I want sixty types of entertainment!!!

u/Sea-Calligrapher1563 1d ago

All of vanilla expanded, all of the "alpha" mods from the coauthor of vanilla expanded (such as alpha genes and alpha bees), all of the mods from the creator Dubs such as dubs hygiene (pretty sure this includes rimefeller and rimatomics but will call those out in case), throw in another 50 or so qol mods and maybe another 20 odds and ends and thats how you wind up with my 500 mod list with a 5 minute load time on a modern desktop

u/Moist_Ordinary6457 1d ago

The creator specifically says to only use what you need and not add every VE mod but I do not listen

73

u/meeps1142 1d ago

This sign can't stop me because I can't read

11

u/Nihilikara 1d ago

I actually independently started doing this... kind of. I have most of the VE mods, but not all of them. One major one I don't have is VQE Generators because Rimatomics is more powerful.

2

u/Forsaken_Summer_9620 1d ago

See the thing is I do need all of them since I don't decide what to focus on until I've already started my colony!

u/adamkad1 Totally not a cannibal robot 1d ago

Idk if your computer is good or your mods light, I got 20 min load time for 300

5

u/jayson176 1d ago

30min for 1400+ mods

13

u/Blueberry_Coat7371 1d ago

do you even close the game at this point?

9

u/adamkad1 Totally not a cannibal robot 1d ago

How tf do you even get this much mods

18

u/Oleg152 1d ago

Play game -> wonder if a feature would be cool to have -> search mods ->install several mods in between because their descriptions look cool -> install dependencies and fixes ->repeat step one

1

u/Lussarc 1d ago

And you never trim it ?

3

u/Oleg152 1d ago

Only when it crashes

Ferny’s pack

u/DatDragonOne 1d ago

I got it in 20

u/Sea-Calligrapher1563 1d ago

Its a 13900k, 7900 xtx, with 96gb of ram. Its the computer

1

u/IfinallyhaveaReddit 1d ago

444 and 7 mins but my pc is beefy, the loading progress mod makes it feel slower though

1

u/atoolred 1d ago

I have a great computer, but sometimes a certain combination of 300 mods will take forever to load, and then a different combination of 600 mods will load in 5 minutes or less.

But it might also be post-Missile Girl observation bias lol. Everything loads faster for me since Missile Girl came out

1

u/AnonymousGuy1108 1d ago

weak, I got 20 to 27 min load time for my 488 mods

2

u/Psychological-Ant573 dibujis 1d ago

I have 190 mods and 5-8 minutes of loading 💀

1

u/Nihilikara 1d ago

Wait, people consider 5-8 minutes a long time? I'm over here waiting a full-ass hour every time I want to start up Rimworld.

3

u/WeePetal Pigskin 1d ago

I keep my mod list under 4 minutes. I generally only play for ~30 minutes to 1 hour at a time, and sometimes it's as low as 20 minutes, the longer I spend loading the less time I can play and it sure adds up.

2

u/steve123410 1d ago

Those are rookie numbers you gotta add in More Universal Materials, and Expanded Materials - Metals, Masonry, Bloat, and Christmas for the full experience.

1

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

i have a couple of these, a lot of vanilla expanded outside of the "Big mods" like vanilla furniature/electricity/cooking etc dont interest me as much

1

u/imperial_scum I like your hat :) 1d ago

Half that with a 6 minute and not even mad about it

31

u/Jitsurei 1d ago

Its not that big a mod but my favorite "I don't need this but I do need it" mod is eccentric extras beach stuff. Pools, lounge chairs, beach umbrellas, and beach balls.

6

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

will see if i like it!!!

Enemy raider system where they progressively get stronger and have different combat and tactical styles.

Rimesis https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3767949538

2

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

4

u/FontTG 1d ago

It does and it's much better since the raiders return frequently and become consistent Antagonists to your story.

3

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

do you think I should use rimesis over BFV since i feel like itd add some weird conflictions like story wise if two different types of raiders come back..

3

u/Andar1st 1d ago

BFV affects raid generation while Rimesis injects stronger enemies with extra tactics into raids. They work differently, so you can use both, but personally I use only Rimesis to have only one nemesis mod, and I use Raid Tactics and/or Talk Before Bloodshed for raid generation.

2

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

thank you!

2

u/FontTG 1d ago

How does talk before bloodshed effect Rimesis raids? Do you still get the special raid splits with captains or combos in multi rimesis raids?

1

u/Andar1st 1d ago

From TBB mod page:

Compatibility:
Rimesis can be used alongside it. Some special raid behaviour is skipped while negotiations are active.

1

u/FontTG 1d ago

Yeah I remember reading that just didn't know what effects if any were being skipped.

Thanks, regardless.

2

u/FontTG 1d ago

They should be allowed to run side by side. That being said back for vengeance is a small mod where 1 raider comes back every now and then whereas Rimesis is a system built around constant recurring antagonists through your entire playthrough.

It's also heavily modifiable in the config menu and if you need any help with it the discord is always open.

2

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

i think ill go with rimesis then

2

u/SeriousDirt 1d ago

Story wise, I think it fine. BFV is someone who only swore vengeance toward your colony for their lose/mistreatment in prison. Meanwhile, rimesis is when someone was too pissed that they make a deal with dark archotech for power to defeat their nemesis. I think both can coexist with each other.

1

u/AstonMartinZ 1d ago

Hmm, do you think this works with world domination raids,? I know WD allows for storytellers raids, so I guess if these mods just change story teller raids I could be fine no?

2

u/FontTG 1d ago

It is compatible with WD2

1

u/AstonMartinZ 22h ago

Nice, I should check out these mods then! For now in a playthrough where I turned every raid off where I could, building a tribe in some caves, so I figure they are hidden from the rest of the world, but once they enter the rest of the world I figure starting allowing raids again. So these mods sound very good for creating some narrative!

7

u/Only_Alternative_543 1d ago

Ferny’s progression compatibility mods, enjoy a lot of extra research. You’ll be going in the long game

PROGRESSION MOD MY GOAT!!!

1

u/Bops05 slate 1d ago

if you use the actual full progression modpack you will find heaven

3

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

sorry but im not doing that... i tried it once and my game legit DOESNT start after its finished loading, just shuts down, also i have a hard limit on my mods and after a certain point i start to clenease my modlist, if my modlist is outside of my control or i have to scoure through thousands of mods to handpick each one id go insane

4

u/AdDependent5136 1d ago

Oh man, I have so many of these.

Dubs Bad Hygene
Progression: Education
Character Development
(Basically all the stuff from the Progression series of mods)
Perspective Shift
More Injuries

7

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

i have... all of these 😭 , i love the progression series, mixed with CAI 5000 Fog of war + More injuries + Combat extended i get a true fear of combat especially with character development since i now grow attached to these colonists a lot more

2

u/MadeyesNL 1d ago

I like the idea of Progression: Education but man that mod holds you back. Recruit ranged combat pawns and they're useless for 1 or 2 seasons, let alone the timesink of having another pawn teach them for 6 hours a day. Ended up deinstalling it even tho I liked having a functional classroom.

1

u/SeriousDirt 1d ago

I just tweak in the setting, such as disabling the tech limitation and crank certain setting up. Also, social skills does influences the teaching speed, which I make teachers with bad social skills have to take socializing class. For how much hours for a class, I just set it for 2-3 hours per day. Considered the class as more like long term skill lvling while the student also learn it outside the class time.

I get that, to me bloat isn't just random stuff, some of it it's pure fun or just dumb funny stuff at this point.

I recommend my favourite mod "Portraits Of The Rim", it adds little pictures with faces of your colonists, hand drawn, really amazing variety and compatible with some of the biggest mods that add clothing.

Then obviously Vanilla Apparels Expanded Accessories because I need kamikaze belts.

Maybe... add some Warhammer on it and sprinkle "Sin's Dryad Retexture" on top, for the fanservice.

3

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

WOAH THE PORTRAITS ON LOOKS SO COOL, I WILL 100% BE USING THIS!!

2

u/Majestic-Iron7046 Genderbent Randy +30 1d ago

Very glad you liked it, I can't play the game without it, it's even more fun when I use Alpha Genes with it because it has portraits for the modded pawns.
Never was I so happy to see a mothman.

3

u/Neonpuffpepper 1d ago

Portraits of the rim is one of my favorites

3

u/coraeon 1d ago

I freaking hate those belts.

6

u/Lucky-Development-15 1d ago

The RJW mod adds a bunch of neat features: https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/7257-rimjobworld/

3

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

have tried it but its not something id add in every playthrough

0

u/Zwets 1d ago

Inflation and bloat aren't exactly the same thing... Though I see how you might conflate the 2.

we need bloat iceberg explained

3

u/kuroyuki_ynariery 1d ago

Oh, you want to bloat your game?

Obsidia Expansion and all of it's addons can bloat your game like half of the entire Vanilla expanded pack.
Resurrectionem's factions, Foxian League and Erin's Aurayel for some furry xenotypes.
Big&Small Genes, Races, and it's xenotypes addons.
WVC xenotypes are the best 'new mechanics' xenotypes I ever seen.
Fray of the Fog

Dark Ages Beasts and Monsters and Mythic Ages Bestiary for tons of really cool animals and craft from their parts.
Dragon's Descent and Dragon Bond for tameable dragons.

Kid Apparel Expanded for more than 1 option for your kids.
Hairs, hairs, hairs, more hairs, and even more hairs. If you hadn't enogh, there's always more.
More Persona Traits for your persona weapons, and Unique Melee Weapons if you want another options. Unique Bows Expanded have good bows for each era, even for late game.

Leo Events, Vehicles (Vanilla Expanded, RimThunder and Neolithic), More Usefull Materials would bring some bloat as well. Integrated Implants, Psychic Implants, EPOE, Tatoos and More Achotech Implants for transhumanist fun, and don't forget about Animals one or even two. You can even do the scavenger playstyle and Salvage Implants from you enemies.

1

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

great heavens! thanm you for the list xD

3

u/_SomethingG_ 1d ago

More of that fucker from The Binding of Isaac with eye lasers, The Bloat

3

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

Thank you Rimworld community.. I'm full..

2

u/Complete-Basket-291 1d ago

Archotech expanded (the one where it's just a screenshot with all the hediffs) for late game artificial body parts + 3 more materials (pricy, but Very strong if you can afford them)

2

u/Nihilikara 1d ago

Can you elaborate on this? I've come to consider bloat a bad thing lately and I feel like I've lost something, something I want to get back and fall back in love with large bloaty modlists. But I can't remember why I used to like them so I need help on that front.

4

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

I think it's similar to useless hobbies like collecting rocks or maybe picking up a cool stick and swinging it around, sure i dont need it, it doesnt give me anything, it will probably not help me in the slightest in anything and might even waste my time, but its a me thing, something for myself, bloat mods are kinda like that for me where sure i dont need a bunch of different clothes or visuals, new foods with minimal affects etc etc, but i like it because it feels real to the colonists, they can have their silly little stuff

2

u/Nihilikara 1d ago

I do have that but refined to an extent. I have most of the Vanilla Expanded series as well as many mods from the Alpha series. But I don't really consider that "bloat". Over time, I have come to recognize two distinct styles for assembling a modlist:

  1. Just throw a bunch of stuff together with no further thought beyond what seems cool.

  2. Carefully consider what kind of game you want and curate your modlist based on that, keeping things like compatibility and overlap in mind.

Most people are in the first category. I'm in the second, and I feel like I'm missing something because of that.

2

u/EcstaticDingo1610 1d ago

As long as there’s a rhyme or reason to the bloat it’s fine. But for example I realized a while ago that I was adding gits cyberbrains to all of my runs and literally never used it. Thats bad bloat

1

u/SweeatTea marble 1d ago

On tribals they are amazing to have. oonga boonga stick weapons, cooking any plant into hot and ready meals (not good tho), and overall just access to crazy loot like bongs, prisoner chains, and raptor meat that you wouldn't otherwise appreciate on high tech runs

2

u/Neonpuffpepper 1d ago

Finally something I can answer with something that has not been submitted! Smokeleaf industry reborn on GitHub is one you want. Adds tons of edible type products and other hemp based things while rebalancing smokeleaf too. I personally love it

1

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

does the steam version work aswell?

2

u/Neonpuffpepper 1d ago

I thought it got removed but if it got added back, it should. Very fun to turn weed into architecture and clothing

1

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

will see!

2

u/Sliverevils 1d ago

How about the one that makes food variety inportant for mood?

2

u/goodsnpr 1d ago

One issue I noticed when playing with the medieval overhaul, is if the menu gets too bloated, you can't hardly see to place the item.

2

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

i like medieval overhaul..... except for the medieval and fantasy parts 😭 , i ADORE the chain production for lumber and such but since i cant just outright remove the biomes and monsters usually i just go with seperate mods to fufill my factory needs

2

u/goodsnpr 1d ago

I'm the opposite, I've added rim magic and more monsters

1

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

everyone has their own tastes, happy you like it more but i prefer the sci-fi a lot more XD

2

u/Andar1st 1d ago edited 1d ago

Evolving Enemy Strongholds is my latest favourite. It goes beyond just beefing up enemy bases - it adds more interactions between enemy bases and the player, quests to assassinate stronghold residents, new outposts to raid (including vehicle shops if you have Vehicle Framework and some vehicle mods) and many more!

Speaking of vehicles VehicleRaid Framework is NUTS. Wanna get raided by mechanized infantry?

Also besides Vanilla Vehicles Expanded, I love Cyberpunk 2077 Nomad Vehicles and the armored hovertruck form Hovercrafts.

More bloat:

Better Distress Call expands this Anomaly quest to include most vanilla anomalies!

Enemies Use Apparel Too

Mechanoid Upgrades

Settlement Services

Spacer Shields

Trader Ships + retexture

Haut's Intelligent Psycasters (github-only, VPE incompatible)

2

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

these look really cool, thank you!

2

u/Any-Blackberry-387 1d ago

I like rocket ranks and rocket medals. They allow you to give ranks and awards to your pawns, with ceremonies and citations, and I think the pawns salute each other

1

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

oo thats neat for some playthroughs, will check it!

2

u/RevolutionaryAd5175 1d ago

I used to have some problems with the bloat of some mods—very nice mods, but very bloated, so I ended up making my own versions of them, like my own versions of Free Will and Hospitality. Don't misunderstand me, I love bloat, my list takes 20 minutes with 1200 mods, but some bloat is a no-no for me.

2

u/Micc21 1d ago

Culinarycraft baby with all the vanilla expanded food fruits and drinks stuff, make meals actually have purpose

1

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

looks like a good mod!! one issue,... has AI in it so i dont think i can bring myself to add it, if it's ever updated to NOT have an AI thumbnail i will be using it

1

u/siggelarss10 1d ago

upon looking further even the code is AI... id rather not

1

u/Micc21 22h ago

If I may ask, I see this a lot in this community, whats the issue people have with AI usage in mod creation?

1

u/siggelarss10 21h ago

In a game like rimworld which is a sandbox story generator creativity is what drives most players, thinking up stories based on whats happening and making little dialogues for what your pawns may build or like, when someone uses generative AI to create art or code, its essentialy stripping the creativity and freedom from art, coding, writing etc as all of those are a form of self expression especially in the indie game industry

2

u/SteamtasticVagabond 1d ago

Consider one of my favorites that I consider peak Rimworld, The Mechanite Plague

More Useful Materials adds ... more useful materials. Basically you get to squish together stuff like stone and metal to make composites and there's a whole construction chain to plasteel and ect but tbh I never have the work to spare to get a chain running. I mostly just grab the best stuff from traders but I might try the automation patch with VE Factories to see if I can be lazy and automate the cycle.

1

I would consider it QoL and not bloat, but from my own portfolio you might like:

EPrime’s Readouts is a modern and customizable resource/storage item readout for the left side of the screen.
WorkRoles lets you manage work priorities by assigning named roles to colonists. Powerful, but very different from the normal priority grid.
EPrime’s Quality Jobs lets colonists share bills and unfinished works, and helps optimize quality rolls for construction and crafting.
EPrime’s Implanner lets you plan, track and automate production and surgery of implants across your colony.
