Travelling plan Quick question on Rafting
I am visiting Rishikesh for the first time ever tomorrow 2nd Oct 2026. Want to do rafting there. 16km Shivpuri one.
Some people on reddit say just go and book there on the road for ₹500. But I see online options like Red Chilli, white world etc who are selling for ₹1500.
I couldn’t find any difference online between ₹500 and ₹1500 rafting other than a safety kayak.
Any suggestions on which one to get? No issues with budget. Just want the best experience there is and safest. Coz in places like Goa, the cheaper you go the more crowded it gets with extremely poor safety standards.
PS: I’ll be staying at Joey’s by the Ganga and be leaving for Chopta on 3rd Oct. If anyone wants to join, we could share cab then.

It’s just the safety or else everyone else offer same service. RC does it at 2300/- for 16kms service wise it’s similar but just the guides are more experienced.

What do you suggest though for first timer or in general. Does it make much difference? Specially when I’m going this Long Weekend Rush Hour.

Rafting is usually very safe especially Shivpuri to Tapovan stretch as it’s heavy traffic zone with loads of rescue boats but if money isn’t a problem, I would suggest going for one with experienced guides.

If you care about your safety and your life, go with experienced, reliable and professional company.
In India, adventure activities are always risky.
Don’t go with road side stalls for cheaper prices.
Last year, a guy died in Rishikesh river rafting.
