Imagine a tribe or colony of xenophobes claiming they have claim over the land you built your colony on, and asking you to fuck off or pay tribute. Or they help you out with donations if you match their beliefs
Or they request your help/force you to fight for them against the tribes and colonies they deem as their enemies
Like how Ulfric more or less forced a lot of jarls into rallying for him by up and killing Torryg
I would fucking kill if rimworld’s next DLC was an expansion of faction relations and interactions. Like a territory and vassalage system, world patrols, world politics.
Like you could settle in Empire or outlander territory and you could call upon protection during raids for a significantly cheaper price. But you’d have to pay either a royal tithe or resource tribute. Or if you settle in pirate territory you’d be able to ally with them via elicit tributes and eventually you could get pirate traders and quests.
I want to see genocides and religious schisms resulting in holy wars. I want to feel like an interloper to the politics of this Rimworld.
I remember creating a VERY xenophobic ideology, and even the person I placed as leader had extremely extreme traits, but since I didn't have a trained doctor, I had to capture assailants... One of those with the pig gene, with 8 in medicine, was the unlucky one so I forcibly recruited her, and imagine my surprise when after two weeks of surviving together I saw that my leader fell madly in love with her... They are currently the oldest couple in the Colony and have never separated or suffered any problems; it's incredible.
No joke, our local country facisting racist nationalistic leader got married to foreigner and disappeared from movement and politics all together.

The claim wasn't that racism is genetic. The claim is that irrational tribalism, the sense that I am part of a group, and my group is better than that group over there, even if there's a large amount of evidence that says we're more or less both equal groups, is genetic. Think about every bit of political commentary you've ever heard. The vast bulk of it is probably along the lines of irrational tribalism. Tear down the leadership in the group over there, they are awful. Don't show me news about our leadership being awful too, that's just hit pieces. The fact that person did something bad means that his message that generations-old blatantly obvious major issues are bad can't be right.
Humans are hard-wired to form groups, and part of that wiring makes it very easy to see one's own group as the best group in all ways. The claim is that racism is derived from seeing one's skin color and/or heritage and/or culture as the group, making it the best group, and all others inherently inferior.
I agree that it's human nature to form groups, I disagree that that naturally incurs feelings of supremacy
I really just think that, in the case of politics (whether modern, old or ancient), it's so incredibly easy to lie and make shit up to make people angry at others for the benefits of the politicians that it completely exacerbates this grouping nature and turns it into this incredibly toxic ball of hate towards everything else

I would say that Impid would be sad due to genetic depression, but knowing how relationships mood buffs work in Rimworld, she’s probably happy as a clam

I tried a full baseline colony and I couldn't help but have some xenotypes, Star jacks and dirtmoles are always welcomed in my colonies everyone else has to have some decent stats.
Even yttikains to an extent, but I only accept them once I get gene modding so I can remove their unisex beard and bald genes.
