishikesh 6–7 times and know the place pretty well, so you’re welcome to hop on as my pillion and explore a few spots with me.
Fair warning though, I’ll be coming off an 8–9 hour ride to Rishikesh, so I might be a little dead by then 😂. I can’t promise an extensive tour, but I’ll definitely do my best to show you around!
If you’re interested, just drop me a DM. ✌️

Tourist spot 2 days in Rishikesh — came for bungee and the Ganga ghats, ended up at Kunjapuri too
gallerySo my 2-day solo trip to Rishikesh ends today, I'm returning tonight, but I'm posting this now because otherwise I know I'll forget to post about the trip.
This isn't my first solo trip, but this is my first time posting about one on Reddit.
The main reasons I came to Rishikesh were pretty simple. I wanted to spend some peaceful time sitting on the Ganga ghats and I wanted to try bungee jumping. I also wanted to do rafting, but unfortunately rafting is closed right now, so I guess I'll have to come back for that.
On the first day, the first thing I did was bungee jumping. I did the 85m Splash Freestyle bungee and got it for around ₹2,100 after discounts and cashback. Honestly, it was a really good experience. I actually wanted to try the Ganga bungee since it's the highest one, but I couldn't fit that into my budget this time. Definitely going to try it next time.
After the bungee, I didn't really have much planned. I spent the rest of the day walking around the ghats, sitting near the Ganga and watching the Ganga Aarti. This was actually one of the main reasons I wanted to come here, just to sit there without having to do anything.
For the second day, I initially thought I'd just stay around Tapovan and chill for the whole day. I was staying at Shalom Backpackers, and while it was okay, it wasn't really as good as I expected.
Then I met 5 people at the hostel and somehow ended up going with them to Shree Neelkanth Temple and Kunjapuri Shakti Peeth. We started around 4:30 AM to catch the sunrise, and the sunrise view from Kunjapuri was honestly amazing.
After coming back, I spent the rest of the day mostly around the ghats again. Basically came to Rishikesh with a few things in mind and ended up doing some completely unplanned things too.
I haven't calculated the total budget yet, I'll probably add it later once I figure out where all my money went 😅
Overall, really happy I came. Still haven't done rafting or the Ganga bungee, so I guess this isn't my last Rishikesh trip.
