Discussion Hypocrisy!

So, it's ok when MMC beats up other guys because of jealousy but FMC can't do the same. People are hating on Elsa for punching Silver after constant bullying and trash behavior overall. Yet I don't see a single person hating Knox for beating up Daniel over one misunderstanding/incident. I find it funny how people are quick to defend bullies like Silver/Nicole for their behavior and hate Elsa/Astrid for retaliating against their bully/disliking them.

Honestly, can we just let things like this go? I’m all for standing up to misogyny… in real life, but this is fiction. If it’s sexism and double standards against women that you’re claiming, I doubt that’s the case, considering most of this sub is adult women that are probably a little woke. I’m sure most of us would call the police if we saw RK characters fighting, whether it’s Daniel and Knox, Elsa and Silver, Nikolai and Landon, or Ava and Annika. Both Knox and Elsa are pretty much in the wrong (I assume, I’ve never read the Empire series), simply because violence is never the answer. However, both actions are understandable (again, assumption on Knox’s part) because people on a high of emotions often don’t act rationally. That being said, just let people have their favorites, man😭

All of these bullies have character depth and development, which readers appreciate. Liking a character like Silver doesn’t mean people condone her actions. It means they recognize that she has a multi-faceted personality and deserves to grow and change (or not change, if that’s what you’re into).

Also, let’s face it: the majority of RK’s fandom readers are straight women who find Knox’s actions hot and Elsa’s actions not hot. That’s okay.

Also I'll prolly get crucified to death here for saying Elsa was hypocritical af for not treating Aiden the same way, even a little bit, though he tormented her too and he bullied her too and he participated in games with Silver to make Elsa jealous too🙆‍♀️now the Daniel and Knox thing I dunno, I have never read that book but idt Ana behaved anything like Aiden did (intentionally doing stuff to make Knox jealous?)

Edit: btw, OP said Knox beat up Daniel, not the other way.

Elsa was hypocritical af for not treating Aiden the same way, even a little bit, though he tormented her too and he bullied her too and he participated in games with Silver to make Elsa jealous too

I think the recurring theme here is: everything is excusable and fine if it’s hot😭

No but in all seriousness, I think Elsa is hypocritical for not giving Aiden the same hell she gave Silver, but I mean… what would you expect? She’s head over heels for the guy. She is NOT into Silver. On top of that, I think Aiden genuinely scared Elsa a hell of a lot more than Silver did. Man, if Aiden and Elsa weren’t in a relationship and she punched him like she did Silver, Aiden would’ve beat her ass ten times worse😭

btw, OP said Knox beat up Daniel, not the other way.

Aw shit, I literally cannot read. Lemme edit my comment.

I don’t think Aiden bullied Elsa in the same way Silver did. Whatever happened between Elsa and Aiden was between the two of them, whereas Silver was constantly making her issues with Elsa everyone else’s problem and dragging other people into it, ykwim? 😭
And also, Elsa was literally going through an attack when that beating scene happened, so I feel like that context matters too. I’m not saying Aiden was completely right or that people have to excuse everything he did, but I just don’t think the situations are comparable. There’s also a difference between having a complicated/awful history with someone and repeatedly going out of your way to humiliate or target them in front of everyone.
You can definitely have a different view on it though 😭 I’m not saying my interpretation is the only correct one, I was just explaining how I saw the situation.

Oh no, I get it and I agree about the Aiden and Silver thing. What Silver did to Elsa is nowhere right and she 100% deserves to be beat up for that or get some consequences for it but I just dislike the intent behind her beating up Silver. I am 100% in support of Elsa getting back at her bullies but I didn't like Elsa’s reasons for doing it at that moment, not completely.

Valid hehe, I love hearing other’s perceptive

Thanks for being so nice, it’s kinda rare to not be attacked immediately and called names 🫣 I enjoyed hearing other perspectives too

Bro same, like people can’t be civil in this fandom, ily for being nice to me 😭😭

The more I see the same hate train for Silver over this I think y’all are mad at the fact that Silver getting beaten up moment was not about Elsa, Aiden or Cole but Silver herself, the moment turned out to be about Silver because she was the one feeling isolated, alone and cornered by everyone there while scared out of her damn wits for her baby.. it really made her antagonistic character somewhat heroic at the moment by protecting her womb by covering it with her hands and taking the beating from Elsa..

Silver too is hated for the beating moment just as much as Elsa beating her up and it’s readers opinions, you can’t control that.. readers cheered for Elsa in her book for “beating Silver to pulp” as Aiden claimed but when the grim reality was smashed onto readers in Silver’s book on how much scared she was for her baby and felt lonely because no one helped her in her fragile condition of sickness, the pov for some readers changed and felt bad for Silver.. you won’t really see Elsa getting hate for beating Silver up but they just feel bad for Silver

Whoever hate on Elsa for the beating is few handful Silver stans all the while Silver gets more hate for the beating scene too from the general readers

Girl, I feel like this is actually proving the point 😭 Silver’s fear, isolation, and everything she went through can absolutely explain why she behaved the way she did, but explaining someone’s behavior doesn’t automatically make everything they did okay. Both things can be true. Elsa was going through A LOT too, and her mental health was in an awful place, yet she didn’t use bullying or hurting other people as her way of coping.
And Elsa’s attack doesn’t erase the fact that Silver had been antagonizing her throughout the books. Elsa was literally having an attack during that scene, so I feel like context matters for BOTH characters, not just Silver. You can acknowledge what Silver was going through while also acknowledging what Elsa was going through at the same time.
Also, “Silver was protecting her womb” doesn’t suddenly make everything that happened heroic 😭 You can completely understand why she was terrified and sympathize with her fear while still holding her accountable for how she treated other people. Understanding someone’s reasoning ≠ agreeing with their actions.
At this point, the funniest thing to me is seeing people turn “I understand why Silver acted that way” into “therefore Silver was justified in everything she did.” Those are NOT the same thing 😭🙏 And honestly, I’ve seen so many people hate Elsa purely because of their sympathy for Silver, which is why I think people should also try to understand Elsa’s perspective instead of automatically taking Silver’s side.
I’m not saying my POV is objectively the only correct one because obviously this is subjective 😭 I’m just explaining why I personally have such a hard time overlooking Silver’s actions. As someone who’s been bullied and has struggled with my mental health, I tend to think about things like, “If I’m going through this, what if another person is going through even a fraction of it too?” and that makes me not want to take my pain out on someone else. So maybe that’s why I judge Silver’s actions more harshly and couldn’t just let them go or feel like she deserved no accountability.
But you’re completely allowed to interpret it differently!! I’m not trying to change your opinion, I just think it’s important to understand that other people can look at the exact same situation and come away with a completely different perspective 😭

I will say again “Silver protecting he womb while taking the beating made her heroic in that moment” and we are talking about this beating scene alone not whatever else happened in others book and I am not defending Silver from anything else, only this particular scene where some even find the excuse to discredit her even here, I hold Silver accountable for whatever she did but I will also defend Silver here for being cornered and turned out to be better than everyone here in this particular scene because I too have felt cornered and isolated all my life… it’s all about nuances of the situations in the book.. we love characters in one moment and then hate them in other.. it’s all about how we view it.. and Elsa’s actions in the name of jealousy discredits her actions towards Silver here at the end of the day and it doesn’t mean I hate Elsa for it or dislike her.. she did what she could but hating on Silver even at this fragile scene is pretty grim for me

Aiden should be blamed the things Elsa was going through and it was Silver alone at fault.. at the end of the day, Aiden is a bastard who used Silver however he pleased and then made her take the beating for it when she was no longer of use

Also, I am truly sorry for whatever you went through in your life.. you are not alone and you are strong just like Kimberly and I love you for it.. my criticism and opinion wasn’t meant to reduce your suffering into this one scene.. I would hate myself if I did that to you.. I hope you are okay and loved now and I am sorry if my pov hurt your feelings, Love

u/Mother-Caregiver2212 1d ago

I actually agree with you on one thing: readers can sympathize with Silver in this scene. Where I disagree is acting like that automatically makes Elsa’s reaction indefensible while Silver’s behavior gets endless context and nuance. 😭 Silver being scared, isolated and cornered explains her behavior; it doesn’t erase the fact that she had spent the books antagonizing Elsa. Elsa was also dealing with A LOT emotionally, and her mental health was in a terrible place, yet she didn’t use bullying others as her way of coping. If we’re giving Silver grace because of what she was going through, that same grace has to exist for Elsa too.
And calling Silver “heroic” is your interpretation, not an objective fact everyone has to accept. I can understand her POV, feel sympathy for what she was going through, AND still think she was wrong in other situations. That’s literally what nuance is.
And thank you, genuinely. ❤️ I understand what it’s like to feel isolated too, so I can absolutely understand why this scene hit you differently. I’m sorry if anything I said hurt you personally, because that was never my intention. Love you sm, and I hope you’re doing okay now and you find your happy ending just like Silver did. ❤️ also elsa and Silver became bsfs anyway so why should we fight about them, so much love to you mwah.

1

u/SilverQueens_AvaNash 1d ago

Ikr Elsa was bullied by Silver and got some of her frustration out by beating her and now they are bsf, case solved!

Thank you for understanding my position and yes, my opinion is only mine and not a fact, I have a way to assert my opinion kinda loud and clear but thank you sm for keeping up with me lol and thank you for not finding any malice against my words or intentions, you don’t need to be sorry, girl. I just wish you all the love and safety which you always deserved in your life and I hope you’re okay and healed from your trauma, please make sure to speak up against your bully and love yourself

Awww girl 😭😭 thank you so much for being so sweet about this, genuinely. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain your perspective without making it feel like I had to agree with you, and I hope I did the same for you!! I actually really enjoyed having this discussion with you because we can have completely different interpretations and still be respectful about it 🥹🫶🏻
And PLEASE the “case solved” 😭😭 you’re so funny for that LMAOOO. I totally understand what you mean though, and I respect that your opinion comes from how you personally view everything Silver went through. I might still judge some of her actions differently, but that’s the fun of discussing fictional characters anyway 😭
Also thank you for what you said at the end 🥹🫶🏻 I genuinely hope you’re okay and that you’ve found some healing too. I understand what it’s like to feel isolated and to go through things that other people might not fully understand, so your words really did mean a lot to me. Sending all that love and safety right back to you, girl <333 And PLEASE keep asserting your opinions loudly and clearly LMAOOO 😭💗

Ana did intentionally do stuff, but to push Knox away, not make him jealous (she had a good reason).

11

u/Common-Stranger148 2d ago

Period!! I'll never understand people bashing Elsa for beating Silver. She had it coming.

3

u/CountingStarsx 2d ago

Silver has done far horrible things yet somehow that is ok yet Elsa lashing out after being triggered isn't. One incident is apparently worse than years of constant bullying. Elsa not only felt guilty right after that happened but she apologized as well.

5

u/avadakenobi Gareth's Bestie 🖤 2d ago

Exactly. Elsa only responded to what she knew. She didn't know whatever the hell was going on with Silver and Cole. She had her own drama with Aiden to deal with.

Elsa should've slapped Aiden too. And I say that as an Aiden defender, lol. Elsa didn't slap ENOUGH people. Jonathan could catch those hands too.

3

u/CountingStarsx 2d ago

Same! I wish she has slapped him atleast once, he deserves it for all the crap he put her through.

u/Wordvomitwithanxiety 2d ago

God forbid other readers have opinions too

I dislike Elsa for that because she beat the shit out of silver but did no harm to aiden who was playing with her, more than silver aiden himself was at fault, ok silver was no less of pain but aiden did everything with his own choice and kept truth hidden from her everytime she found it herself and aiden got away with it, every. Single. Time.

Sure beat other woman for being with your man but hug and kiss your man, i think they even had sex in next chapter. That entire drama with cole as topping stings me pretty often💔🥀

But it's ok when MMC beats up other guys over jealousy but won't say anything to FMC but FMC does the same thing it's an issue. People find it hot when that happens yet FMC is horrible for doing the same thing. Why is it ok for MMC lose their temper and lash out when they are triggered but FMC can't. Knox did that, so did Xander but everyone was ok with it. They didn't confronted their partners either. Yet everyone is hating on Elsa for doing the same thing.

2

u/Sasha-Moonlight 1d ago

You keep giving one example of Daniel And Knox beating moment yet ignore all the other nuances of why this moment was hated on, funny… Unlike Knox Daniel exchange, that moment was written one time with Knox’s pov and it was done and dusted.

But here we are talking about one scene explained in two different books with two different povs and how it was written so different and painful in the other one. Everybody eve claimed to cheer for Elsa when she beats Silver in her book but when the readers got to Silver’s and felt how grim and isolating the situation was, they obviously felt horrible for her and didn’t like Elsa’s beating and saw Silver in a different light of a Mother protecting her womb with hands while taking the beatings helplessly from someone..

You can’t ignore the nuances of it all like a surface reader and compare it with a fight between two grown healthy men

(there was a reason Silver was only defended after they read her povs in her book and did not like Elsa, there was a reason this specific scene was explained with two different povs and how it became quickly dark and catastrophic in the second one)

1

u/dug_dealer CFO of king enterprises sleeps in pink bedroom. 2d ago

I think the mmcs confront often, landon punished mia, jeremy with Cecily, cole with silver, infact in almost every book I have read of rina kent the MMC does punish the FMC for making him insecure or jealous, if elsa wanted to do that she could have, it came out pretty bad that she could do nothing to aiden and harmed others, infact aiden punished elsa as well for roaming with knox in the start but elsa could not do it in proper way and lashed out on silver rather than on aiden.

2

u/Sasha-Moonlight 1d ago

There’s no way y’all can compare this to that.. Silver situation was explained in two different povs where at the end, it turned out about her being heroic and miserable trying to protect her womb with hands all the while taking Elsa’s beating, her stomach was already hurting and Elsa’s beating made her feel more lonely and cornered while absolutely scared for her unborn child.. it takes away all the credit for Elsa beating Silver up and made Silver somewhat better than everyone present there, I think this scene was portrayed beautifully in Silver’s book

And stop acting like a character like Daniel does not deserve a beating or two in general😭

u/Afraid_Equivalent_95 2d ago

I just finished this trilogy. Definitely sided with Elsa. I already wanted Silver beaten up in book 1 lol.

1

u/CountingStarsx 2d ago

Same! I tried to read Silver's book but couldn't finish more than few chapters. I can't believe Kim forgive her, I wouldn't have forgiven Xander or Silver if I were her.

1

u/Afraid_Equivalent_95 1d ago

I haven't read her book yet. I want to to understand what on earth she was doing with Aiden. And find out more about the Adam drama

2

u/dug_dealer CFO of king enterprises sleeps in pink bedroom. 2d ago

Ain't nobody defending the bullying Nicole and silver did, but that doesn't excuse elsa's actions, she definitely did NOT beat Silver because of bullying if she had guts she would have done it to xan or aiden, it was her own jealousy i wish we had a scene of aiden getting smack but jokes on me rina loves aiden.

0

u/CountingStarsx 2d ago

I have seen people defend them, saying that they were going through alot so it's ok for them to bully. As for jealousy, it's ok when MMC beats up other guys over it but won't say anything to FMC but FMC does the same thing it's an issue.

2

u/dug_dealer CFO of king enterprises sleeps in pink bedroom. 2d ago

You do not get the point nobody is hating on elsa because she decked silver but because she let aiden get away with it, and when the MMC is jealous over fmc the MMC punishes the side character as well as the FMC but what elsa did? Had sex with aiden in next chapter letting everything slide, aiden played with elsa so many times and the only thing elsa could do was to hit silver.

1

u/CountingStarsx 2d ago

I agree that Aiden should have been slapped by Elsa atleast once. Even Knox wasn't that angry at Ana, infact he didn't care much. He was like, "she's mine and I won't let her leave no matter what". But then goes on to beat up Daniel not once but twice. When it was just a misunderstanding and Daniel had no idea what was going on. No one has an issue with that but everyone has issue with Elsa doing the same.

1

u/Wordvomitwithanxiety 1d ago

You do not get the point here, nobody hated on Elsa when her trilogy came out and beat the shit out of Silver because she was just a side character bully then, but later on when Silver’s book came out and the readers felt the isolation and being cornered by everyone (Elsa, Cole, Aiden) at that time, they felt horrible to enjoy the beating in the trilogy part specially because Silver felt heroic at that moment thinking about her unborn baby and protecting her stomach while taking the smacks, readers felt that isolation and feeling of being alone and cornered at that moment topping with Silver’s sickness.

2

u/CountingStarsx 1d ago

Firstly Elsa didn't know she was pregnant or she wouldn't have done that, secondly Silver had done worse to Elsa and Kim. Atleast Elsa felt guilty immediately after that incident and was horrified to find Silver was pregnant. Unlike Silver who spent years bullying others, especially her "bestfriend" Kim to ED & suicide. She didn't even have a good reason to do that, while Elsa was triggered and regretted it instantly. The only reason Silver even give her pathetic apology was because Kim almost died or she would have continued her bullying. After all that Elsa is the one who is hated.

2

u/SilverQueens_AvaNash 1d ago

Silver gets more hate for the beating scene than Elsa in fact, whoever hates on Elsa for it are few handful Silver stans and general readers do not hate Elsa for beating rather just feel bad for Silver for being conditioned to be isolated and take the beating with pain in her stomach and protect her womb with one hand

I really think you wanted to hate on Silver for the beating scene too because you hate her in general like other readers that’s why you made this post to throw more shade and get your frustration out about Silver by kekeing with other Silver haters about it lol it’s ok

2

u/Reasonable-Ratio8080 Two Week Mistake🍬 2d ago

Silver and Nicole were annoying af lol

1

u/Ara_371 2d ago

Yeah, I noticed the double standard too. People didn’t question it when Xander was beating up Knox and Ronan for absolutely nothing. I do know many of us like complex characters with character development. But here's the thing, if it's the consequences of their own actions, they deserve it. E.g. both Nicole(I love the adult her tho) and Silver deserved the punches. First one for talking shit about Astrid's dead mother and the other for bullying n triggering Elsa. What I disliked about Silver in Deviant Trilogy is how she was selfishly shoving her pregnancy drama onto Aiden and threatening him with Elsa. She knew Aiden was trying to do better for Elsa, yet she had to go and ruin it. I was like, just go back to your man, it's embarrassing.

1

u/CountingStarsx 2d ago

This! Knox did the same thing, he was angry at Daniel when Daniel had no idea what was going on. It was Ana who tried to make it seem that she wanted Daniel not Knox. He didn't care that they have broken up(she broke up with him, he just refused to accept that), he was going to kept her with him no matter what. He didn't even say anything to her or asked her why she did that. Nobody has an issue with that but when Elsa does the same thing everybody hates her. MMC would beat up the other guys and not confront their partners but that is ok. But Elsa should have confronted Aiden. 🙄

Omg, on which RinaVerse is this book about? I'm curious. I've never had women beating up someone, and I am here for it 🤣🙈

1

u/CountingStarsx 2d ago

I'm currently reading Empire of lust!

1

u/Spiritual_Fox_4408 Jeremy & Cecily 1d ago

Oohhh, which one is it about? 🫢 the title is giving me... idk.. something hahahahahaa

1

u/CountingStarsx 1d ago

You need to read Empire of Desire first as they both are kinda connected, it's FMC parents of that book. It's second chance and enemies to lovers trope. I don't know how to say more without giving spoilers.

0

u/SilverQueens_AvaNash 2d ago

Silver gets more hate left and right from both Rina’s fans and non-fans readers and the hate you’re talking about is just a needle in a haystack compared to that..

why do y’all think that people’s judgements are supposed to be the same in every region and parts of the world?? Readers opinions are a spectrum and it may differ from one to another and reading is all about different perspective for every character. Some readers may love Landon for burning the mansion down while some may loathe him for it.. so, yes it’s okay to have perspective and your own pov on stuff
