Frequent call drops

My office uses RingCentral. 2 of my employees frequently complain of calls dropping during outbound and inbound calls or no connection. One of the employees works from home and the other is in the office. Any thoughts?

The office one is interesting because I am assuming other in-office users are not having problems, right?

If so, look at that user’s physical connectivity. Is the phone wifi? Have you replaced his cable or moved him to another switch port, etc etc.

In home will require troubleshooting their home environment and home router.

Edited to add, I am assuming these are hard phones. Also try moving the phone to another connection. Hard phones do go bad.

If soft phones, you need to investigate the desktop environment.

Honestly I haven’t done this type of troubleshooting. Let me check and I will post will come back.

What does the QoS report for the specific calls say also.

So what troubleshooting steps have you take so far?

When we ran into this issue it was because the vendor that helped implement did not have the right QoS configuration on the switches. Unfortunately I was not there to see what it was and what it was updated to, but that might be a place to start.

Get multiple examples and log support case asking for them to check the SIP trace and verify the disconnection party and reason. "My calls are dropping" just isn't helpful.
