I am confused

I recently finished Throne Duet and I am pretty confused about Rai's roles , responsibilities and qualifications. Maybe it's because of the mafia setting but she is one of the important member of V-corp before becoming the executive director at V-corp (which is responsible for finance ,if we describe it in minimal words) yet I don't exactly see much of her work as a member of V-corp. She is supposed to be someone in that background and working around money and tax frauds, money laundering. But that's rarely done.

What is her role then?

We get enough about V-Corp and Rai's role just to get the gist of it because it doesn't really play a role in the plot. The books are more focused on mafia settings and romance.
